8/8/22 11:46 - Advanced Auto and Truck Repair in Palatine. The complainant has filEd several Better Business Bureau (BBB) reports/ and current investigation report of harassment from 7/30/22 about ongoing Public Safety witness reports and nmerous violation against the Village of Palatine, that have continued to occur with this business. The homeowners have tried to solve the collaboratively, face to face with no resolution. This is an ongoing 15-year conflict and unresolved complaint from a customers who used their professional services and residential homeowners who reside directly behind their business. it describes Public Safety Violation, unlawful speeding, countless police reports and harassment, in addition to unsafe business practices from the employees and owners who manage this business. I am a dual Licensed Professional Mental Health Trauma Therapist who utilized the company for a car repair front panel door was drilled and screws were a fixed to the leather upholstery damaging it. Took a loss on the sale of the car because if it. Very rude and disrespectful to staff if you are a women who stands up for herself. My elderly father in his 99's brought his car in for a estimate for new brake and was overcharged, upon second estimate with another mechanic down the street Ernie's Auto and T-2 Auto Repair quoted $250 for the same work. This business uses Colfax in Palatine as a speedway strip daily and harasses the housing development that lives directly behind them by revving engines outside business just to antagonize the tenants living in their backyard. The business continues unsafe practices as we live in a high commuter/pedestrian location. Some tenants are going to the media if the unsafe practices do not terminate. Someone is going to get seriously injured and Colfax is rarely monitored by police enforcement unless calls are reported about the speeding. This often occurs during lunch time, and in the morning. Very rude and disrespectful staff if you are a women. They use Colfax as a speedway and harass the housing development that lives directly behind them by revving engines and burning out in their parking lot, outside their business just to antagonize the tenants living directly behind them. Many of which run businesses in their homes. There are no words as most of us own businesses outside of our residences and despite constant police reports and Better Business Bureau reports of harassment and public safety reports from the local police department, continue to violate city ordinance. We are in the process of filing these concerns with the Cook County Commissioners Office and Palatine Village Councilman for further review. The speeding and safety violations are putting Metra commuters at risk and other pedestrians who use Colfax for their business. Okay Despite trying to resolve these conflicts face to face with the company they continue to be disrespectful, against any amicable resolution of the conflict. My most recent experience with Advanced Auto demonstrates why I keep coming back. I needed to have the muffler replaced on my 15yr old SUV. At the same time, it was about ready for an oil change. When I dropped it off, I asked them to take a look around and see if there was anything else that I should deal with while it was in their care. I got a call once they had it in the shop. The muffler setup on my make/model SUV is kind of unique and requires a bit more pipe than the usual. They called to make sure I was aware of that. In addition, during the once over, they found that the front brakes were worn to about 20%. That probably explained why I was standing on the brakes a lot more than I remember. But, didn't we just replace the brakes a couple years ago. They looked it up and sure enough, we did, but rears only. This was the front. They also noticed that I could use new front bearings. Getting that done at the same time as the brakes saves a bit of labor since the whole thing is taken apart anyway. There were a couple other issues that we talked about that weren't required to repair for safety or performance, so we let those slide. They were able to knock out the muffler, brakes, bearings and oil change in a day. In addition, they had the history of repairs right at their fingertips, and they were making decisions based on what was necessary to the safe and proper running of the SUV, rather than what was going to line their pockets. I had a bit of an emergency (no brakes) with our '95 Honda and could not get a hold of our regular mechanic of nearly 20 years. After reading some online reviews I gave Advanced a call and spoke with Rod (one of the owners). He sounded knowledgeable and wasn't in a hurry to rush me off the phone and into the shop. He gave me a general idea of possible remedies and costs as well as a general time frame for the type of work. I brought our car in and Rod showed me the exact brake line issue and discussed solving the problem with the mechanic and I on the spot. The timing and cost estimates given at that time were nearly spot on. The service was immediate and there was no 'up sell' or pressure for additional work. I spent some time in the waiting room and watched the interaction with customers (several were obviously repeat [possibly long-term - always a good sign]) and there was no sense of dishonesty, superiority, or pressure. Maybe honesty and hard work can really lead to a successful business. This is only one experience, but it was a very positive one and we will hopefully have more as we will definitely take our business there again. read more

I recently had a check engine light come on my car and took it (stupidly) to the dealership and they quoted me $5000 to fix the problem (said i needed to replace 2 catalytic converters). Knowing that dealerships are notorious for over quoting I asked for referrals to an honest trustworthy shop and was told by numerous people ..... Advanced Automotive Repair. I went and saw Dave & Jim who were patient and honest. They were able to fix my problem for $150!! They could have played the game and told me that I needed to replace them as well (even if I did it would have been less than 60% if the cost at dealership) but they didn't - they found a solution and saved me a tone of money. I've had several positive experiences with Advanced Auto in Palatine. They've worked on both of my cars, domestic and import. I took an aging 2001 Neon to them and asked them what needed to be fixed immediately to keep it running and what repairs could wait for at least 6 months. They ended up quoting me for about $800 in immediate repairs, and another $400 worth of work could wait. Another shop told me that everything had to be done immediately and that it would be $1600 to get everything fixed. I trust these guys and they've earned my repeat business. They are aware that I am not a local customer, and Dave has gone out of his way to make sure I had a loaner car to drive while mine was in the shop. Rod and Jim are 2 fantastic Individuals managing this Business. I moved to Palatine 4 years back and I discovered them 2 years back and have been going back to them. They are honest, give you the best prices and tell you the right things that need to be fixed without all the unnecessary extras that other auto shops ask you to repair and charge you to make more money. Every single time I have gone to them, they have treated me with respect and told me what is right thing to do. They are also a lot of fun to talk to and have a lot of stories to tell from their lives. Rod has given me ride home and picked me the times I have had my car in their repair shop. My daughter dropped a Honda Accord ( 9321532 IL plate ) after a breakdown near by this auto shop. They charged her almost 13 hundred for an axle ( double than average charge ). Since then, the car has a lick...red oil...guess WHY ?! A butcher job...over-over-charged. Two auto mechanics from two auto shops ( and a retired one who checked the lick ) changed the seal, because they assumed was the seal ( IF you do a sloppy job, when you install the axle, you break the seal ), but the damage is inside ( ball joint ? )...NOW either I sell/trade the car with loosing money, or pay again for a PROFESSIONAL job ! I LOVE Advanced Auto! I have been taking my car in for servicing for the past 5 years. I have had an excellent experience with them. I feel they are honest when it comes to telling you the truth about what needs to be done for your vehicle. They offer a loaner car when available, free of charge. The owners and staff are very kind and funny. Anytime there has been an issue with my car, they always show me exactly where the issue is and why it needs to be repaired. I appreciate that since I am not very knowledge when it comes to car maintenance. A co worker recommended them to me and I highly recommend them to everyone else. This place was a recommendation by a friend several years ago. Since then this has been my "go to" place for all my cars, and I've had a lot the last several years. Jim helped me several times and was genuinely concerned about what was going on with the car every time i stopped in. The shop is busy but they got the job done right the first time, every time with the exception of a bad case of spark plugs they got from the manufacturer. A couple of times Rod even dropped me off and picked me up, I'm sure it helped that i work and live in Palatine though. They definitely earned the 5 stars they are getting from me!!! i have taken my car, trucks and they have helped me with trailers and a boat from time to time. My family have developed a strong realtionship with Rod and Jim. They make you feel as family. I now live 40 miles away and still drive to see them to do work on my cars. Dave up front is always so positive with me as a customer. Honesty with me as a customer has been the greatest asset. Late one afternoon my brakes staring making a bad noise. I yelp a car repair place in Palatine and this place came up with good reviews. And yelp sure was spot on. They got me in right away and took care of my problem. Then over the weekend I had a enigine light come on. I was impressed by how seriously the manager consider the customers' satisfaction and rating. The car was in for A/C work but they also found some work needs to be done to the front strut. This helped avoid potential car breakdown out on the street. A/C did not work after one month and I took the car back. They did further checking and repaired the seal.
