These guys are class acts and true professionals. My dad used to be a mechanic and has taught me some skills. I had a roaring noise that at some point had caused a backfire. I took it to one mechanic who couldn't figure it out. Both my dad and I had investigated the problem and couldn't figure it out, though our initial thought, reinforced by the guy who checked me in, was a timing belt. These guys could have probably taken me for a ride pretty easily with this issue...but instead, they noticed the guys at the dealership who do my oil changes had left off three of the screws holding down my air breather...$50 later something that was causing me major driving problems was solved. They also changed my oil and transmission fluid at a very reasonable price. These guys have my business and not only will I be back for all my car service needs (once my dealer oil changes are used up), but I've recommended them to numerous friends. read more

Excellent and honest service! After searching around to get my timing belt replaced and numerous calls for quotes I am extremely happy with my choice to come here. Highly recommend and will be back for all future auto repair needs. Thank you for taking such great care of my car! read more

I've been going to these guys for years. Never once have they tried to sell me something I didn't need. Brought my car to a dealership, then to advanced auto repair for a second opinion; ended up saving me hundreds of dollars for repairs I didn't really need! They'll go out of their way to save you money. Example: I was driving home today with a almost flat tire from the cold weather; the guys at advanced automotive repair not only filled all my tires with air but did a quick check to see if there was a leak in the lowest one and didn't charge me a dime for their time. They're good, honest men who know their cars and know how to save you money! I'll never trust my car with anyone else! -Alan read more

I have brought in my car a couple of times, and havee always been pleased. I want to give a big thank you this time. They are very reputable, I brought my car in, and the price wasn't worth the vehicle. When my husband picked it up, there was not a charge, stating, since we needed to buy another vehicle, we didn't need the extra expense. I greatly appreciate the kindness, and since I had to purchase a new vehicle, I will bring it in to Advanced anytime. read more

Have been looking for a good mechanic shop around the area and I think I have finally found it. Great customer service. Prompt work. Reasonable prices and they aren't pushy instead extremely friendly and helpful and give good advice too read more

Advanced Auto once again did an excellent job on one of my cars. They went the extra mile to find the correct rear wiper blade that I could not find. They did what I requested, and when they found an additional problem, explained it to me and recommended a fix, which made sense to me given the age of the car. I trust these guys. read more

Very knowledgable and well equipped shop. Ive never had a problem with the quality of their work.

I have been going to Advanced Auto for 20+ years. Rod and Jim are top notch. They are honest, provide excellent service at a fair price, and just decent businessmen.I wouldn't trust my car with anyone else. I've had everything from oil changes to extensive engine work done by them...I cannot speak highly enough about them. read more

This place is what service needs to be in this country. My dad dropped off his car and he didn't have a ride home. So, he's sitting there's just waiting and one of the people there, Dave, asked him if he had a ride. My dad said, "no, im just going to wait." Dave goes, "you don't need to do that I'll get you a loaner car." The loaner car they had did not start. Dave goes, "you know what, take my personal car." Can you believe it?! So, he gave him the keys to his own car and he drove back home. So, about two and and a half hours later the all wheel brake job was done and he drove Dave's car back to the shop. Brakes are excellent by the way!! read more

I thought I had an exhaust rattling problem. They discovered it was not and it was in fact my sway bar links. They quoted me a competitive price for the part. Labor was a bit more than I'm used to, but not by much at all. Definitely worth it. They did it all in about 5 hours. The clunking noises went away. The tire rotation was also very affordable which was also suggested to me. Nice place too. I will definitely return for certain repairs. read more

So grateful for Advanced Auto - we trust them, and have for years. They do great work and are honest and helpful!

Trust these guys! We bring all of our cars here. They are honest and they don't rip you off!

So I did return. Pontiac Aztek, 2003. Low miles but the kid-mover so important. A bunch of work, done quickly, explained nicely, and came in under quote. Added an oil change for under 9 bucks, kept it overnight when I couldn't pick it up, and had all parts there too. Happy. Looks like I've found "a guy". read more

Dave and Jim are great guys. They've really taken care of our cars for several years now and we're very comfortable with using their services in the future. read more

Like previous reviewers, I have no idea when it comes to car repairs. Ended up having a leak in my radiator, and after a frustrating night trying to make it home I went online to find someone that I could take my car in the morning. After reading all the positive things to say, I figured I'd give them a shot. I myself also feel like I'm always getting taking for a ride when my car is in the shop so it's never fun when I have to bring my car in. And with the shop down the street from our house with 2 stars, I figured giving them a shot was my best bet. They got me in right away, and were nothing but honest. I was told the things that needed to be fixed to get my car back to running safe, and some suggestions on future fixes once it was within my budget. The pricing is very fair, and I didn't feel like like I was getting worked over. I got a synthetic oil change for a little over $50, when the big brand stores are $20 more. Dave behind the desk will make you want to come back. Great people, that do great work. I hope that I don't need any repairs in the near future, but if I do I'll definately be taking my car back there. If you give them a heads up they even have a loaner car for you to take to eliminate the hassel of being without your car for the day. read more

Excellent service, top notch mechanics, plus a very convenient location. Highly recommended

Great to have a honest and people who car about the service of your car , I highly recommend them and there work. Again, Thanks guys. read more

I brought my 2003 Toyota Solara with 160,000 miles in to the shop with a rattle coming from the left rear. After the tech looked, they found numerous issues. Although you hate to hear that it is more extensive than you thought, I knew with that many miles on her that it was time for some major work. They fixed her and the car rides so smooth, I had become so used to the rough ride that I forgot what a great little car I had. I would recommend Advanced Automotive, you can always tell how good a shop is by how busy they are and although you may have to wait a few days for a booking, it is well worth it. read more

First tried them out with my son's Rabbit that needed new rear brakes; took the parts to them based on reviews and their quoted price (less than half the dealership price.) So impressed took them my wife's 2004 Jag sedan (gulp) which had lost AC/heat. Well, didn't really expect it to be just a fuse and needed new blower, but the part price they quoted was lower than I could find on the internet. They also did a great job on her front brakes (again less than half dealer quote) and told me I DIDN'T NEED steering fluid changed as I had suggested. They also installed some bulbs for nothing and new air filter for nothing. Also did their utmost to do all this while I waited with another appointment on deck--and succeeded! Assuming I get another 10 years out of the new blower, can state best service people I have dealt with in automotive realm over a 40 year period! read more

I brought my car here on the recommendation of a friend. I've been going back for several years since for pretty much all repairs and maintenance and will continue to recommend Advanced Automotive to others. My son had a car problem when he was out of state at school and took it to a local service provider. They told him several repairs were needed and quoted him what I assume were inflated prices. Before getting the work done, I called AA and ran the work items past them for feedback. They told me what he should get done immediately, what was overly priced, and what could wait until he brought the car home. Easily saved us hundreds of dollars. They have fair prices, are honest and do quality work as quickly as possible. Not sure what more you can ask for from a service provider like this. read more

they do a good job on repairs, very transparent. one time they kept the car warm in the cold winter night so that I could get my ice off the windshield easily. Nice extra touch when I had to pick up the car after hours. read more

Spring Break 2017 - we're 1,000 miles from home - and our pet sitter calls to tell me my garage smells like gasoline. I keep a 70's era car in there that has a quick fill fuel tank. There's always a fuel odor. An hour latter the pet sitter's Mom calls - there's gasoline all over the floor of my garage! Now my wife is freaking out - wants to change our tickets home NOW. I'm thinking -should I call the Fire Department or what??? I settle on calling Jim at Advanced Automotive. Rod jumps in their flat hauler, goes over to my house, moves my other 2 cars out of the way, and winches my baby onto the trailer. But wait - there's more - he spreads soak-it-up all over the floor, moves some gasoline saturated wood out, then sweeps all the soak-it-up stuff up, bags it and takes it with him! Oh - and then moves both cars back into the garage. Two days later he's waiting outside the shop at almost 9:00 on Saturday night to hand off the keys (our flight was delayed). Great work, very fair prices and honest guys. read more

Thanks again! I brought in my new (used) car to have some work done that I knew about, as well as have it looked over for any hidden damage. We just moved to the area this summer and started having some issues with our 2005 Expedition. Moving around a lot brings challenges in finding a good shop and I will totally admit that I've got some trust issues with mechanics. I found Advanced Auto on Yelp and somewhat trepidatiously made arrangements to get my car checked out. My rig was overdue for an oil change and some other typical maintenance and the check engine light had come on so clearly needed some attention. When I dropped it off I explained that I for sure wanted the oil change and diagnosis on the check engine light but to call me before doing anything else. Dave called later that day to explain that the issues my rig was experiencing might have been tied to the overdue oil change and that before doing any other work on it he wanted me to drive it for a bit and see if that did the trick. Sure enough it had!! We had a good chat about what other maintenance I really needed and advice was to just get it done the next time I came in for an oil change. I came away with a feeling that these guys have my best interests in mind as the customer, they are honest, and not trying to rope me into work I don't need or want. i will be back and absolutely recommending them to friends and coworkers. Will be my only go to shop as long as we are in the area! Great customer service, honesty, and professionalism are alive and well at Advanced Auto!! Thanks guys!! read more

The best! They have awesome Technicians that don't waste your time. I was going to be charged $2000 for a timing belt / water pump service for my Acura. Saved me $1200! Thanks Dave!!!! Brent is the mechanic I always request when I go in. read more

I dropped my car off late Monday after given them a list of things over phone of things that needed to be fixed on my car. They looked at the car and called me back with some suggestion of thing I could do that would be in my price range and things that needed to be done asap. I got a few things done right away and my car was finished first thing the next morning. I am very happy with what they have done and I will be taking it back there for more work on my car soon. read more

I've had my 3 vehicles serviced at Advance since 2010. They do quality work at a fair price. They've been very helpful in evaluating when maintenance needs to be done. Also they've assisted me with warranty questions. Good place. read more

The entire team here does great work. Only repair shop I trust.

We brought a car here to have it checked out before buying it. Everyone was very courteous and helpful as I checked in. They were very patient as I had my 2 small children with me and the driver who was bringing the car over from the dealer was running late. They started looking at the car as soon as it arrived and let me know immediately that it was not something we would want to purchase for our family. Jim even spoke to my husband on the phone so he could hear first hand the problems with it. Would recommend them to anyone! read more

These guys are the best car guys in the NW suburbs. I've tried about 6 different shops, and Dave and the crew are tops. They're knowledgeable and they consistently have the lowest quotes on any job. The name of the game is finding inexpensive quality parts and they seem to have it figured out. They're trustworthy and it's hard to find that in mechanics sometimes. Give them a shot and you won't be disappointed. I moved to Chicago and still drive out here sometimes because they're that good. read more

I highly reccomend Advanced Automotive. These guys are the real deal. I have complete trust in their services and in their ability to diagnose and fix the problems with my car. I dropped off my car at 8 am when they opened and because I don't live within walking distance - the owner, Rod, gave me a ride back to my place. When it was done, he picked me up and my car is great. They are very courteous, professional and customer friendly. My cars will always be taken there. Much thanks to Advanced for job well done!! read more

Dave, Rod & Jimmy are class acts. Rod and his flatbed tow truck bailed me out when my wife's Highlander burst an oil hose. They've also worked on my classic Lincoln Town Car- new copper alloy (wont rust) brake lines, sway bar end links, greasable lower ball joints. Dave explains everything thoroughly over the phone and the work gets done same day every time I've gone there. The prices are reasonable given the high quality parts and labor. I highly recommend Advanced!! read more

I wish I could've experienced all the great service everyone is bragging about or maybe they are selective about who they give great service to. Yes everyone Kn the office smiles and are friendly but when I took my car in I had a different experience. I took my car in about 8 in the morning and they literally kept my car until they were about to close. I didn't get a loaner and I had to call and check on my car so I went all day without a car. I could see if I was a walk in but I booked my appointment at least a week in advance. These guys are so nice so being a native I trusted them. My A/C was not blowing out cold air they claimed they fixed but I may experience small leaks which will cause me to bring in my vehicle again to fix the same problem twice and I have pay for it. It through me off but I didn't say anything because I assumed I wouldn't have the same problem 3 weeks later. I assumed I brought my car in to get fixed meaning I wouldn't have to experience the same problem again. If my A/C isn't working replace it do whatever you have to do is that not normal?! I don't have time to bring my car in the shop every month. Is this how they keep their business by doing lazy jobs? I don't know if it was because I'm a young woman. It's a shame if that determine my service. My car was "fixed" June 1st and June 30th my A/C is not blowing cold air anymore. What was done exactly? Why wasn't this problem fixed? Now I have to take time off, get an Uber home and back, and come out of pocket for the same problem! read more

I decided to bring my car here for a brake inspection/repair based on the great reviews I read. I am SO glad I did. From the start Jim was so helpful in setting up an appointment. He was able to get me in within 2 days, and worked with me on an appointment time. I had to drop the car off earlier in the day than expected, and as a result wasn't going to have a ride back to work. Jim set me up with a loaner car, and I was good to go. It couldn't have been simpler. The most important part to me, was that throughout the whole process (from dropping my car off, to having the repairs/costs explained to me, to picking it back up and paying), Jim explained everything to me in a way that a person with no car knowledge (cough me cough) could understand. I trusted what he told me, and as a result will continue to give them my business for all of my car needs. read more

I brought my 1970 GTO Judge in for a good, old fashioned tune-up and alignment. I can honestly say that the car has never run so well!
