I was coming down I-15 on a family vacation when my Suburban lost oil pressure. I sat on the the side of an off ramp for 30 minutes calling repair shops. I got the same answer from each of them, that they were scheduled out a week. I was starting to despair a bit when Tim pulled over in front of us and a quick diagnosis and then had us follow him to Advanced Automotive. There, the receptionist arranged a hotel, bumped someone previously scheduled (I hope they were understanding. We were grateful.), and personally drove us to the hotel. The vehicle was ready by lunchtime the next day. If I had to spend a day sitting at a hotel with unexpected car trouble, Advanced Automotive made it as pleasant and fast as possible. During my wait, I had an opportunity to chat with Tim and other employees. Every mechanic has all possible certifications. They are as honest as can possibly be, relentlessly friendly and cheerful. I wish I could give more stars. My husband and I were driving from the Bay Area to Portland when a connecting rod in our engine blew a fist sized hole in the oil pan stopping the car dead in the water. We got towed to Advanced Automotive and once we explained the nature of our trip and how were essentially stranded, they squeezed our vehicle in for a diagnostic even though they had a full garage of vehicles. The owner of the shop even spent some time to source a local used motor at a good price. When we decided that was not the route we were going down, they helped us find multiple options for transport/shipping the vehicle. Ultimately they were able to recommend a good auto recycler in the area that was able to offer more than the two other ones we called. Through and through the owner and staff here were kind and helpful and accommodating and if we lived in the Redding area, they would have customers for life. This shop is amazing! I am from out of town and had a friend who's Mitsubishi would not start and was afraid she would get taken advantage of so she didn't know who to take her car to. I looked up auto repair shops in Redding and Advanced Automotive had the best reviews so I called them. Kayla, I hope I am spelling that right, answered and was very professional and made me feel confident in having my friend take the car there. AAA came out and was able to get the car started so she drove in. She said she was very impressed with the cleanliness of the shop and felt really good about leaving the car with them. What we thought was possibly an alternator and bad battery turned out to be bad battery cables. It is nice to find a shop as honest and friendly as Advanced Automotive. We purchased a packet of oil changes from some students going door to door. They compare the service to juffy lube or other quick oil change places and show that it costs less money and helps students pay for college. What they dont' tell you is that it is virtually a drop off service, and you'll get the car back sometime that day. No quick oil change here. And their courtesy vehicle was some beat up old jalopy without A/C. The job was done right the first time without any problems, but it was far short of my expectations. read more

I just took a job transfer to redding, Typical murphy's law, my jeep blew a head gasket. They got it right in to verify the problem. Sadly the best course of action (new engine) made it not worth it, because the repairs would be worth more than the car even after it was fixed. So, I opted to have it junked, and the junk yard won't be able to pick it up until next week, they have had no problem letting the jeep stay in their lot until they can pick it up. The honesty and integrity of this shop is amazing, needless to say, I know what shop has my business now! read more

I recently used Advanced Automotive for some mechanical repair. After being told by the local dealership of an expensive repair, I decided to try them out. The repair facility and office was clean and organized. After inspection, I found that the expensive repair by the dealership was in fact s leaking valve cover at a third of the cost. I know this might not happen every time, but I know Tim has now a new customer. read more

I have been using Advanced Automotive for many years and watched it go from father to son. The work ethics and integrity has been passed down and is top notch. With them a handshake is as binding as any contract. They hire only the best and expect the best from their employees. I have sent friends there over the years and they won't go to anyone else now.It takes a decent salary to hire the best mechanics in town. Tim and Cody are great. Great mechanics, very knowledgeable and extremely ethical. If something can go without replacing they will let you know. If they say it needs fixing then it DOES need fixing and there is no one who does a better job. Often after a long days work they go right to an auto repair seminar in the evening, my guess is they probably teach it. One time they fixed our car for much less than the estimate, because they said repairs went so fast it exceeded their time estimate...That's how honest and hardworking they are.
