It was a blessing to take her and our second GSP, Harper to their place. My dogs LOVED LDR. They were able to run, hike, and play in the pond. I was fortunate to have such a great place to take my dogs. Piper lived to be 16 and up until the last weeks of her life, she still went to Lucky dog. Harper passed away sooner (GSP rescue) but absolutely adored Jeff and Susan. Jeff and Susan, the owners are fantastic people and always treated my dogs with the best care and attention. They even let us lay Piper and Harper to have their final resting place at Lucky Dog. I highly recommend this place. They not only have great daycare but the cage free boarding is a refreshing change from having to board dogs at a facility where they only get to stretch their legs a few times a day. This year, my husband and I have lost two of our childhood dogs in a matter of four months. They were there through all the trials and tribulations and helped prolong their lives and kept them comfortable until it was time to say goodbye, they were there for that as well. Not only have they gone above and beyond for us and our pets care, they have personally checked on us during a vet visit to see how we're doing numerous times and said if we ever need a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on to reach out to them. They also have written us beautiful cards with heartfelt messages, not just signatures, sending condolences for our babies. When attempting to refill our cat's flea and tick medication through Chewy, the prescription request was declined because our cat had not had an annual wellness exam. When I contacted the office to understand the reasoning behind the requirement, I was told that the exam was necessary to maintain the veterinarian-client-patient relationship. However, I did not receive a clear explanation of how a routine wellness exam for a healthy, three-year-old cat would impact the decision to approve a medication he has been safely taking for the past three years. Veterinary regulations may require periodic examinations before prescriptions can be authorized, and if that is the case, I would have appreciated a straightforward explanation of that requirement. Instead, the responses I received felt generic and did not address the underlying question of why the exam was necessary in this specific situation. For many families, discretionary spending is carefully evaluated. Requiring an $83 wellness exam solely to authorize a refill of an established flea and tick preventative adds a meaningful expense without a clearly communicated benefit. While I understand the importance of routine preventive care, I believe clients deserve a transparent explanation of the medical or regulatory rationale behind policies that require additional visits and costs. My overall opinion of Riverwalk remains positive because of the quality of care they have provided over the years.
