Don't really see how this is a Michelin Star restaurant. Came in for one of their dinners and ordered most of the menu with my family to sample everything they had to offer. The most expensive thing on their menu was the steak and 3 of us ordered it, once it arrived the sweet potato mash or puree they had with it was cold on every plate weird choice. They had mushrooms on top of the sweet potato with an XO sauce or something and was so spicy no one could eat it.

Cute place and packed on a Saturday morning at 10 AM. We walked in and got on the list, waited about 25 minutes. A long line shortly ensued. How long did they wait? The parking lot looked ample but was full, we were able to park across the street. Coffees were good, standard fare and options for a coffee shop. They have a nice array of pastries. Service was fine, it took a good amount of time to get our order but it was worth the wait. I got avocado toast which was amazing. The avocado (mostly mashed) sat on top of wafer thin slices of cucumber, radish and onions. On top were 2 eggs and micro greens. All of this on a thick slice of sourdough. Excellent. The girls shared a turkey club , it was huge, they really really liked it, a lot! This accompanied by a side of potatoes, also yummy. Good spot for sure.

I ordered the club and whipped feta with seasonal toppings. Club was good and comes with a garlic aloli. Even with the sauce it fell short. We tried to order a cinnamon bun but were told they were out of all their pastries due to other patrons who arrived earlier than us. We got there at 2pm. Would I go back, no.

This place is so fire every single time! It's collective aesthetic is top tier and every time I eat here I feel like I'm the main character in some indie film. The food itself is delicious and I love how fresh the ingredients are. The menu offers the perfect variety without including too many options. I like that they have seasonal items as well to keep things interesting. Next time I'm in Gainesville, I will be back! The service was so great, and the walkability to local stores was very stimulating. I was able to visit a plant store, a record store, and the best thrift store I've been to in Gainesville.

On my Gainesville matcha tour, my latest stop at afternoon has me running back for their seasonal rosemary mint Matcha latte. Afternoon also makes it so easy with their pick up window to save time from going inside to order, but you still get the friendly service at the window. In comparison to their typical syrups, this one really stands out. From the freshness of the mint and the earthy rosemary, this is such a great profile flavor to compliment an iced Matcha latte. The drink is presented so beautifully with a pretty green color mix mixed in with fresh mint leaves and rosemary. Highly recommended to try this syrup out as it is only around for a limited time.

Amazing and unique food you can't get anywhere else! The staff is also always friendly and kind! I've tried a lot on the menu, and my top favs are the egg and cheese on focaccia, the blueberry scone, and an iced latte with oat milk

Food was delightful! We were there at 9 am as the restaurant opened. We had to wait several minutes as the people ahead of us in line were seated. The hostess was pretty rude after finding out that we didn't have a reservation. We were fine sitting outside on the patio with shade and fans. The patio was completely empty and the restaurant was 75% empty so we aren't sure why she was so put out with us arriving for our first visit without reservations. The rest of the staff made up for her rudeness by their friendliness and prompt attention. The food was fantastic! The French breakfast was delicious and the sourdough toast topped with whipped feta and tomatoes was a winner. Since it was a weekend day, we tried the cinnamon roll and they were great as well. We will be back, despite our initial lack of welcome.

Amazing food and fantastic service! Best in town. The dinning room was clean and cozy. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable and had a great appreciation for the products. Can't wait for Afterdark!

Rapidly eaten cinnamon bun. Best item in the house.

Price above quality, hype is overdone. Sausage on combo was way overcooked. Pancakes average.

I give it a 3/5 only because the food was actually pretty decent. We were told 20 minute wait, which we completely understood as we were a walk in & so I placed a coffee order while we waited. I didn't get my coffee until an hour later and that was after we kept going up to the window 3 times for updates. The food was pretty good, however the wait times for the food & the coffee to me weren't worth it.

Love coming here and every visit is such a treat. I got the chicken salad and burrito and split the potatoes with my bf. I also had a salted caramel iced latte with whole milk. Everything was delicious. The crispy potatoes are always a must for me. I love that they have seasonal offerings and they are always changing up the menu depending on what's in season. Service was good but server seemed to be annoyed at us because we were taking awhile to order and looked bothered . Other than that you can tell everything is made in house. I loved the chicken salad and I'm by no means a lover of them but this one changed my mind. Loved the pickles inside and the rye bread took me by surprise in a good way. Their potato chips that come with it are addicting and sliced thinly, it's amazing Joe they make their own instead of resorting to bagged. I love the way they make their eggs fluffy and everything is just simple but elegant. This is one of those must visit brunch places in Gainesville.

Went here 2 different times, both with similar experiences. We came on the weekend and were seated fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the food took over an hour both times to arrive, and the menu was out of the few items we really wanted to try. While the vibe is very cute and has a great atmosphere, the quality of food itself is subpar at best. For those who enjoy quality matcha, this is not the place. It was very milky and not strong. I got a Salmon Toast, and the bread was so rough, it hurt my jaw. The prices are also extremely steep for the portion of food you receive. If you do come here, I would say it is more for the vibes and photos than the food itself. However, sometimes the presentation will differ depending on the day (e.g. glass cups, plastic plates, etc). My favorite thing would definitely be the coffee, which is very tasty and worth the cost. Overall, I would only come if you have time to spare, as they are often backed up and really busy.

Of course the vibes were great, as this is the perfect place to go for any sort of sporting event. While it was busy when we got there, it started to clear up once the game got started. They usually have open-seating, but on busier nights a host seats you. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, so tons of TV's all around. We wanted to eat outside, but unfortunately all the tables were full. While I love the Swamp, I cannot vouch for their service. It's never very attentive, but honestly it's not that big of a deal. The food usually comes out quickly and there aren't problems. It can be hard to flag down your waiter though (especially on really busy nights), so keep this in mind. The food is also pretty consistent for the most part, but some nights are better than others. Keep an eye out for deals on drinks when you go as well! I've had a number of things here, but one of my favorites has to be their Buffalo Chicken Dip. This appetizer includes grilled chicken mixed with buffalo wing sauce, melted cheddar, Pepper Jack, and cream cheese, finished with ranch and an extra kick of hot sauce, served hot with tortilla chips, celery and carrots. Absolutely love this appetizer and it is perfect for sharing--would recommend! For my entree I tried their Buffalo Tender Wrap which consisted of chicken tenders tossed in your choice of sauce with provolone cheese, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes wrapped in a garlic-herb tortilla. I enjoyed this and thought it was a great wrap, but I think their chicken cause wrap is better. The tenders were fresh and the wrap was balanced well. You really can't go wrong with any of their wrap though as they are my favorite entree to get here! The fries were good too, but I feel like the fries are genuinely different every time I eat here. Overall, we all had a great time at the Swamp and enjoyed watching a great game! The food hit the spot, the vibes were perfect, and the night was really fun. The meal was more expensive than I was expecting ($30), but this wasn't a huge deal as you are paying for the overall experience. The portions are usually pretty generous as well. The service was definitely less attentive on this occasion as we barely saw our server and couldn't flag her down to pay for the meal. But I love The Swamp and will be back soon to try more of the menu!

The food is super fresh, made with great ingredients, and is full of flavor. I also really appreciate that are seed-oil free! This particular location is in Midtown located right by UF's campus. With that being said, it can get busy. But I have found that they always do a great job managing this and keep the line moving. The inside is kept very clean--which is always appreciated. The service is also really pleasant as the workers are all super nice, patient, and accommodating. While Bolay may be considered "pricier", I really think the prices are fair. Especially when you consider how much food you get and the quality of the food. I always opt for a Large Bol which includes up to 4 grains, green, or veggies, 2 proteins, 3 toppings, and a sauce of your choosing. I consistently opt for their kale salad, sweet potatoes, garlic broccoli, and steak in my bowls. I like to switch up the bases sometimes and get their noodles or their Forbidden Rice (which I've really enjoyed lately). I've also been enjoying their chicken thighs, but I can attest that all of their proteins are delicious! I really just love how fresh and flavorful everything is. I don't know how they cook their sweet potatoes and broccoli specifically, but whatever they do--it's magical. Overall, I know I can rely on Bolay for a great, satiating, healthy meal through and through! I have never had a bad experience here and always look forward to placing order. I will definitely be back plenty of times throughout this upcoming school year!

Absolutely worth going off the beaten path for…read more We stumbled across Public & General while looking for somewhere in Gainesville with good vegetarian options, and the first thing that caught my attention was the fried green tomato sandwich. I saw that on the menu and immediately thought, "Yep. We're going there." And I'm so glad we did. The only thing I would change about the experience is the ordering process. You have to place your order at the bar first, take a number, and then seat yourself so they know where to bring your food. Personally, I would prefer traditional table service, but once we got past that, the food completely won me over. We ordered the fried green tomato sandwich, and it was delicious. Then there were the dill fries. Fresh dill on French fries sounded interesting enough that we had to try them, and they were AMAZING. Such a simple idea, but different from the usual fries you get everywhere else and executed really well. But the biggest surprise of the entire meal? THE COUSCOUS. My partner ordered the vegetable couscous with mushrooms, zucchini and squash, and when I tell you this was the best couscous I have ever had... I mean it. It was so good that before we left, we ordered another one to go. That alone should tell you everything. I love finding restaurants that take familiar ingredients and do something memorable with them. Nothing we had felt boring or like an afterthought, especially the vegetarian options. Public & General feels like one of those neighborhood places you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but now that we know about it, it has officially made our Gainesville rotation. We don't get to Gainesville often, but anytime we're back in town, we're stopping here. Fried green tomato sandwich: Dill fries: Vegetable couscous: Seriously... get the couscous. We literally took another order home.
