This was our first time getting a fresh tree from Richfield Pines, we usually go to the tree lot in Brea, but they closed. Since that other location closed everyone has been coming to Richfield Pines, which means less options to choose from. We came a week after they opened and man it was slim pickings. They have a large many acre property and you can walk around and pick your tree to take home either same day or on another day. The staff was very friendly and we even had a 10% off coupon we used from I believe their website. We did find a tree eventually, but felt the price was a little steep. We got our tree and brought it home, but no matter what we tried, it still kept looking crooked on our stand. Not sure if he had them cut it too short maybe, but I wasn't really happy with our tree this year. I think this is a great lot with friendly staff and if you're able to come right when they open you will find yourself a beautiful tree. I think I might opt for a different style/type of tree this next Christmas and maybe try another lot. read more

My 1st job in my teens was working at Lakewood Pines and I loved the "choose-n-cut" idea instead of trees shipped in. The job was so tough but I looked forward to it until Lakewood Pines finally closed for good. I had no idea Richfield Pines existed until this year and I got excited at the nostalgic idea as well as the possibility of getting a Monterey Pine again. Prices were cheaper than a Home Depot style tree and walking/hiking the lot was awesome. Found our tree about an hour in, had it cut down, took it home, hosed it off to get the dust and bugs out, and put it up in the evening. It is an awesome tree and smells so good!!!! First time getting a fresh tree cut and totally recommend Richfield Pines ! Very friendly. Price was fair. You can spend hours walking around, letting kids have fun being outdoors, get a little dirty climbing up and down hills and walking on the dirt roads. See you next year !! Wife and I were searching for a Christmas tree farm to get into the spirit, as well as pick out and hopefully cut our own tree. Richfield Pines is a great little spot to come and pick out a tree. The staff is helpful and friendly. Wife loved taking pictures amongst all the trees. We weren't able to cut down our own tree -- so we opted to go to somewhere else for our personal tree. But if you don't care about cutting it yourself, then this is a great place to go. We also were looking for maybe some Christmas decorations or something which there really wasn't -- not a complaint whatsoever just maybe a suggestion. read more

I go here every year to get my Christmas tree. Pretty decently priced trees and a great Christmas experience having to look for the perfect tree. Staff is super friendly and easy to talk to. Definitely has the family business feel. I only gave 3 stars because last Christmas, their selection wasn't as good. I've also noticed our tree was drying up faster than usual. They have a great selection of trees to chose from and all the people working there, from the owner on down, are courteous, professional, and helpful. Our family has made it a tradition to make our annual pilgrimage to Richfield Pines to find our Christmas tree every year. It was my second year buying from them! Me and my roommate bought our tree here and had a good experience. They have a 10 acre lot to walk around, and they also can drive you around the lot if you want to see the trees in the back areas. Price is $11/foot, so we paid $67 for our 6 foot tree. They have a large selection to search for, and you can reserve the tree if you can't pick up that day. I can't comment on the quality of the trees or tree type, since I haven't been to other tree places in the area, but I will continue buying from them since I haven't had any issues yet. Last time, my tree lasted from Thanksgiving weekend to New Years, so hoping this one will last the same with proper watering. If you are using a car with no rack and no trunk bed, they will securely tie it to your car roof with string. All you would need to bring for delivery is a tarp or blanket if you want to put under the tree, so we used a blanket we had brought. I love coming home to my apartment now, the tree makes it smell so good. read more

I grew up in the Philippines where our Christmas trees were always fake and had always dreamed about picking out a REAL one. Fast forward to 2013 and there's a beautiful fresh Christmas tree in our living room that also serves as a wonderful air freshener. There are tons of places around that sell trees during this time of the year, but my husband and I wanted to visit an actual farm where the trees haven't been cut yet. After seeing photos of Richfield Pines on their website and watching their promotional video I was sold! It wasn't too far of a drive anyway. We went there on a Saturday and boy was it a treat! You're immediately greeted by smiling men on utility vehicles who give you a brief orientation on what to do. (Not like it's that complicated!) We saw several families picking out their trees, some even with their babies. The ten-acre property is located on a hilly slope and you can freely roam to search for your tree. No one bothers you at all. It's almost like a fun little hike. It's best to go when the sun is out because the view is beautiful. If you go when it's raining chances are you'll get all muddy and dirty (but that could be fun too!). My husband and I took our time walking around and taking silly photos. We were looking for a small tree that could easily fit in the back of his SUV. It was hard because there were so many to choose from and most of the perfect-looking ones were already taken. When we finally found 'our' tree, I walked all the way down to call one of the guys while my husband stayed behind. I hopped in the four wheeler and enjoyed the short ride up the hill. The man suggested that my husband cut the tree and so he did using a small saw. I captured it on video just for shits and giggles. Then the three of us road back down. The man also helped us load the tree in our car. We paid only $40 bucks for 5' tree. It's $8 per foot. (I wasn't sure though if we were supposed to tip the guy...) Definitely an afternoon and a 'first' tree to remember! We might do it again next year. read more

I lost my father back in 1985; prior to his passing it was a tradition to go to the tree farm the day after Thanksgiving and pick out our tree. Sometimes it would just get a tag and we would pick it up another day or sometimes we would have it cut to take home right then. Times have changed and thru the years tree farms have disappeared in Orange County...but not Richfield Pines. They have not sold out their land to builders, they are there to provide a quality product with excellent customer service and prices and fulfill alot of childhood memories. Bought my tree here last year and enjoyed the experience. Walked around for 20-30 minutes looking for the right height and right shape. Look up Monterey Pines before you go so you understand what kind of tree they grow here. It's not the traditional douglas or noble fern, but looks great in your home. I was a little hesitant to get our tree here. Would there be huge crowds? Would it cost a lot more than Costo or Home Depot? Not at all!! It ended up being a fun experience, and we will make it an annual family tradition! First, the farm is open the week before Thanksgiving so try to get there that week to pick the best tree that is available. Walk around, feel the Christmas spirit and find your tree. (If you want to cut the tree later, you can tag it as sold and come back for it at another time.) Find a friendly employee to help you cut it. The cost will be $10 a foot. Our tree was was 7 feet and cost $70. We ended up getting a smaller 4 feet tree for the dining area of our house as well. They only have Monterey Pine Christmas trees so make sure that it is the look you want. We've always gotten Douglas Fir trees in the past so I wasn't sure I would like the look but I actually love the look! Kudos to Mark for being so friendly and helpful! read more

Family owned and operated, which makes for a nice touch. They only have Monterrey Pines. 10 Acres is alot of space, so bring your walking shoes. Some trees look more wild than others. read more
