Humiliated, embarrassed me which was very hurtful and shocking when he yelled out loud enough for others to hear in the salon, His words~~~I DON'T LIKE YOU, YOU TALK TOO MUCH!!! Nancy the manicurist and her client seem embarrassed for me. He seems to be a prima donna like he is doing you a favor to do your nails. I was not familiar with a Bio Gel manicure, so I asked him what is the difference between Bio Gel and acrylics. I wanted his opinion. He takes my hand and does not answer me. He did not want to talk as I found out the second time I made an appointment with him. I noticed after my first manicure the sides of the nails were ragged so I mentioned this to him nicely: Can you eliminate this by making the gel thicker on the sides? He got an attitude grabbed my fingers and said CLOSE YOUR EYES AND RELAX, listen to the music. He proceeded to tell me to relax my fingers several times. I felt uncomfortable so I started speaking to the client next to me about her choice of Acrylics or gel. She preferred Acrylics to gel as this type of manicure did not hold up for her. I looked back at the nails he was putting the product on and for no other reason I did not know where else to look. He said do not look here close your eyes and listen to the music. When he was done with my manicure he says I DON'T LIKE YOU YOU TALK TOO MUCH. I tried to figure out why he would act this way. My deduction, he does not like questions, and I also pissed him off by speaking with my neighbor. Plus the fact I had an appointment with him of which he took someone ahead of me, he was 45 minutes late for my appointment. I have been coming to affection nails since I was maybe five years old. I grew up in Agoura and this is the only nail salon I would choose in the city. A big shout out to TIO !! He is my new guy, such a perfectionist I love it !! he paid a lot of attention to the details that most others wouldn't , he was gentle with the scrubber most people just jab at you lol. Nancy is also good and if you're going to get a pedicure I would highly recommend Henry but for acrylics and Nails TIO is the man. My pedicure was done by Tina and my manicure was done by Ana. The facility is very open and clean. Tools are sterilized. Great pedicure chairs, not too big, comfortable and are very adjustable. I went in for acrylic nails, the manicurist did not apply the tips and just put the acrylic powder directly on my nails. I questioned him on what he was doing and and another manicurist came over and said it was better for my nails and they would last longer. Long story short.... It's was a lie, and I ended up getting a bacterial infection under my nails because they weren't sealed correctly. When I ended pulling them off a week later I found green nasty spots. The manicure was really well done and it was two weeks before it started to chip a little bit. The ladies here are really sweet and don't rush through your manicure like I have experienced at other salons. I love that they take walk ins with slim to no waiting time. I've been here one other time to get my nails done for my graduation. They do GREAT gels! This time I got a regular mani pedi and was taken care of right away. The employees there talked to me a lot and only a little to each other. I went with my mom and my sister and we are all quite impressed! My mom and I received french manicures and my sister got neon nails with flowers. They gave me a really long foot and hand massage, no extra charge, and made sure I had water if I needed it or a fan. I've been going to Affection Nails for a almost three years now. Mindy is the best. She is sweet and friendly and does a great french manicure! She is also very artistic and specializes in freehand nail art. I haven't been to many of the other technicians so I can't say whether they are great or not. I just go back to Mindy every time. Since I'm home for the holidays, it seemed like an opportune time to introduce my mom to my favorite girly guilty pleasure: a nice pedicure. I called around ten in the morning and made an appointment for 2 pm, no problems. The gentleman I talked to on the phone was very nice and businesslike. We got there really early, though--we'd gone to lunch at the deli and finished really early--but no problem; even though they were busy, they took us right away, both me and my mom. It's a nice place. They don't have as wide a variety of colors as I'm used to at my usual place in Seattle--I mean, they have lots of different shades, but most in the orange-red-purple part of the spectrum, and I'm a Sharks fan, and therefore mighty fond of teal, which they didn't have. Our $14 got us the usual massage and callus treatment and whatnot, though we just got a quick soak in a plastic tub and not the whole foot spa thing. One of the nicest things about this place was the people--my mom has had several surgeries on one of her toes and was worried that they would be rough with her, but Mindy, the young lady who did my mom's pedicure, listened when my mom mentioned it and was very very careful with her massage, in addition to painting my mom's toes a fetching shade of sparkly wine red. My mom had a really good time and came out all relaxed, which was just what I'd been going for, and says her feet feel fantastic--mine do, too! read more

Only ever went here occasionally because they charged $10 for a mani while everyone else in town charged $12. I recently found out they had just recently raised their prices to $12/manicure AFTER already getting a manicure. I feel like they should have had signs up or made it be more known that they had just raised their prices. I understand they are pricing themselves the same as their competition and they're entitled to do that, however, if I'm going to pay the average $12 anyway, I would rather go somewhere that's better quality. read more

Ok, I will tell you that this place makes the best flower mani/pedis ANYWHERE. I've been to a zillion nail salons and no one makes hand-made flower designs like Affection, not even close! One star because the lady I had who was giving me my fake nails cut me three times using the mechanical filer and when she put the before polish on it burned like crazy. When I told her it hurt she didn't say anything. She didn't make my nails all even and she left a ton of polish around my nails when she was done and I had to ask her to clean them up twice because I was still left with a ton of polish around my nails. I forget I've been such a long-time customer until I return for my annual mani-pedi shlep (my mom makes me do up the fingers and toes when we visit the family so I don't embarrass them) and they ask about everything. The lady who has always done my manis and pedis is Lily, and she is amazing. Flawless, and like Joanna G. says, they do the best flower or other tiny decorations EVER. Hand-painted and adorable. Teo and Lynne are amazing ! They're all pretty good actually , and all very kind , but they are the two people I usually go to! They are gentle , kind and always do an amazing job! This place used to be good but I went there over the holidays and wasn't impressed. The polish selection is seriously lacking, the ladies were not very friendly (the gal doing my nails was on her cell phone and massing my hands at the same time), and while they supposedly take credit cards, when I asked if I could pay by credit card, she responded with "don't you have cash?" I get that they have to pay a few cents when they take credit cards, but if they accept them, they should not pressure their customers into paying with cash. Also, my nails chipped within a day. $22 for a mani-pedi is a pretty good price but I'd rather pay a few more bucks for a better experience. I won't be back. read more

Just moved to Agoura Hills. I was looking around for a local nail salon and found Affection Nails. I decided to try it out and found this place to be fantastic. My search was over. I tried a couple other nails salons but found Affection Nails to be superior both in service and quality of work. My primary manicurist at Affection Nails is Mindy. Not only does she do a great job, she is very professional and friendly. She is very easy to talk to and we always had great conversations.
