absolute biggest mistake was getting out of my car to make a purchase at this dealership. the sales person did what typical used car dealers do, which i would not expect at a Mercedes dealership, told me everything that i wanted to hear, even the numbers he quoted me were all wrong when i received my finance package. the vehicle was brought from another dealership, it never came when they told me it would and they had no way of tracking the driver of the delivery truck so i waited with my kid for hours on the day they asked me to come in, which was a week later than they promised, just to receive a vehicle with a bunch of error codes and lights, i had already gave them my vehicle for trade in, so i was stuck. one of the smoothe talking well groomed managers assured me that everything would be good and that they are working on a BIG INCENTIVE that has to be approved from UPSTAIRS to accomodate for my horrible experience.... that never happened, once that got me to sign on the dotted line, they were done with me. The sales person was nice enough to arrange my service appointment, they were good at clearing all the codes however the tech sent me a video stating that the mechanical noises that i was hearing was all because my daughter has a Rosary on her rear view mirror... i cant even make this up he stated that in the video that he sent that was horrible by the way, could not even understand what he was saying, very rude and unprofessional, not sure i want a tech that feels comfortable releasing a service video to a client that was this horrible and even the subtitles were wrong.. is this how business is conducted here at Helms? This dealership service center was a nightmare. They charged you hefty fees for repair but did not do the right work. When there were any flaws or negligence in their work, and you pointed them out, they got really mad and yelled at you, and never made any real effort to correct them. He said that i needed a new tire ($500) and a new rim($1500). As a professional, he must have known that the pirrelli tire was defective and replacement would be honored by the manufacturer. They once tried to get me to spend several hundred dollars replacing spark plugs that were fine. Over a year later I still haven't changed the spark plugs without issue. Don't expect to get your car back in a timely manner either....they don't meet their own time estimates to complete the work and are completely unapologetic about making you wait hours for service they quoted as taking one hour or less. When we stepped out from the dealership last Saturday, we found out my car got scratched at their parking lot by the Mercedes S next to me which was purchased from this dealership. We walked back to the dealership and asked the front desk to get the parking lot camera footage for the record but they said the camera guy was not in the office until following Monday. We then asked nicely to speak to the manger and find out the owner of the other vehicle but the salesperson who is named Ernesto blocked us, lied to us and tried to playing the game with us saying that the manager was in the meeting and he refused and wouldn't allow us to look for her. 5 minuets later it turned out the manger who is named Jennifer was available when we talked to another salesperson. We showed the damage part of my car to the manager, and she promised that she would help look for the owner of the other vehicle for us but she never showed up again in the end as we waited another 15 mins at the parking lot for the answer or solution! It's clear that this dealership wanted to protect their customer who purchased their Mercedes from them before even though he was at fault, and we are still very angry that there's no apologies from the dealership, nor no solution was provided by them since the incident happened. We still don't know who's the owner of the other Mercedes, and we had no other choice but contacting my insurance broker to help us find the owner of the vehicle through the license plate number and claim for his/her insurance to repair for my damage. Mercedes is a nice brand, but I would not recommend to this dealership due to incompetence, dishonest, and poor management team who tried to cover up their customer's fault and refused to provide solution to a potential customer! read more

Let me start out by saying my experience with this place was decent. The sales rep personally delivered the vehicle to me and gave me a decent deal. In July 2017, my first lease ever, I leased a 2017 c43 Amg. It was a dealer demo, under full warranty with 6,900 miles. Now, at 21 months later I have a total of 21,000 miles on the vehicle. I personally put 14,000 on in 21 months (667 miler per month). Please note, I took a 12,000 mile year lease Approximately 2 weeks ago, my check break pad light came on so I brought it to my local mechanic so for a set of eyes and he advised the front brake pad we're wearing and needed to be replaced as if they aren't, the rotors could eventually go as mercedes doesn't cut rotors, they replace them. My mechanic advised that the pads should not have been worn out so quickly. My previous car was an Audi s5 v8 and I had that car for over 3 years and never had any issues like this. I reached out to helms service department and spoke with rich the service manager. He advised he would need to review and revert but he mentioned it may be best to contact the sales manager, Greg. As rich and I were speaking, the phone cut out so I called Greg and explained that I don't feel I should have been responsible for the pads that someone else drove for the first 6,900 and it was not explained to me previously. It's most likely my fault for being a first time leassee so lesson learned. Greg said that it was him that had the vehicle dealer demo and he did baby the car but the brake pads on the amg wear quickly. He then advised he would see what he could do and revert. About 30 minutes later i received a call back from rich stating that he would be able to apply a 20% credit off of the pads but not the labor. 15 minutes after that, the salesperson called me with great news advising that he was able to get me 10% off. I advised him that rich from service just called and said 20%. I don't feel that I should be responsible for these brake pads as I only put 14,000 miles on the car in 21 months and really have no idea or can't prove how the vehicle was driven by the previous person. I reached out to the person who sold me the car via text and advised him that I was upset and felt that I shouldn't have to pay for this as I don't know how it was driven prior to me and if helms wouldn't be willing to absorb the cost I can't, in good faith do business with them anymore. The salesperson seemed to be ok with it and said verbatim "Dude it's brakes. Those things happen. Not cool threatening to not recommend or buy is not gonna help you. We were being generous by assisting you. If you don't want to do business with us because you're upset is totally up to you. Sorry I couldn't help you. Take care" I am not having all Mercedes parts put in by my mechanic whom I have been going to for 15 years at a fraction of the cost. The staff-- Leonard and Reginald-- personally ensured that my better half was guaranteed a quality customer experience for this milestone of hers, her first purchased car. We genuinely left through their doors with such a gratifying feeling of security and trust, which is unfortunately not an absolute guarantee when dealing with dealerships in New York (or anywhere, arguably). Not only was the process very guided yet reasonably swift, but the gentlemen that assisted us were personably, professional, significantly informative, and immensely helpful. It would be a disservice to all other prospective car-seekers within the five boroughs and Long Island if we didn't highlight this greater dealership and experience. I financed a car from helms brother 3 years ago & returned to finance a new car once again. My first experience was truly great and that's why I returned to helms hoping to get some benefit from being a loyal customer (did not happen- they didn't care) and was really disappointed by the sales rep. After 3 hours of negotiating, the sales rep stated he made a "mistake" when it came time to payment and my father asked for confirmation/breakdown of the price again. The mistake was not but plenty. We asked for a quote for three models, receiving the final quotes for each being 732, 625, & 658 The last minute "mistake" was changed to final price being $772, 6$+, $6+ When asked why there was a difference now the sales rep stated he had no idea where got that number from and looked at his screen blankly. Now imagine, 3 hours of negotiation, when asked for deposit we ask for confirmation of the breakdown and he has no explanation for the differences of the prices? It was so frustrating and such a waste of time. Additionally, helms bro and their sales rep stated that since I'm a returning customer they'll take care of my car and the negative equity. We asked for confirmation twice, the first time sales rep stated "it will be completely wiped off, we'll take care of it because you bought it from us." The second time my father asked for confirmation he said "don't worry, it'll be washed out" I'm not sure if that was an Intentional bait or not but I did clarify the misunderstanding. Now comes to the price breakdown when asked for deposit, we actually had to pay the remaining balance in our trade in. What a scheme! That's where we left because he insisted it was a deal as there were benefits trading in our car- however their sales rep is manipulative by stating it'll be "washed out" and "completely wiped off- since you bought it from us" but in the end we had to pay for the cost of that trade in... Highly disappointed. Our negotiation lasted 3 hours and 30 min past closing and both parties were tired. We couldn't understand the last minute "mistakes" Professional customer service means that you don't leave a dissatisfied customer like that, instead he should have responded with the follow: or something similar, I'll leave notes for another sales rep that could follow up with you. That didn't happen. Nonetheless, the sales rep did follow up. But go to a different dealership for Mercedes for your time + money. I wrote on paper the three prices that the sales rep gave me initially while I was in front of him, the fact that the numbers changed last minute and it was unexplainable, is ridiculous. I've been to lots of dealerships and both times I was at Helms Bros. MB, I received sub-par service. The first time was right after they reopened from the pandemic and I made an appointment for a test drive. When I arrived, they had "no record" of my appointment and I was told to wait outside for a few minutes. After I finally got into the car for a test drive, I spent about 15 minutes looking over the interior and checking out the electronics and the infotainment system, then I went for a 15-minute test drive. When I returned, I was asked where I went and what took so long. I explained that I spent half the time in the parking lot. Before the sales representative could answer all my questions, he was interrupted by another client and I was just left there waiting. After about 5 minutes, I just left because I wasn't getting the attention I deserved. I decided to give Helms Bros. another chance a few months later and went back with the goal of putting down a deposit on a new car. The service was just as bad as the first time, if not worse. Again, we waited here and there for someone to assist us. We sat down with a sales woman to talk numbers and answer questions, but she was extremely unfamiliar with the car, albeit it was a new model for the year. After 30 minutes of her looking answers up and looking up inventory (which I told her I already searched), she offered me a maximum of $500 off of MSRP. It was rather insulting as a previous dealer offered $1800 off the same exact built. Ultimately I purchased the car from another dealership at a whopping $2600+ off the MSRP! Out of nowhere my sunroof completely shattered into the car, pouring all over me. After calming down, I called MB road assist where no one answered the whole day. I called my auto insurance company who took care of the tow. NEVER heard from management about this exploding sunroof or to even see how I am doing. and they took no responsibility for it. Car is ONE MONTH old and they told me they can't do anything about it. Bystanders were shocked by what had happened. Only heard from the service manager about the cost of the glass, as they do not cover it. No loaner, nothing. It appears there are lawsuits all over regarding this issue with MB exploding sunroofs. Run away, go to place with professionals. These people are all over you like a bum on a bologna sandwich. From a Pre-qualified thru-MB financing approved serious buyer with an 810 credit score. Look at reviews you can almost tell the 5 stars post are from the dealers themselves.. Only positive note is that the owner himself has a sweet ride, great taste in cars for sure. I wish he put as much effort in the people who work under his name as he does picking his car out. We all work hard for our money and this purchase is something we will have to live with for years. This update is in response to Karen's (not the service manager) response of my review... Yes, I was trying to be upsold on services...that may not be your policy, but that is what happened. As for me being unreachable at work, I NEVER told anyone to call my cell. My work number is the best number to reach me. it is direct and I am ALWAYS at my desk. Had Carmine called me more often, he would have realized that. Regardless of the phone issue, his email responses were not at all prompt. He actually didn't even answer several of my questions. The navigation DVD- the original one worked PERFECTLY before I dropped the car off. Weather Helms wants to admit it or not, they damaged it then tried to get me to purchase another for $200. I was only offered a new, complimentary DVD after I contact corporate. At no point during the above mentioned issues did the service manager ever contact me OR respond to the voice messages I left him. Vacuum---My car was NOT dusty. it straight up just wasnt vacuumed. One of the service workers even said to me he didn't do it because he was told I was in a rush. I told him, yes I was in a rush, but id still like the vacuum to be done, since it is standard. So he sighed, but went off to do it. Again, the service manager never came out to address or apologize to me. The fact that someone OTHER than the service manager even responded to my review shows how Helms Bros does business, which I find to be subpar. SInce all is said and done, i dont care to speak with the manager. I also will not ever take my Benz back there in the future. And just to reiterate...Andy Lin was great. Dealership itself is not bad. Reception and support staff are all good. They have lot of space so pretty much most of the models you can see on display. I would definitely recommend that dealership if you are not yet sure which Mercedes you want. They probably have the most cars on display out of all the dealerships I have visited. So, why have I given them one star then. That is specific to my sales experience with them. I put a deposit on a vehicle with them. The vehicle was not yet released, they did not even know the price of the vehicle because it was a brand new vehicle. I was assured that the deposit was fully refundable. And that it was illegal for dealerships in NY to keep customers deposit who do not take delivery. When they finally got the vehicle, they refused to give me my asking price. That is understandable and definitely not the reason why I gave them one star. I did my homework and visited other dealerships and got a great deal. I ended up buying the same car from another dealer at the price I wanted. But then when I asked them to refund me my deposit they said, it is already processed, it will take 7-10 business days. Now, it's been over five weeks and I still don't see the refund in my account. The salesman no longer replies to my texts or calls. Good thing, it was on a credit card and I have disputed this transaction with the bank now. So, I would say stay away from buying from them. It is a good place to visit though. Secondly, the salesman wasn't bad. He was good, really motivated, I liked him. His manager, who actually has to approve the deal had some issues. When I took a competitive offer to them - which by the way - they verified - the sales manager refused to even make a counter offer. Very bad experience. I ended up buying from Silver Star Motors. The service department was repeatedly unable to diagnose a problem with my car despite multiple visits. Another dealership diagnosed the problem in one day by test driving the car and putting it on a lift. Helms responded by blaming me for there failure to fix the car because I would not test drive the car with service due to covid concerns.
