There was also very little attention to detail, and I still had to pay full price for the incorrect, messy service w a completely different color than I asked for. I went to Nail Blvd at the end of October for the first time while looking for a new nail salon in…read morethe area. The place I usually go to near my home in Thousand Oaks does a decent job, but the staff is rude and unfriendly, so I decided to try somewhere new. Important detail: my Gel-X set was done at a different salon. When I first went to Nail Blvd, Kevin was doing a refill, not a full set. That first refill was good. Kevin was really nice, the salon was clean and pleasant, and my nails held up just fine. I left thinking I might have found a new spot. Two weeks ago, I went back again for another refill, and whatever was done this time was completely different. Four days later, my left pinky nail broke off and took my natural nail down really low. It hurt. I called and Kevin told me I could come in and he would fix it, but I didn't have time to go back right away. After that, everything fell apart. One by one, my nails started bending, breaking, and ripping my natural nails. They were incredibly soft and flimsy. Every time I scratched my leg or did anything normal, the nails would bend and then break, damaging my real nails underneath. It was honestly the worst nail experience I've ever had in my life, and I'm 45 years old and have been getting my nails done for a very long time. I don't know what was done differently the second time, but it clearly wasn't the same as the first refill. Kevin is a nice guy and the salon itself is nice, but the quality of that second visit was unacceptable. I won't be going back. Thankfully, a friend recommended another place in Newbury Park that I went to today, and it was the best nail job I've ever had. I've officially found a new nail salon. Consistency matters. The first refill was fine. The second was a complete disaster. Based on that, I do not recommend Nail Blvd.

And first time I did gel on my feet. But it is a Russian technique, not typical gel. Nataliya is really great! I can see why people can't go back to regular manicures or pedicures after Russian. I had a Russian manicure before in Santa Monica but this one was much better. The technique is something I have never had done before. I wanted something natural looking and she did just that. She built my length with the gel alone; no added tip! She is very knowledgeable too and funny by the way. Her space is private and QUIET. Aaahh I miss quiet. Easy parking too. Back to the nails. I am on week 2 and they still look and feel great. Yes, it does cost substantially more than my typical gel manicures and pedicures but I can see myself going in less because they will last longer. I will definitely be going back.

I saw they'd opened another location in Oak Park, and I saw online they had Tu listed as a manicurist. I booked with him online for acrylic nails with a gel polish, showed up, and he wasn't in the salon. Did he leave the salon altogether or was he not there today? Why was I able to book an appointment with him if he wasn't working today? I am so disappointed in my acrylic nails. 1. Most alarmingly, she filed my sidewalls. That is just SOMETHING YOU DONT DO. 2. The nails themselves are super thick and lumpy - largest (tallest) at the ends of the nails. 3. They are insanely messy underneath. I have gotten acrylic nails since... 2010 on and off, and never have I left the salon with glue and build up UNDER the nails. The manicurist has always taken the sharp bit to clean up underneath. Because it has been so hot lately, I've been wearing open-toed shoes and noticed the heavy chipping immediately. Since I have never asked for a fix before, I called ahead and scheduled a time with Tracy to come in and get the polish corrected. When I arrived at my scheduled time, the technician who originally did my nails (I believe her name is Cindy) was visibly furious. She had a deeply angry expression and treated me with complete disgust and hostility just for asking to fix her own flawed work. When I politely asked her if the quick chipping might be due to the quality of the polish or the top coat, she completely ignored my question, remaining entirely rude and unprofessional. She rushed through the fix in under five minutes. Then, before my toes were even dry, she marched back over, aggressively turned off my massage chair, and literally pointed at the door, signaling for me to get out.I have never been treated with such disrespect, hatred, and blatant hostility at any business in my life. I had to repeatedly ask for corrections because the pedicure wasn't being done properly. Even the other employees seemed to notice something was wrong because I kept pointing out issues with my nails. I also paid an extra $10 for exfoliation, but he spent most of that time exfoliating my legs while I was asking him to please focus on my feet, where I still had a lot of dead skin that hadn't been removed. Despite bringing up my concerns several times, I was still charged the full price. I appreciate that he was friendly, but the quality of the service didn't match what I paid for. I would recommend trying another nail salon.
