Nothing really special. Got a chicken burrito "Afghan Style." Rice and beans weren't particularly flavorful. The cheese was below ambient temperature and was off putting being cold. Ordered without sour cream but they ignored that and order had sour cream. Best thing this place has going for it was the marinade/sauce on the chicken was pretty good and the value was pretty good. Would have given it 4 stars except for the sour cream issue. read more

Was looking for a quick healthy meal that was full of flavor and this place completely out-did all my expectations. I loved how I was getting a mix of halal guys with a Chipotle delivery! The Steak Burrito Bowl was phenomenal - the salsa verde and medium spicy sauce added the most perfect spice level with each bite. There wasnt too much of one thing and less than another, everything was portioned soooo good and will definitely be adding this to my go to spot! read more

Finally got to try this place. It's not traditional Mexican food as the name implies. Great portions for the price. Had a delicious dinner here last weekend! We both got golden burritos. The portion is huge!! I was full for hours. The burrito is tasty, saucy, and with a good mix of ingredients. I'm not sure what's in their golden sauce but I like it. I ordered mine with spicy sauce and jalapeños and i still wouldn't say it was spicy but it was good. The outdoor seating is lovely and staff was very nice. I look forward to trying other items! read more

Just had dinner with some friends at Afghan Burrito and it was very good. I ordered the loaded nachos, a steak golden burrito and a chicken burrito bowl. The nachos were done before I even looked up, I would recommend ordering two if you're with a group of 4 or more! The burrito was full of flavor, moist and more than enough. Everything they make is on point. I thought I'd be a burrito devotee but based on other reviews, I tried the Crunchwrap and that will be my number 1 moving forward. I enjoy the chicken/beef combo. My picky eater child likes their steak quesadilla. They make the food quickly. I came here with my boyfriend and I ordered the veggie crunchwrap and he got the afghan way golden burrito. He said that the burrito is good but the afghan influence is not apparent. I thought the crunchwrap was pretty good but a little too saucy. I wish it had more beans, rice, and/or vegan meat. We weren't really a fan of the sauces provided. The short story is HUGE portions for the price but the flavor profile was just too sweet for me. It clearly seems to work for a lot of other people though! We got the steak burrito, veggie burrito, and veggie nachos for takeout. The burritos were huge--like seemingly bigger than many Mission SF burritos. (See pic...this thing could stand upright.) Overall the flavor of my steak within the burrito was good but the golden sauce that is the trademark of this place was still dominant in terms of its sweetness. I did ask for jalapeños and to make mine spicy, but sweetness was definitely the characterizing flavor in spite of that. The burritos came with Asian sweet chili sauce too, but I didn't really want to put more sugar onto it. I think I would've loved more savory or saltiness. The nachos were loadeddddd with tons of peppers and toppings but again a lot of the golden sauce, so similar flavor profile as the burrito. I would've loved more chips as the nachos were basically 2/3s peppers. We got a medium size and I can't imagine how much volume a large would be. I saw this spot while driving and got excited for the concept of a fusion between Afghan and Mexican food. I pulled over to give it a try. The food was tasty and good. My biggest issue is that it's misleading. There's nothing Afghan about this spot. It's not a fusion between Mexican & Afghan food. They say their red sauce is Afghan, but it's not. It's some regular sauce. I'm Afghan and thought the concept was great but not true. I highly recommend they rename themselves or do an actually fusion between the two foods. read more

Don't know why it took me this long to try this place. I live so close by and randomly found them on a late night hunt for a burrito. I was intrigued by their business. Reminds me of Sisig but Afghan style. I got the golden veggie burrito and holy shit that thing is massive. I was starving and almost actually ate it all but couldn't finish it. The sauce is sooo good and they pack it with stuff. Really good flavor and value. The one thing is that because it's so damn big, it fell apart on me. But I just got my fork out, no biggie. Oh and the sauces they give you with the chips are BOMBBB. The whitish red sauce I have no clue what's in there but it was so delicious. The lady who helped me was super nice and I really liked their outdoor space. Now my go-to burrito spot for sure. Looking forward to seeing this business grow in my neighborhood. read more

I wanted to love my golden chicken burrito, but alas, I did not. Maybe it wasn't the burrito, maybe it was me. I had high expectations after reading the amazing reviews. I thought I would receive a blend of my love for both Afghan and Mexican food. But the golden sauce was way too sweet and overpowering for me. It tasted more like a Thai or Indian curry. I still think Afghan Burrito has a lot of potential. Next time, I think I will try a quesadilla or their loaded fries (coming soon to their menu). Afghan Burrito is one of my FAVORITE places to go in the area for a couple reasons. I always get the steak burrito bowl. 1. The food is delicious. All parts; the rice, meat, sauces, ingredients. They even have a sweet and sour sauce that you can use that surprisingly goes with the flavors! 2. The amount of food you get for the price you pay is so worth it. If I could give zero stars I would solely off of the customer service I experienced. I mean God how terrible was that. The lady working the window (Named Elia) was having technical difficulties accepting card payments after I asked to buy a drink with my meal. After she said the payment did not go through she asked for cash so I gave it to her to save us both the headache. After I pay her cash she hands me an incorrect order missing items as well as claiming she handed me my drinks when she did not. She seemed forgetful in whether she handed me certain items or not. Another awesome option for those who have dietary restrictions and can only eat Halal. I love that more fusion options are popping up and that finding Halal options within the diverse cuisines we have in the Bay is getting easier and easier. This spot is a little tough to find since it's inside a co-op kitchen, but I just pulled in front of the gates and called them and they came out within seconds with my food. The service was very nice and professional. I would highly recommend trying either their chicken or steak bowls and also trying the nachos. It's a bit heavy and their portions are huge, so I don't think it's possible for 2 people to finish 2 entrees plus nachos, but it makes for good leftovers the next day. I've had a couple of Afghan/Mexican spots and am still trying to figure out if I like it or just prefer them to be separate cuisines, but nonetheless this spot is good and you should check them out yourself. read more

By far the most unique blend of flavors I've tried in a while. I ordered the Chicken Burrito and Chicken Nachos, and they each had a rich taste that kept me wanting more!! They also asked if I'd like my food with spice or no spice, and I personally recommend getting it spicy because it's just the right amount to numb your tastebuds and it accents the creamy sauce in just the right way. It blows my mind how afghan cuisine works really well when fused with tex-mex/mexican ingredients. Truly a great culinary accomplishment that I haven't seen before in my life. Location is nice as well! It's located in a private lot with plenty of outdoor seating and their bathroom is equipped with nice interior designing!
