A mis hermanos latinos: no sean víctimas de estos estafadores. I am a Veteran who made the mistake of stopping at Advantage Toyota of Valley Stream while traveling from out of state. I expected professional service; instead, I was subjected to a predatory "stewing" tactic that lasted from 2:00 PM until after dark. To those who say 'you could have just walked out': When a dealership takes your keys for an appraisal and refuses to return them after three explicit requests, you are no longer a customer--you are being detained by the withholding of your only means of transportation. As an out-of-state visitor with no other way to leave, I was effectively trapped. I didn't sign a $915/month lease because I wanted a deal; I signed because it was the only way to get my property back and finally go home. 1. The Insurance Sabotage: To hide the true cost of this $915 note, the staff committed a blatant act of financial sabotage. Without my knowledge or consent, they fudged my insurance policy to liability-only just to show a "cheap" quote. This left me legally exposed, in breach of my lease, and facing a $500/month insurance correction ($1,400 total monthly) once I restored the required full coverage. 2. The Math: After $2,000 down, I am paying over $54,000 for a truck valued at $40k-$45k. This was not a "favor"; it was a calculated exploitation of a service member. PUBLIC NOTICE: If you have been held against your will, had your property withheld, or had your insurance tampered with at this location, do not stay silent. Report these facts immediately to: Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs: (516) 571-2600 NY Dept. of Financial Services (Insurance Fraud Division): (888) 372-8369 These agencies need to be made aware of these practices. I had a very disappointing experience at this Toyota dealership and feel it's important to share my experience so others can be cautious. The process took the entire day, with repeated assurances that they would be able to meet the specific monthly payment we requested. Based on those promises, we were encouraged to move forward, including transferring our belongings to the new vehicle and switching over our license plates before even meeting with the finance manager. Once we finally sat down with the finance manager, the experience became even more concerning. We were asked to begin signing documents before being clearly told what the final monthly payment would be. When the payment amount was finally disclosed, it was nearly double what we had discussed and agreed to earlier in the day. It felt as though the full financial details were intentionally delayed until after paperwork was already in progress. This process felt misleading and unprofessional. I strongly recommend that anyone considering purchasing here insist on seeing and confirming the exact monthly payment in writing before signing anything, transferring insurance, moving personal belongings, or switching plates. Transparency and honesty are essential in major financial decisions like purchasing a vehicle. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I would advise others to proceed with extreme caution. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I traveled from a distance for a specific used vehicle. They did not honor the price that was advertised. I should have walked out the door at that point but they wore me down. Once I agreed to a price it was hours upon hours before the car was ready and the financials were in place. I'm pretty sure they forgot about me once they had a deposit. I think it was probably 6 hours all told that I sat in their dealership waiting. I bought a gold certified used car but that apparently means nothing. The car had had a minor accident where the rear lift gate had apparently sustained some damage. The carfax reported as much but it looked fine so I didn't worry about it because it's certified. The salesperson mentioned it in passing but I was never given a written copy of the report. Shame on me for not investigating further. It turns out the certified warranty doesn't cover pre-existing damage (shouldn't a certified car not have pre-existing damage if it's been inspected properly?). A couple months later I notice water leaking through the rear hatch. The car had been fixed but not done properly (no idea who did the work--probably someone else to be fair). The lift gate button and wiring harness need to be replaced as well as the rear window replaced or re-sealed due to water leakage. The price for those fixes is $2000. Toyota does not want to cover it because it is "pre-existing damage." Avoid this dealership at all costs. They don't inspect cars properly and won't back up their cars. Terrible customer service to top it all off. read more

Advantage Toyota of Valley Stream - 2025 Toyota Prius Plugin XSE in Cutting Edge (silver). Not at dealership. - Car Dealers Near Me - Valley Stream, New York

This dealership is a classic Bait-and-Switch scam. I reached out via Autotrader, as I saw a 26 Sienna listed at a discount. Roshane called me the next day saying they have the minivan coming in within the next week or so. When I said I want to buy it, not only did the discount disappear, but now he wanted to charge me $7k over MSRP!!!! Scamming scum. I am referring this place to NYS Attorney General. These scammers should have their dealer license pulled. read more

This place is an absolute waste of time! Absolutely terrible experience. This dealership is a complete joke when it comes to communication and honesty. After agreeing to buy a car, we were left waiting for over 3 hours with zero updates or explanation as to what was taking so long. Our salesperson gave us a false price just to get us to agree, and when we finally sat down with the finance manager, the number was completely different. The dishonesty and lack of respect for customers' time is unbelievable. Save yourself the headache and take your business somewhere that actually values honesty and basic courtesy. read more

Salesperson Eric Casto and his manager repeatedly tried to add hidden fees that were never mentioned beforehand. When asked to remove them, they pretended to "negotiate" while simply making me wait at the reception for 20-30 minutes. They seem to think this is a clever sales tactic, but it only makes them look like dishonest traders. After we finally agreed on a price, they asked for a deposit while waiting for bank approval -- then stopped responding and raised the car's price. They still proceeded with a hard credit inquiry, seemingly as part of continuing their upselling attempts, and never honored the agreed terms. Later they told me that the price had increased because another customer decided to buy the car. In reality, it seems they were just experimenting with pricing at the expense of customers' time and credit scores. I had to contact my credit company to get the deposit refunded, because the salesperson was asking for my card number and CVV to process the refund, which seemed completely unprofessional. read more

Trais in service is very much appreciated for his informative responses and his pleasant nature. I was very pleased in seeing my windshield wiper fluid top off as I drove my car inside. As a customer if I could be present to see all fluids topped off that would be great. I would only appreciate that once the maintenance is completed a sit down could be held with the service person to hear everything that was completed for the maintenance that day. I am beyond disappointed with the experience my son had at Advantage Toyota. I referred him here because I had used them years ago, but the level of service has clearly changed. My son was very clear from the start: he wanted to trade in his vehicle, pay off the balance, and if any remaining equity to use as a deposit on a used vehicle he could actually afford. Instead of listening, the sales team Jason Endara relentlessly pushed him towards a brand-new vehicle. Jason spent the entire day "reassuring" him that everything was going smoothly and that the monthly payments and insurance quotes would fit within his stated budget. He even went as far as to take the plates off his old car, put new ones in the new car before the final paperwork was even clear. The "shocker" came at the end of the day: After being told all day that the numbers worked, the final contract had monthly payments nearly double what he requested and could afford. The insurance quote they "helped" him get was handled so poorly that we have already received a cancellation notice. They took advantage of a first-time solo buyer to secure a higher commission rather than looking out for the customer's best interests. My Advice is "DO NOT sign a single piece of paper here until you see the final balance in writing. They are looking out for their commissions, not your financial well-being. I feel terrible for referring my son to a place that treated him this way. I will be filing a complaint on the Nassau County government website the fact that the plates were switched before the final agreement. read more

I explained to Shermica Malcolm (manager) the lies (partial truths) that Matthew Kass told me about the cost of the car, the ease of charging the vehicle, and the easy access to free chargers nationwide for 1 year for free. Shermica Malcolm called back and told me that there's nothing she can do, everything was explained to me, and I knew what I was signing even though she wasn't there. I said I will be filing a police report against Matthew Kass, I will sue him, I will report Advantage Toyota to the FBI, DA office, DMV, BBB, and she said "ok. Make sure they get my name right". I repeated to Shermica Malcolm that I will be filing a complaint with the DA, DMV, BBB, and more and she said to me "make sure they get my name right" then gave me her card. They ruined my life. They tried to steal $500 deposit from me, then coerced me into taking $10,000 unnecessarily from me (because I was promised that I only needed $4,000 down payment, I waited 5 hours, then at signing told me that I actually needed $10,000 to get the promised monthly payment). Beware of Shermica Malcolm (sales manager) and Matthew Kass. Fraudulent business tactics at this dealership because of their hidden fees and mishandling of peoples $500 deposit (they won't give it back). They will leave you stranded, they will ruin your life and they will drive you crazy. Please make sure you save yourself and do not let them ruin your life too. I paid $20,000 to get out of my lease with them after having the vehicle for 7 days because they are the worst. They got me stranded in the middle night then 7 more days in New York. Save yourself. It took three hours for an oil change and thirty minutes for the valet to bring my car. It was a disastrous experience.

Out of country scheduling for Advantage Toyota of Stream Valley in New York was a pain and required VIN - I was out of country! Appointment was on time, they got me up and running in 7hrs, new Battery and new Alternator. Upon pickup, my driver side pillows were thrown to the passenger side. Upon arriving in Maryland and inspecting the work, I found my red + terminal cover upside down, sitting on the oil dipstick. 10 days later, 20 degree weather, no start. Turn the key, everything lights, turn to start, everything dies, check the cables for tightness, nothing loose. On day three ALL fuses and relays have been checked. I put the meter on the battery, 12.6v. I turn the key to start and it drops to 2.1v, I connect the jump pack, it fires right up (So, open cell in the battery from the cold). Day 3, it warms up 20 more degrees, car now starts on is own. I make an appointment at local Maryland Heritage Toyota, {Alphonso is a jerk, worried about his day, not the customer, "you know that's a salvage title, we don't have to warrant anything".} They test and say the battery is fine, loose negative terminal, "Just came off in his hand" (I checked this first). When I checked under the hood still at the dealer, My red + terminal cover was laying stuffed down between the battery and the Air filter box. {I am still thinking "Cold temp open cell".} If problem persists, I will chargeback on my credit card the cost of the battery and installation, and put in my own Battery. All in All, I'm still not impressed with going to the Dealer. read more

We took our car in before 8 a.m. for routine service and a recall repair. We were assured when we made our reservation that the work would be finished in one day. When we called after noon to find out if our car was ready, we were told they'd need to keep it until after Thanksgiving. After stressful conversations with our service advisor during which he was unhelpful and in our opinions downright argumentative, we needed to ask to speak to the service manager to get the issue resolved. When we picked up the car were were told that they'd only done the warranty repair, not the routine maintenance. But the paperwork said they'd done the routine maintenance. We'd never use the service advisor again and are still considering whether to continue using the service department despite having positive experiences in the past using other service advisors. When they sent us an email requesting that we rate their performance the system would not accept our one star review. That tells me not to believe the ratings they show on their site. read more

Send James in service back to training. He has zero customer service skills, and is useless in helping a customer with problems. Worst case of customer service! If I owned that dealership, I would be very concerned about an employee that obviously didn't care about his customers. James was apathetic and couldn't care any less than he did...LOOKING ST HIS COMPUTER WHILE SPEAKING TO ME.... Knowing that I was extremely upset. He wouldn't call another mechanic to look at the problem after a part that was installed didn't work. I had to wait for the mechanic who worked on the car! My wife just leased a 2024 electric vehicle from here and we had a positive experience. No complaints. Jonathan is a good salesman.

Hey folks. I had an unexpected experience today responding to a promotional email from Advantage Toyota. Calling, I was connected with the main operator for the sales department. After having to hold on for 5 minutes, I called them back. This time the operator advised me that only customers with appointments and in the showroom were being helped currently and I would have to continue to remain on hold for an additional unspecified amount time. This protracted procedure was different than any policies in other dealerships I had spoken with today. Undeterred however, I wanted to continue the good relationship I previously had here. I loved my Camry I got here a few years ago. And it's time to trade in. But then an unfortunate situation occurred as the Valley Stream Toyota operator mistakenly thought that I was on hold and started saying terrible things about me to someone else, not realizing the phone line was still active.. and I could hear absolutely everything she said about me. .. then she must have realized and instead of apologizing, she hung up on me. Wonderful business move! Really?.. You folks like to vilify your customers when you don't think they hear you. Or perhaps.. after they leave. Hey, I was just trying to buy a new $45,000. car from you folks. I did call them back afterwards and tried to speak with a manager. But the Advantage operator lady (who desperately needs some retraining) and probably owes her boss a lot of money from chasing so many viable customers away forever. She completely controls their phone switchboard and refuses to allow calls she doesn't like through to her boss. She just kept hanging up on me. Forcing me to contact Toyota corporate and to have write this review. That will be viewed by eight million folks annually. And..Forever.. Damn, they really don't want any part of my business ever? Is this how your return clients are welcomed. This terrible treatment has jarred me away from my longstanding Toyota loyalty. I didn't understand the weird disconnect today. But I did feel that my business was NOT valued here any longer. I guess I'll have to stick with one of the other places I called today. And after running you mouth about me..I guess Id be foolish to return to spend any money in your service facilities anymore either. I'd be more comfortable buying a car now from mickey mouse instead of here. Postscript, I called another dealer immediately afterward. They were very helpful and actually apologized for the actions of the other dealership. They quickly answered all my questions. And as I'm Teir one and very well qualified, I made a sales appointment to purchase with them instead. I still don't understand what happened at Valley Stream? Unfortunately, as I was denied the opportunity to resolve this matter in house. I was forced to report this incident to Toyota corporate headquarters. Meanwhile.. disgusted, I'm moving on and I won't darken your doorway ever again. Sorry folks, as a result of this experience and no apologies yet. With a week gone by after being disrespected here and no comments from management, this former Advantage customer will never return. Now truly my ONLY one star Yelp experience and review. I'll make certain to tell to all my associates personally and professionally of my terrible experience here. It was all unfortunate and so very avoidable. Disgusted, I'm looking at all other vehicles now like Infiniti, Audi, Accura. Perhaps these high line badges will be more professional. read more

This irony in the name is that they take Advantage of you here. Others had warned me that car dealerships are hell on Earth, but they were only funny stories because I had never experienced buying a car. Let me be clear: Advantage Toyota is hell on Earth. I saw several pre-owned RAV4s at Advantage Toyota that I was very interested in online. I read through all the information of each car including specs, CarFax, owner history, etc. All were great options for me and were within my price range and mileage. I took the trip here on a weekday afternoon after a kind mechanic told me to quickly prepare for my 20 year old cars funeral. I walked in before my appointment time and was greeted by a salesman at the door. Mind you, I'm a short woman nearing my 30s, so I was prepared to be taken advantage of. Poker face activated. The salesman talked to me about what I'm looking for and walked around the lot to show me each car. They looked fabulous and were perfect during the test drive. Great, I thought! We sit down inside to discuss the money. Here comes the meat and potatoes. I want to pay cash in full. I don't want a car payment every month. I'm expecting the price of the car to be what was advertised online. The salesman proceeds to explain the catch. The online price is $18,000. The actual price is $26,000 which is $8K more than advertised. Confused, sweaty, and frustrated, I ask where the price difference comes from. He explained that I would need to finance $24,000 and put $2,000 down. Did I lose you yet? I thought so. I asked the salesman to write down the numbers so that I can understand how the prices add up. I'm holding a pen already, so he says "OK, write this down... 26,000-8,000=18,000. I was shocked. Not at the equation, but at the mansplaining that just took place. He told me that if I financed it and paid it off within 4 months, I would pay "barely any interest." I tell Mr. Salesman that this doesn't make any sense and that I'd like to see the online listing that brought me in in the first place. We read the tiny font at the bottom that says bogus, vague things such as "...must finance through dealer when applicable & take same day delivery... sorry but we cannot extend special Internet pricing without a printed copy of the on-line pricing, and your in-store price may exceed our special on-line pricing. To take advantage of our special Internet discounts, please print this page and present it to your salesperson." I still don't understand. At this point I need a lawyer. I'm fuming. This is my 5th dealership within the past 14 days. I tell Mr. Salesman to please give me back my car key (he took it to give me a trade-in value quote). He stands up and walks away. Minutes later I'm signaled to "come" to who I assume is the manager behind a desk I can barely see over. He, again, mansplains that- and I quote- "it's no secret that we make money on financing- duh!" and is spitting words at me about how the online price is reflective of financing the full amount of the car and doesn't accurately portray the price of the car. "I cannot be the only person who this has frustrated" I say. "Well, no, but..." At this point I'm fuming. When he finally stops spewing B.S. I ask Mr. Deceptive for my key by simply putting out hand. I walk out, and that's that. It doesn't feel good to be deceived or taken advantage of (the irony is so good I had to repeat myself). I should have opened my Yelp app to this page before sitting in traffic for 2 hours to get there. read more
