Beef street tacos and chicken enchilada.

I have been coming here for a very long time since I live nearby. The food and service has always been so great. Today I ordered something new and was more impressed. I asked for some street tacos which I didn't really see on the menu. The owner stated they could make anything I wanted. Boy did they ever!! Best ones I've ever had in this area and most plentiful. Others in the area don't even compare. The surroundings are also very pleasant with relevant art and everything seems very clean. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Go to Mexican!! They had excellent and attentive service. Food was great and they sell awesome Margarita towers that are well priced and are perfect for a low key night. Will definitely be back!

We looked all over town for some good lunch to eat on Sunday. Upon entering Agave, we could see it was a popular choice. Betsy's entire Sunday School class was at the long table. The menu was big (approximately 1,517 items) so we just picked something. The food was delicious and our drinks were humungous! They offer big Michelada with Shrimp in it, which we did not order, but looked impressive. After we finished our food and drinks and were near death, the waiter seemed to insist we get even more hammered. I could tell he works hard and plays harder. We invited him back to our home that evening and...let's say we had a real fun time.

    Agave for Cinco de Mayo!

What's stood out to me at Agave? One word... Flavor! Nestled near the University of South Alabama, the recently opened Agave has proven to me that they have what it takes to make it in this town: Great portions, Great flavor, Great prices! I really hope they do well. Back to flavor, I've tried 4 different dishes from Agave now and have yet to be disappointed in either the portions or the flavors. Today, for Cinco de Mayo, I tried the Yolanda's Plate (see Pics). It was absolutely delicious: three cheese enchiladas, topped with shredded chicken, queso, fresh tomato and sour cream, and almost drowning in enchilada sauce! At first I thought it was too much sauce but it was so rich and fresh tasting that I ate it all. Period. My lady ordered the schredded chicken taco salad (see Pic). She said the flavor was very good. Interestingly they served it not in the baked/fried tortilla bowl I think most of us have come to accept as the gold standard of taco salad bowls, but rather a fried, slightly folded tortilla. It ate just fine but was different. Service was also excellent. Will be back! Keep up the good work Agave!

My sister brought food home from here as a surprise tonight. This is by far the best Mexican restaurant I have eaten. The only place that compares is Guadalajara's located up North in the Midwest. All the other mexican restaurant in Mobile has beef that tastes foul. Whatever you do AVOID Margaritas they're the worst. We've tried ordering food from Margaritas multiple times giving them multiple chances and it's always inedible.

This place isn't good. The service is just as mediocre as the food. If you are in the mood for real Mexican food go else where.

I know ala Cocina has a pretty good reputation. I scanned the online menu and it didn't take me long to find the birria tacos. It came with two sides. I decided to try the charro beans and Spanish rice. The email I received said my wait would be about 20 minutes. I drove to the restaurant and waited in my car for a bit. When I walked in the restaurant there was someone attending to some tables. The was a sign to ring the bell to get some service but the waitress saw me. I told her that I had an online order and within a few minutes my food was ready. When I got home I noticed there was chips and salsa in my bag as well as the other items I ordered. I didn't realize my meal came with chips and salsa. I guess that's not out of the ordinary but it was a pleasant surprise. Anyway I started with the rice and then with the beans. There was nothing really special with the rice but I don't think I've had charro beans. They seem to be beans with what seemed like vienna sausage. It didn't taste bad. I really didn't know what to expect. On the to birria tacos. The definite star of the show. Being that my food was take out there was some sogginess to the taco shell but the tacos held up pretty good. I dipped the first taco in the consommé (yes, I googled it). It was very savory and the meat was tender. I don't eat a lot of authentic Mexican food but I know what good food tastes like. I definitely would recommend the birria tacos from La Cocina.

The chips are served nice and warm and have a light crunch to them, not overly heavy. Their salsa is just addictive and when you pair it with their queso, it's ridiculous. I ordered the chicken supreme dish I think is what it was called. Chicken breast flattened and nicely grilled, topped with mushrooms and onions and cheese. Serve with rice and beans, I couldn't finish at all, but I surely wanted to. The service was very friendly and attentive, mostly comfortable atmosphere. Loud patrons, a couple boot away, put a damp around things, but that's not really the fault of the restaurant, just inconsiderate, loud patrons. The only issue I have, is when we walked in the place just kind of smelled funky. They had a couple of candles lit, I think to mask the odor. And I really can't say what it was, but it was across between maybe garbage and trash smell. Aside from the unpleasant smell when you walk in, the food and service was on point. I would absolutely come back here for takeout.

It's been hiding in plain sight to me. Anyway I wanted to try some Mexican food but the real kind and not the fake. I at first thought I wanted some tacos but I ultimately settled on quesadillas. The reason I picked quesadillas over tacos was mainly because quesadillas came with rice and beans. It was that simple. I ordered my meal online and decided to head over to the restaurant. I got there earlier than what the estimated time in my email said my food would be ready. The place was pretty close to packed. I realized the store was more than a restaurant because it displayed cuts of meat in the glass counter. I saw a family with children with popsicles that the parents had purchased along with the meal. When I moved further in the store I was approached by a employee and I told them I made an online order. She went back in the kitchen and came back with my food after a short wait. When I got back home, I couldn't wait to eat. There was a plate for salad and a plate for the quesadilla with the rice and beans. I mixed up the salad with the rice and beans. I don't eat Mexican food a lot so I'm not sure if that's how it's done but that's how I did it. I enjoyed it. Next I tried the carne asada quesadilla. This was like no quesadilla I had before. I say this knowing all quesadillas basically consist of the same thing: dough, meat, and cheese. This quesadilla was on another level because each of those ingredients were much better than what I've experienced before. The cheese was really the star of the quesadilla. It was so rich. I really loved this quesadilla. It was the best one I've ever had in life. Before I forget I want to mention I bought a Mexican Coca Cola with my meal. I could taste the difference from regular Coke but I can't exactly describe it. I loved it though. I really want to come back here and try more items on the menu.
