We go about 1/week or so. I love TexMex sometimes, but they have authentic dishes also. Great service, plenty of food and Mexican beer selections. They sell dried peppers and spices, cheeses and everything to try cooking at home. I've tried to mimic their food, but they cook way better than me. I visited today to specifically try Taqueria Mexico's Poblano Relleno. My favorite place I used to visit in Florida to get this dish closed, and I have been searching for a worthy replacement for 11 years. Today I found it. This dish was beautifully presented, was delicious, and made correctly. I almost cried when it was placed in front of me. Sweet tea was brewed and delicious. This place looks questionable from the outside but it always has a full parking lot so I decided to give it a try, and I am so glad I did! The inside is festive and bright, I was seated immediately and brought fresh chips and delicious salsa. Ordered three different tacos which were served "street" style with cilantro and onions. Everything was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. I will definitely be back. Tacqueria Mexico has an ample sized parking lot in the back and a few spots in the front. For a Saturday dinner, we were seated quickly. I ordered 3 tacos which were very good and a nice portion of meat. I really liked them with the carne asada being my favorite. Visited here on Cinco de Mayo and had about a 20 minute wait for a table of 4. I expected it to be much longer, so that was a pleasant surprise. Chips and salsa were great, as was the guac and cheese dip. I had shrimp tacos, which I will not order again. They weren't bad, they were just the basic kind with lettuce, tomato and cheese toppings. I will try the quesadilla next time, because my friend got it and it looked so good. But the real deal is the margaritas. We didn't order queso with our chips as we typically would at a Mexican restaurant so I can't speak to that, but my husband felt the salsa that came with the chips was kind of bland. The tacos.... O.m.g. I have had every single one of them. And they are always ON POINT. My favorites, that I highly recommend, are the cachete, barbacoa, and lengua. Fully dressed, corn only. The hot sauces that come with are SPICCCYYY, yet so full of flavor. My husband always orders the Cali burrito and it's HUGE and jam packed full of goodness. We have ordered the tamales and I can most definitely say, I've had WAY better, they had no meat in them!! Has been my only disappointment from this place. Don't get me started on the salsa that comes with the chips, I could live off of that stuff! When we ate in, The staff was always friendly. It was never fully packed, so we never had any issues with slowness. The chips always came out hot, the drinks were always filled up. We order take out from here more than dine in. They have never gotten an order incorrect, and food is always ready about 25 minutes after we call in our order. So all in all, do I recommend this place?? Oh, HECK YEAH. Previously loyal customer but no longer impressed. The last several times I've gone in to pick up a to go order, I have waited 25-35 minutes beyond quoted time. Today, my order sat at the counter for over 15 minutes and no one told me. After it had been awhile, I asked if they could check on the status of my order and I was told they would "check on it" all the while, it sat there. After another 5 minutes had passed, someone finally goes "here you go" and hands me the bag that had been sitting behind the counter the entire time. There was no apology for the confusion or wait. Keep in mind, this was a one item order. No sides, no drink, nothing complicated. Needless to say, the food was barely lukewarm. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is the service is somewhat decent if you eat inside. You pay before you get your to go orders and I always tip well assuming service will be good but this is 4 times in a row now service was poor and food was cold. I want to support small business but you also need to provide better service, especially when I counted 6 people in and around the cash register. read more

My son told me this place has the best tacos so he brought me here to prove it. I was blown away. I ordered a hard shell beef taco and a pork tamale and he insisted I try the traditional steak taco. After filling up on their yummy salsa and chips with a side of queso, I devoured my taco which was delish. Then I went to my steak taco, which was surprisingly scrumptious. We are from Texas and had our doubts about Tex-Mex in Alabama, but, boy, were we wrong!I should've taken photos of our food, but it was all so delicious that we cleaned our plates before I thought of snapping pics. Our family of 5 ordered the sampler platter (enormous serving size - easily enough for 2 big eaters to share as a meal), shrimp tacos with nice gulf shrimp instead of those frozen shrimp a lot of restaurants put in their dishes, chicken wings that were perfectly battered and freshly fried but lacked flavor on their own...the sauce on side was yummy but spicy, tortilla soup (half order was HUGE and had a whole avocado and quite a bit of chicken), and a fajita burrito which was about 10 inches long and filled with perfectly seasoned fajita beef and chicken and sautéed veggies. The burrito sauce on top was so yummy, too! Oh, and the frozen house margaritas were delish! The building itself is quite unassuming. The location is eh, the curb appeal leaves a bit to be desired, and the restaurant is cluttered with stock all around the outskirts of the seating area. Wasn't good nor bad. I did appreciate the sauce though. It had a hint of sweetness to it. In all honesty though, she only ate one of the two. The chicken inside it was amazing too. She didn't think it was good enough to take home though. My water wasn't cold at all. I can drink room temp water, but it isn't expected at a restaurant. Not to mention the fact that it was never refilled. My date's water was cold though but hers was also never refilled. The chips were given to us as soon as we sat down. They were great. We ordered a side of queso dip with it. Best part of the experience, sadly. The chips were never refilled either though. Honestly, I shouldn't have paid for that considering the experience. I paid the full price to maintain face in front of my date. Didn't say a word until after ai paid. I didn't wanna be a Karen. I just told them there was nothing in my tamales and left. The waiter apologized and immediately went to tell the guy who made it. The waiter was nice, but clearly inattentive to our experience.
