Outside after existing door was ripped out
Cherry M.

I came home Saturday night to my existing door dog completely torn out. It was incorrectly installed by a friend about 10 years ago but we've really been limping it along the past 3 years. I was just waiting for it to completely give out and Saturday was the day! I called Doug on Sunday and he texted me immediately asking me to call me back. He did in just a few minutes. I explained my issue and sent him pics of the existing hole in my wall. He asked me to take measurements and said it would be $639. I thought that was fair as just the door online is $300+. He said he could come out the next day or Wednesday. I WFH and like I said had a huge open hole in my house so asked he come today. His arrival time was between 2-3pm. He texted me about 2pm and said he was 35 min away. The whole install is took about an hour and I couldn't be happier with the results. I don't have to think about my damn dog door anymore!! Adulting WIN!!! And it comes with a 10 year warranty. I feel confident if anything happens I can just give him a call. Doug was incredibly nice and I would highly recommend.

Doug was amazing to work with! He talked through all my needs, made recommendations on where it would work best, and did excellent work. The door looked great, there was no damage to the wall, and my pups love it.

We have had our door for 8 years. After several dogs have rocketed in and out of it, we finally have to replace our flaps! It has held up beautifully under some crazy pups!

Door looks clean both inside and out. Nicely centered under the window we wanted it under

Newly installed doggy door. We'll finish the trim work ourselves.

My wife and I wanted to replace our original doggy door and researched several local companies for via online reviews. We selected three companies here in the East Valley for bids. We contacted Doug, the owner of Affordable Pet Doors via text and provided photos of our current set up. In order to better assess our situation, Doug made an appointment to stop by personally to give us a bid. Our meeting went very well with Doug as he presented us with several options that would best fit our needs. He did inform us that we'd need to finish the trim work (stucco & paint) which was not a problem for us. Additionally, his bid was almost $200 less than the closest competition using the identical brand of doggy door. The next day, we contacted Doug and informed him he was our guy. He offered us several installation dates and we decided to go with a Saturday morning installation. When Saturday morning arrived, Doug was right on time as promised. Our dogs took to him (dogs are such good judges of character!) and that reinforced what we already felt about him. For the installation, Doug brought an extensive collection of necessary tools (17 years in the business!) including one that really fascinated us, an electric tin snipper that made short work of the trimming needed for the adjustment fitting and installation of the tin/aluminum box frame which we thought was pretty cool! Within an hour, he'd finished the job and cleaned everything up. My wife and I were both impressed! We're glad that we were glad that we were able to do business with a local company (heck, we found out he lives just several miles from us!), which provided us with excellent quality work and product as well, and at a great price. Our thanks to our new friend Doug! Hook 'em Babee!!

I would not recommend this business. When I asked the owner, Doug Mason, what could be done to remedy the poor installation, he got rude with me and then blocked my number. Definitely not satisfaction guaranteed as his website states and does not stand behind his work - BEWARE! Totally NOT worth $709 and not an honest businessman. I told the owner that I had a small 15lb dog as well as medium sized dogs and therefore wanted the door installed as low as possible so that my little dog didn't have to jump. He assured me that he would do this and advised he could even cut down into the baseboard (as one client picture shows on his website). When he completed the work the door is 2" above my baseboard and not level. It is ever so slightly crooked but I can tell, especially because it is directly next to my back door and trim- which IS level and he also moved an electrical outlet over a few inches to make room and it is more crooked than the dog door. Overall, just not aesthetically pleasing and my little dog needs a step outside which looks very ugly on my Saltillo tile patio and a door mat inside to prevent her from slipping on the tile inside the house. Also, the door manufacturer shows that the door should be taped before caulking and yet Doug got silicone caulk all over my interior wall which is going to cause a headache when I try to paint the room in the future.

Just recently had a door installed, very impressed with the end product. Installation was professional and thorough

I really am someone who does not write reviews (I felt it necessary to download the yelp app just for this one). I needed a dog door in my new house and used reviews on yelp and google in my search. I went with Affordable pet doors because even though I am capable of such a project some of my projects end up looking like the end product I got from affordable pet doors. The picture will speak for itself. The installer did something I would probably do, but that is why I hired an expert. The installer should have realized that the requested location would have cut into my window stucco pop outs and advised to move the install further down the wall. Instead the installer just installed the door and cut out my pop outs outside. The door could have just been moved to the next gap between studs 16" further as the there was plenty of room inside and out. Now I am stuck with how to fix this eyesore outside and pay someone else to fix it. Also because of this location I could not use the included top hood that goes across the top of Hale Pet doors.

Outstanding installation job. The product is expected and holds up extremely well. We ordered a large for our 3 rambunctious dogs.

Hi! We're moving to an area that unfortunately, has scorpions. I've read they can crawl through dog doors. What are my options here? Do you install dog doors with RFID technology? Thanks for your help!

I install the Hale brand pet door which in not an electronic pet door. The Hale pet door has magnets built into the flaps and the frame for a real tight seal on both flaps. Also, there is weather stripping between the flaps and the frame to keep the… Read more
