Be very cautious if you're buying compost for growing vegetables. I used this compost to grow…read moretomatoes, peas, and peppers, and all of them showed signs of herbicide damage before eventually dying. The compost contains herbicide residue--likely persistent types that are harmful to sensitive crops. When I brought this up to the owner, he blamed my growing techniques and even suggested testing my native soil. I declined, and instead asked him to test the compost I bought--which he refused. It quickly turned into a blame game, and I chose to end the discussion. I'm posting this review so others can make informed decisions before using this compost. For reference, here are some research articles discussing herbicide residue and its impact: https://www.montana.edu/extension/pesticides/reference/contamination.html https://psdocs.spes.vt.edu/AOFT/Plant_Injury_Herbicide_Residue.pdf The owner mentioned a common herbicide with a half-life of 6.2 days, but research shows some types can be up to 433 days. He also said he had sent his compost samples for testing and received good results--but how can we be sure the compost sold to customers is the same as what was tested? In the end, it's up to each buyer to judge for themselves.

When I told her that I love gardenias and hydrangeas she looked at me like I did not know what I was talking about. She suggested I plant "Rosemary" and then rudely asked what our style was? I took a Horticulture class in college and landscaped my first home, so I have an idea about plants. She then told me that the job was too small. I was annoyed as I specifically told her our backyard was a typical tract home in the OC, not very big. My previous experience with Silver Creek Nursery's back in 1997 was so different in comparison. They were so lovely and assisted with planting ideas along with planting a tree we purchased from them and other plants. I was so offended by Lynn that I needed to post on Yelp to warn others as Silver Creek Nursery is not what it was back then, and do not waste your time with Lynn. As far as I am concerned she can plant "Rosemary" in her own yard.....

The staff was very friendly and we even had a 10% off coupon we used from I believe their website. We did find a tree eventually, but felt the price was a little steep. We got our tree and brought it home, but no matter what we tried, it still kept looking crooked on our stand. Not sure if he had them cut it too short maybe, but I wasn't really happy with our tree this year. I think this is a great lot with friendly staff and if you're able to come right when they open you will find yourself a beautiful tree. I think I might opt for a different style/type of tree this next Christmas and maybe try another lot.
