Honestly, the one star is for our server, who did the best he could given the situation. We had a Mother's Day reservation that my friend confirmed with Natasha. When we arrived, we were told the side of the restaurant where we booked was unavailable. A staff member not sure if he was a manager or cook, asked us to wait a few minutes. After waiting about 20 minutes, my friend asked for an update and was then told we had to go to the other entrance, meaning we waited all that time for no reason. When we finally got inside, it wasn't even crowded yet. The hostess was polite, but there seemed to be a major lack of communication among the staff because our reservation name wasn't listed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were then seated at a very small table for four people until our server kindly stepped in and combined tables to accommodate us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As it got busier, it was obvious the restaurant was understaffed and the server seemed overwhelmed, though he still remained professional. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Multiple people at our table ordered the steak and eggs, and none of us enjoyed it. it was extremely bland and lacked seasoning. Our bill came out to $427, and overall, the experience was not worth the price. Sadly, this will be our last visit.

So kept seeing this place on IG decides to try it made reservations online for 3 to celebrate a friend bday and when we got there there was one party of 10 and a couple on the restaurant side . We walk in waiting to get greeted and sat. No one came to us we stood waiting for about 15 mins then decided to sit ourselves being that it was empty but no one acknowledged us. Then a staff came over and I said we had a reservation she said we could sit where we like. The waitress was polite but again waited about 15-20 mins for her to take the order and to get the drinks for us there was no bartender on that side . We then flagged her to order apps that also took long to come wasn't impressed by the service. The drinks could have been better the food though was really good. I would go just for that . I then was told by the staff that the kitchen is a little busy Because they had a wedding going on . My thing is what that has to do with the customers coming for dinner on the other side ??? We paying customers too so why we had to get the service we received? [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was not a good day to go there when they have events .[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We made the best of it and just ate and left .

The menu has changed cause there's a new chef in town and I have to tell you the food is better than ever. Their cocktails are amazing as well! The night life next door opened in the evening but stop by & enjoy a meal first. Trust me you won't regret it

We came to have a good time at a comedy game show. We laughed, danced, and had a great time. The Dj was on point, so the ambiance was on and poppin, the service was good, and food was very small portions. I had the Taco Mia, which was 3 small steak but was seasoned. Happy Hour drinks were ok. The mango margaritas could have used a bit more tequila but drinkable. Overall, we had a good time. The place is very chic, grown and sexy. I would recommend it. I don't know about every night....I can only speak about last night.

"Everyone" I was so excited to go here. I heard on TikTok that I would love the experience. It's going to hurt me to write these things as much as it is going to hurt you to read this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On August 18th, 2024, my sister and I walked into the restaurant it wasn't full, but it was cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat at the bar to wait for the rest of our party. It was my and my sister-in-law's Birthday. As we sat there I felt like I'd been here before. I asked the bartender what was the name of the old restaurant. They said Don Coqui. This restaurant was huge, I took my mom here for Mother's Day in 2020. I don't want to get off-topic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called to make the reservation I was told that they have a hookah lounge, in the back and DJ will be playing live music. So as I sat at the bar the young lady said no DJ and no lounge it's not enough people. I was very disappointed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was expecting a brunch party as it is advertised there website. Anyway couldn't go anywhere else so we made the best of it because we had people coming in from Maryland. Everyone showed we sat at our table and ordered our food and two towers the first one was a Mimosa and the other one was a (White Sangria -BEWARE). I will explain. I ordered a Burger that was okay and the family enjoyed their food. My sister had the white Sangria 2 glasses and my brother had 3 glasses. Everyone else had the Mimosas. They kept saying how strong and sweet the Sangria was. Now this is coming from a family who drinks Casa Azul Tequila. In other words, it's not like we don't enjoy amazing cocktails. My brother and sister used the bathroom a bunch of times. Never seen them do this before. When we left the restaurant and that air hit them they were zonked out. My sister threw up violently out of my car and my brother was all over the place. We couldn't understand what was going on. I called the restaurant's number and got the same lady I made the reservation with, who was the owner of the restaurant, and asked her what they put in the White Sangria, she didn't know and had to call me back. When she called me back she stated that they put white wine, peach schnapps, and orange juice. I used to be a bartender, went to bartender school and I never heard of that mixture. Restaurants do make White Sangria different, but this experience was horrible. I had to pull over 3 times so she could throw up and when I got both of them to my house they passed out. That wasn't a good time. It takes a lot for me to give a restaurant a bad review, but this is needed. When I told the manager how sick my sister was all she offered was water.... I will never go there again. Here are the pictures of the food.

Saw their menu online and decided I had to try it. I was glad to see that the restaurant and lounge are separate. I'm just not into lounges much these days. Overall, my experience felt like Astoria has its own Nobu. First off, the cocktails are delicious! These drinks are served in intricate glassware that will dazzle your Instagram and TikTok feeds. Unique flavors I haven't seen elsewhere in the neighborhood. The food was perfect for sharing with a group. Sushi was on point. The wagyu sliders were a hit. Loved the crispy rice so much, the table ended up getting a second order. Our absolute favorite was the wagyu sushi app (wagyu, foie gras, reduction). So much flavor and another app we ordered again. Definitely put this spot on your list! The ambiance is just what your evening needs. Also, I just discovered that they are offering brunch. Will be putting that on my summer checklist.

As I said it's a snug spot. Definitely make reservs if you want a table. After a certain age I realized I may need a seat. LOL. The crowd also tends to be a little more mature, so if you're 30+ and looking for an older crowd, this may be your type of place. The food selection, however, is pretty limited, and the music really seems to depend on which DJ is there. Some DJs are good and others are just okay. The last time I went was Wednesday, July 29, and while I had an okay time, the DJ really wasn't all that. My biggest concern, though, is the liquor. My usual drink is Grey Goose or Tito's with soda water. I drink this regularly at home and at other places without waking up with a headache. Both times I visited The Record Room, I specifically ordered Grey Goose with soda water, and both times I woke up with a significant headache. The first time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured it could have been a coincidence. That's actually one of the reasons I was willing to go back. Unfortunately, the exact same thing happened after my second visit. I obviously cannot confirm what was actually poured, but because this has happened both times at this particular establishment, it does make me question whether I was actually being served the liquor I requested and paid for. When you're paying top-shelf prices, you should feel confident that you're receiving the brand you ordered. Overall: nice ambiance, mature crowd, limited food options, hit-or-miss DJs, and unfortunately a liquor experience that has now left me questioning what I was served twice. For those reasons, 2 out of 5 stars for me.

The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. I would definitely consider hosting another event there, or dine here on my own.
