Don't book an appointment here unless you are prepared to wait a long time in the lobby. I recently went to Denton Veterinary Center and had to wait 45 minutes for my scheduled appointment with a vet tech. All my dog needed was a quick vaccine. After both 20 minutes and 35 minutes I checked in at the front desk to see how much longer I'd have to wait, as I had to be somewhere. The staff never apologized and just said they'd try to see when a vet tech was available. When the tech finally came out she rushed my dog in the back, came back out and handed him over to me without any exchange of words. It would have been nice if she had told me he needed a second shot within the next few weeks or possible side effects, etc. She just seemed bothered and annoyed. My previous scheduled appointment with the vet I also waited 45 minutes. They make you wait in the lobby with your pet, rather than putting you in the exam room with your pet to wait like many other vet clinics do. This is pretty frustrating to wait this long amongst many other people and dogs/cats if your pet is the anxious type. I will not be returning to this place in the future. read more

Hello. First of all the doctors are very good. I like them and they have seen several dogs of mine. My complaint is their price gouging. Yes PRICE GOUGING...in this time of greed and inflation. I had my white boxer Winston in there the other day because he was exhibiting possible pain.... They gave him a comprehensive Exam (put a stethoscope to his chest). $70.00. Then they prescribed Gabapentin for the pain. The P.A. came in with a Rx bottle with 60 capsules in it with a price tag of $94.00. I laughed and said write me a prescription ,I'll get if filled at Krogers....I did.....grand total of $7.17. This Same veterinary Center once before when I took another of my white boxers in for itchy ears, they said "Let us get you a "PRESCRIPTION" for the itch...Welll that was $55.00... I got home and looked up the so called prescription and it was over the counter product at Walmart for $11.00. It's time to stand up to price gouging.... read more

Some people in the neighborhood recommended this vet, I have had great experiences here so far. Everyone have been really friendly to me and my dog. My dog has a number of different health issues but they have been really good about diagnosing her conditions as far as I know. They have a lab and can run blood work onsite for most things, which is nice so you can be sure you have the right medicine before you leave. It's been fairly easy to get appointments here, they are only open two Saturday's per week but at least one time I called on a Friday and they had an availability the next day. read more

I absolutely ADORE Dr Wuensche and his staff here at Denton Vet Center. I taught high school history for a year and I was randomly talking to one of my students about my cats (I'm a proud mama) and he suggested that I take them to his father for any veterinarian needs. And he was amazing! Extra bonus that the office was literally over the hill from my Denton apartment. Dr Wuensche is so smart and kind and funny. Whenever I take my cats anywhere, it's kind of an event - in that they are crying and making death sounds, and then try to hide under ANYTHING once they're out of their carriers. Dr Wuensche and the vet assistant was totally cool about it and patient while I tried to wrangle them out of corners and onto the exam table. We even talked about his son's grades and conduct (he was a great kid), so it was a two-fer: annual exams for my cats and parent-teacher conference! I love such efficiency. Seriously, bring your pets here. You cant ask for better care for your animal babies. read more

As a first time pet owner, I was really scared to take my newly adopted kitten to the vet. However, the caliber of the staff and doctors made me feel reassured that my kitten was getting the best care. The staff at this clinic is very knowledgeable and kind. The doctor was very knowledgeable and empathetic and I felt reassured that my kitty was being taken care of from a passionate staff. Due to covid-19, no one is allowed inside the clinic other than staff (and the animals obviously). However, the staff does a great job with keeping you in the loop as your fur baby undergoes their examinations/treatment. The doctor gave me free heart worm medication due to the wait. This was really nice considering that they had an emergency that resulted in the euthanasia of an animal. That situation was completely out of their control yet they took my waiting time into account. Definitely recommend this place to everyone ! read more

I have had mixed experiences over the years with veterinarians and wanted to make sure I took my boy Klaus to the best in town. I saw that DVC and Dr Wuensche had great reviews but I thought " yeah sure ok, nobody is THAT good right ?" Well dr Wuensche and the staff really are THAT good. They answered every question and addressed every concern ( which were many) and showed patience and genuine care about my pup's wellbeing. I'll start by saying that this review is pretty late- I took my dog to DVC about a year ago, and I was very excited to go because of all the great reviews. However, I was pretty dissapointed. The staff there was incredibly rude and made me feel uncomfortable for the entirety of my experience. I make sure to be kind to staff wherever I go, and my dog is an older, well behaved girl. In my opinion, the vet was good and listened to my concerns, but I don't want to go somewhere that treats me like poo, especially when it's unwarranted. Took our new puppy here for a test to see if she had worms. We paid a test that cost around $90 to test her which came back as negative, although the following night we were able to see worms in our pups stool. When I called they explained to me the test and the process and why they werent able to catch worms at a vet that charges $90 for an inaccurate test that an owner can see where their own eyes. They offered very little in terms of equity. A few days later we returned for worm medicine which they charged for like $35! We didn't realize you could buy the same medication for around $7 until we were out the door and in the car. We walked back in but because we had left the store they would not issue us a refund even partially. The only thing they offered was $10 off a vaccine they probably over charge you for anyway. Not a very transparent store I recommend going elsewhere, we know we will. read more

Myself, many friends, and family all took our pets to Dr. Weunsche while he was still at Southridge Animal Hospital and followed him to DVC when it came about. Just saying! If you are planning on getting your babies teeth cleaned, Be Smarter than I was! The DR. told me it would cost 399. plus EXTRACTIONS are extra but they are taking off 15% this month. I took my baby in and my bill was 811. Of course I had some medicines and extractions. But how in the world did this get to 811. So they explained to me that each tooth with two roots was charged by the root as well as teeth with three roots also charged by the root! WHAT!~ I was told by the DR. EXTRACTIONS and the approximate price for each one to find out it was double or triple in price per EXTRACTION! The front desk lady said " OH WE NEVER CALL THEM EXTRACTIONS, WE CALL THEM ROOTS and said you can look at where you signed for this. At this point I showed her where it had been hand written in, EXTRACTIONS! Then she disappeared to the back what seemed like forever! The tech came out really ready to let me have it how it all works! Looking for a new Vet if anyone could recommend one in Denton or Corinth! read more

My previous vet didn't see any need to treat him so I went to DVC on the recommendation of a friend. My Basset Hound is a little toot and not easy to work with even when he's not in pain. We were both a nervous wreck when we arrived. Dr. Quast, Dr. Lindsay and the staff went above and beyond to comfort both me and my little man. I've been a client ever since. Very disappointed in this veterinarian office. Appointment was at 10:15 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2020. Because they're not letting anybody into the lobby; I called as soon as I arrived, describe where I was parked and the make and color of my vehicle. I waited patiently as customers came and went but noticed that customer that arrived after me had their pet being seen before mine. I understand they were extremely busy you can see that with all the cars in the parking lot. However giving them the benefit of the doubt I waited patiently and I called them at 11:00AM asking what was taking so long since I've been there since 10:15 AM. The girl stated they were behind schedule and they were trying to work as fast as possible. I advised her that people are being seen that arrived after I did and I wanted to know why. She handed the phone off to another associate who said she was going to go check with someone in the back. Next thing I know a vet doctor gets on the phone and reiterates they're very busy and they're behind schedule. I told her that was unacceptable because I've been there for 45 minutes. Sitting in my car with my pet while idling polluting the air (Texas heat 96 feels like 106) which they are requiring since Covina-19. I informed her that other pets are being seen when they have clearly overlooked my appointment. She stated that I had only been waiting for 15 minutes and my appointment was at 10:45 AM. I said no, my appointment was at 10:15 AM and this was confirmed by text twice and by phone. She had nothing more to say except that she was sorry and if I wanted to reschedule. I was so upset with her; I reiterated I've been waiting 45 minutes and now you want me to reschedule because your staff doesn't have their stuff together, to monitor customers time of scheduled appointments. So unprofessional! I was so irritated that people can be so irresponsible and treat customers this way. They wasted my time, my gas and the inconvenience of having to drive 30 minutes to them to wait 45 minutes and still not be seen is just bad business! My cat was very stressed, and upset because of this experience as well for this was her first outing since she was a kitten. The sad thing is, is that I had other pets (dog and cat) be seen by this veterinarian office before my pets passed away in 2019. I'm very, very disappointed in my experience today with them. I would not recommend this veterinarian office; I'm very disheartened to have to make this complaint when it could've been avoided. They need to learn how to manage their time and not overbook themselves so everyone's pet gets seen in in a timely manner. read more

So I've had a mixed bag with Dr. Wuensche and Dr. Ingram in the 7 years I've been seeing him. Ultimately, I am searching for a new vet here in Denton. Don't mistake me, Dr. Wuensche is such a great person and so caring and Bobbi his office manager is the coolest lady ever. I've locked horns with Dr. Ingram, though. Firstly, I was sold on Dr. Wuensche when he was able to improve the quality of life of my cat by 200% when no one else was able to and the last couple of years I was able to give my cat were just priceless and I can never thank him enough for that. However, I took my cat in for treatment one day and Dr. Ingram was on duty and she told me that there couldn't be anymore treatment and that I needed to let him go. So I asked her to give me a few minutes alone with him as this was sudden news and I thought it was only fair and appropriate. Right? Well, I had 10 minutes in the room before she was knocking on the door and I asked for a just a little longer and she had the audacity to ask me how much longer I needed. Maybe I was being too sensitive, but I was infuriated. It was a sensitive time. Then there were your typical visits in between with my other two cats. He successfully treated my cat's psycho alopecia, gave them shots, etc. Then I brought my cat in for a swollen foot he had been limping on for almost a week. Dr. W diagnosed it as a bug bite, gave him an antihistamine, and sent him home. Another week passed and no improvement so I took my cat back and Dr. Ingram saw him. She said it was a broken foot. How you can diagnose a broken foot as a bug bite in the first place I don't know, but I was not amused. So they put a cast on my cat and sent me home with an anti-inflammatory. It made my cat sick and by sick I mean barfing up everything in his system, stomach seizures, and him laying in a corner screaming in pain. I had to take him to the emergency room where they told me I was lucky to get him in when I did. When I got home I researched the drug. It's not approved for medicating cats and has been known to kill cats. I understand that there's just not alot in the way of choices when it comes to pet prescriptions and you have to go with what you got, but I feel like the vet's office should have warned me about possible side effects and risks associated with the drug so that I could make the decision of whether or not to medicate him. (By the way it's 3 years later and my cat still has problems with his foot which I attribute to a delayed diagnosis and treatment.) I called the office the next day to let them know about the incident and no one really apologized for the lack of information. My cat damn near died and I've learned a lesson in the importance of researching drugs now. What a mess THAT whole thing was. Anyway. Between all that and their crazy high prices for vaccinations ($142 is what they just told me to have my 1 dog vaccinated), I unfortunately will be looking for a new vet. :-/ read more

I have a feeling I may have just ended up at this vet on the wrong day at the wrong time, but my experience here was nothing short of a nightmare. My cat has been dealing with a bladder infection over the past month or two under another vet's care, but after multiple failed medicine attempts to fix it, I decided to try to find another vet in the area. I found DVC listed as Denton Record Chronicles "Best Vet 2013" and figured it'd be a safe bet. My cat's condition had greatly worsened overnight and I was relieved that DVC was able to get me in same day with an appointment. I arrived at the clinic about 15 mins early to fill out new patient paperwork and hopefully let my letting guy be seen sooner to get some relief. The new location is in a very nice office building and it had a good feel when I walked in, unlike many other vets in the area. When I arrived there was only one poor girl working the front desk by herself and she seemed pretty frazzled. After helping about 5 people that walking in after me, she eventually got to putting in my paperwork and led me back to an exam room. This was still a couple of minutes before my 2:30pm appointment, but it didn't look like there was anyone else in the exam rooms and I saw multiple staff members hanging out and chatting behind the back desk, so I figured we'd be seen soon. But they forgot us. For almost an hour, they forgot we were waiting. Apparently it was a "day from hell," with only one doctor and one receptionist... or that's what they told me when I was finally able to chase someone down to help us over 50 minutes later. I reluctantly left my cat to try to find someone earlier and the place was a ghost town... not a single other patient or staff member in sight. A pizza had been delivered while I was in the waiting room and apparently break time took precedence over my cat's well being, who was near passing out from pain this whole time. Bad deal. The halfhearted apologies I did receive were more of a "we're not normally like this" excuse rather than a genuine apology. The vet, who never introduced herself, came in and said they were just going to take his temperature and would bring him right back. 15 minutes later another lady came back without my cat saying she had done xrays on him, checked him over (not in the room with me or letting me know any of this), and was about to sedate him to begin a procedure. I did not consent to ANY of this and didn't even have a chance to see my cat beforehand in case something went wrong. She finally took the time to go over the issue, squatting down next to me like I was a child and telling me that we needed to follow her recommendation or he "won't make it through the weekend." I honestly still don't know if I even believed her. They wanted me to do a few extra things and take him to the animal ER for observation after wards, quoting me almost $1,300. Unfortunately, there was no trust here, but I wasn't willing to risk my pet's life on my frustration, so I approved the most basic $441.72 treatment and opted to take him home after wards. I'm thankful that they figured out what was going on with my pet and were able to give him relief, but I NEVER will go back to Denton Veterinary Center based on the poor treatment my cat and I received. The staff was friendly when I could find them, but it did not make up for the issues we experienced. I've heard Family Pet Clinic on Teasley is supposed to be better, so I'll be giving them a try next. read more

She was told her dog was the most vicious dog they had ever seen after cutting her nails without a muzzle and cutting one too short causing her to bleed. My animals have been going to the Denton Vet Center for over 10 years. I've never waited longer than 5 minutes and there has been no more than 1 animal in the waiting area while I was there. The staff are always in a very good mood and the docs all take their time with my pets. I had to have my cat euthanized and they did everything they could to comfort me. I received a sympathy card later and it made my family feel like they really cared. They are a little more expensive than most vets but you get what you pay for. I've never gone there wondering if my animals were going to get the best care. The cost is well worth it. As long as I have pets (which will be for the rest of my life) I'll take them to the Denton Vet Center. Thank you for caring for my pets as much as I do. read more

They lied about procedure costs, don't notify you of important dates (like shot renewal), didn't even contact me to let me know they moved locations and were generally rude!
