Today I got there nobody greeted me I looked around and some ladies were looking at me and when I said manicure pedicure please nobody said hi or acknowledged me they just looked at me and nobody said anything. I went to the bathroom and finally somebody showed me where to sit. the lady doing my pedicure and manicure was actually rude and made angry faces at me. Stopped in here last week on the off chance they were open and had availability for a gel manicure. Kathy filed and shaped my nails and put the black bio gel on. She was super friendly and I am happy with the service. I came here to have my toes become beautiful again. This is a quiet corner in Agoura Hills-but Affection Nails can be very busy when the weekend approaches. I usually try to go in to most nail places on Monday or Tuesday because I have asked many nail salons "what are your busy days? Slowest days?" They all seem to have Monday and Tuesday as their calm days. That's when I want to go. Wednesday thru Sunday is busier-and keeps them hopping. So yes, it's Tuesday and I am here. It's quiet, calm, I turn the massage chair on, yes-it rolls up and down my back as the two manicurists work their magic cleaning my cuticles, wrapping hot towels around my legs, 10 minute massages on hands & feet and then the final curtain...the polish is applied. I have traditionally worn calmer, pastel colors-but maybe as I grow older-I take a few more risks. I mention this because 20 minutes ago I watched her remove my bright, neon lime green polish. It is fun mixing it up. It's also nice to be pampered, to relax, to enjoy the quiet time. Today-I am calmer-in my polish color-it's a peachy-coral and I like it! Bill comes out to $36 dollars-and that is for the Spa Manicure & Pedicure. I also add a tip and then carefully walk outside to my car-being sure to not smear my toes as I step. A quick stop at my Starbucks nearby and I am off to run more errands. Just want to wrap up by saying the manicure crew here have always been nice, they offer longer massages, which you can pay a little extra for neck, foot, or hands to be massaged a little longer. You can also ask them about their flower designs too-they can do them, not as fancy as some other places, but they can do designs. Just ask! It's a great mall -with food options and some really cute clothing stores, etc as well so swing by and enjoy being pampered. read more

DO NOT GO Rude & Dishonest I been to this salon 3 times. *First time was good. *Second time was ok but an acrylic popped off in two days (weird but things happen) *Third time: the man doing the acrylics was rude, bossy and treating a paying customer like that was appalling. Example: He said, "Don't do that, I told you!" He also refused to remove my acrylics. (So weird!) & just began dipping them in the solution when I told him that I wanted them removed. (Weird!) Then, I got a pedicure which was to be a regular pedicure but the woman actually put gel on... when I asked her why she was putting gel on my toes, she denied it and said it was regular. (I asked her several times about the gel and she continued to deny it was gel on my pedicure. Side note: (I have been getting my nails done since 1985 I know what gel is.) When I was ready to leave, she told me that bc she put "Gel on"my feet it was $$ I corrected her, told her I didn't want gel and she told me it was not gel. So she said "ok, then I will only charge you for regular pedicure." Never going back. Disappointed bc it looks nice in there and I know they moved locations ... was hoping to be a regular customer and refer them business but I will NOT return and I will NOT refer this salon to anyone. read more

Got an acrylic fill here. Not many colors of acrylic to choose from. Cost was average at 25$. I went to Nancy. She did an ok job. Lengths are a little uneven She cut the ring finger on my left hand at the cuticle. Other than that they are cute. Good quality acrylic, no lifting. The thing that really pissed me off was the lady at the front. Not sure if she was a receptionist or what. But as I was getting my nails done she kept bumping into my chair, hard too. It was hard enough for the drill to slip and almost cut me. She did that almost 5 times and didn't say anything about it. Super rude. Because of that, I most likely won't be back. Just so sub par. Very disappointed with my pedicure. She barely removed the dead skin around the nails. She did a poor job on the cuticles. The worst part was when I went to pay. I paid with Venmo and she kept looking over my shoulder to see my phone. Whalen I pulled my phone away and stepped back from her as she was completely crowding my personal space, she stepped towards me and reached for my phone so she could see what I was doing! It was by far one of the rudest experiences I've ever had at a nail salon. For that behavior alone I will never ever go back. I also witnessed another worker behaving similarly to another patron, even saying to her "where's my tip, you don't do tip". For a place with a sign saying that they are newly opened, not a great way to start a new business. Guess it's a good thing there is a nail salon on every corner and many other choices. read more

I'll start by saying they were amazingly nice here. It kinda stops there tho. The nail color selection was completely subpar and they do not have matching gel color to regular colors. They were out of one color completely and their overall selection was limited. I was surprised when they had me walk by the completely empty pedicure massage chairs and put me at a nail station. I had to be completely twisted to get my pedicure while she was doing my gels at a regular station table. Hard to relax when your body is facing two different directions! My pedicure for what it was was good. My gel manicure was awful. She didn't cut my cuticles or put cuticle oil on after (and they are so dry and needed some major attention). I trust everyone at Affection Nails. They take the utmost care and protection during this crisis. I've been going to them for approximately 15 + years. Brian and the complete staff make me feel like a member of their family. The governor of CA doesn't realize that some of us need to have our nails done due to damaged nail beds. Personally my nails start to split down the middle due to a car accident. I was hit on the passenger side of my car by an unlicensed teenager who ran a stop sign. This caused my hand to slam driver's door broke three fingers. On my left hand the ring finger was not just broken, the knuckle was shattered. Unfortunately side doors on cars weren't equipped with airbags yet. I wish the governor would stop saying having your nails done is only for cosmetic purposes. He might also consider that having your hair done is a health necessity also. He is really causing a medical hardship for many people. I've been driving way too far for pedicures, so in the pursuit of a smaller carbon footprint I tried Affection Nails. Their window says they are closed on Sundays, but they were open and doing good business. They share a parking lot with the Farmer's Market so being open is good strategy. I specifically requested a spa pedicure, but I did see folks getting regular non-spa pedicures. The difference in price is $10; the spa includes exfoliating and cooling mask. My spa pedi with callous remover was $31, a competitive price in my experience. I forgot to get my girl's name, but she was super sweet and did a fantastic job on my feet. Bottom line: I'll be going back to Affection Nails. UPDATE 10/31/11: The recession has caught up to me so now I go to Affection Nails for the regular pedicure (feet in the bucket of water), no callous remover. The charge is $14 which fits my budget. The gal I like is Jenny, she only works on Sundays so you need to make an appointment. Super convenient and always friendly. read more

TEO the male manicurist. Humiliated, embarrassed me which was very hurtful and shocking when he yelled out loud enough for others to hear in the salon, His words~~~I DON'T LIKE YOU, YOU TALK TOO MUCH!!! Nancy the manicurist and her client seem embarrassed for me. He seems to be a prima donna like he is doing you a favor to do your nails. I was not familiar with a Bio Gel manicure, so I asked him what is the difference between Bio Gel and acrylics. I wanted his opinion. He takes my hand and does not answer me. He did not want to talk as I found out the second time I made an appointment with him. I noticed after my first manicure the sides of the nails were ragged so I mentioned this to him nicely: Can you eliminate this by making the gel thicker on the sides? He got an attitude grabbed my fingers and said CLOSE YOUR EYES AND RELAX, listen to the music. He proceeded to tell me to relax my fingers several times. I felt uncomfortable so I started speaking to the client next to me about her choice of Acrylics or gel. She preferred Acrylics to gel as this type of manicure did not hold up for her. I looked back at the nails he was putting the product on and for no other reason I did not know where else to look. He said do not look here close your eyes and listen to the music. When he was done with my manicure he says I DON'T LIKE YOU YOU TALK TOO MUCH. I tried to figure out why he would act this way. My deduction, he does not like questions, and I also pissed him off by speaking with my neighbor. Plus the fact I had an appointment with him of which he took someone ahead of me, he was 45 minutes late for my appointment. I would NEVER write a review if my nails came out bad, I would go to someone else. I had no closure, so this is the way I feel closure. read more

I tried this place because it was close to where I was living. On the plus side, they are open on Sundays, you're allowed to tip on your credit/debit card (a big deal for me since I rarely carry cash), and everybody was very pleasant. I got a lot of compliments on how cute my toes looked as well. On the down side - there is a very "cost conscious" feel about the place - I was the only person there getting a spa pedicure, everyone else had their feet sitting in plastic tubs, and the nail polish tended to not be OPI / Essie. And the nail polish on my toes chipped in a week. So - if I was in a pinch, I'd go again. If I had the time, I'd explore other options. read more

Went for pedicures with a friend, and chose this place because it was close and they'd let us walk in. What a mistake. I joined Yelp just to write this review, because the positive reviews for this place led me astray! They had spa-style pedicure chairs, but sat us in rolling office chairs with our feet in plastic tubs lined in garbage bags. No joke. It was impossible to completely relax because the chair and the place to put your feet were both on wheels, so they rolled around a bit. The pedicure itself was average. My friend asked for a flower and got one on each toe that was completely different, because the pedicurist made a mistake on the second one. I messed up one of my own toes because she moved on to another customer without helping me put my flip-flops on. Thought that was kind of standard procedure. I paid with a $20 bill for a $14 pedicure, and she didn't bring me change. Nope, sorry, I am not giving you a 40% tip "accidentally."
