    Chicken Salad with fixings

This place is a hidden gem. This restaurant is family owned and awesome people. The food is sandwiches, soup, salads, pasta, chips and great desserts. The sandwiches are made to your liking with the bread if your choice. Soups are always a hit and for most you can't pass up their desserts.

From the second you walk in, it feels different. Everyone is smiling, not the "corporate training video" smile, but the genuine, we-like-being-here kind. It's contagious. You leave feeling lighter, and not just because of the food. And the food? The Countryside Bowl has become a non-negotiable in my life. If I skip a week, I start thinking about it like an old friend I haven't checked in on. Everything tastes fresh, clean, intentional. It's the rare kind of meal that's deeply satisfying but doesn't leave you needing a nap and a life reset afterward. You know that feeling when you finish eating and think, "That was good for me"? That's this place. Every time. If you're looking for food that tastes amazing, makes you feel amazing, and is served by people who actually seem happy you're there, go. Just go. And get the Countryside Bowl. Trust me.

My tastes run towards more indulgent food when we eat out but I think most people will find something to enjoy here even if the menu is limited. Some of the people in our group thought some of their dishes were a little bland, but I liked everything I tried. We had the okra and fried pickles for appetizers. The pickles have a very crunchy breading and a dip that was delicious! The okra is very good - especially with the dip for the pickles. We also tried the biscuits with butter and peach compote. They were great! Unique, fluffy, flavorful, and definitely worth a side order. I ordered the chicken and waffles with the peach. It was a good dish. The chicken tenders had a little bit of a spice that I didn't totally love, but they were still good. I also tried my friend's shrimp and grits, and they were delicious. The person next to me got meatloaf and brussels sprouts sprouts and really enjoyed it! He was practically licking the plate! Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks as well. The only one I tried was the espresso martini, and it was very tasty! I would definitely go back to Tupelo Honey the next time I'm in Lenexa.

But when I pay the kind of prices they charge at Silo, I need to be wowed and I just haven't been the two times we've dined here--hence, only 4 stars. We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

Ordering was super simple online and the food was ready exactly on time with zero hiccups. They even helped me load it to my car in the freezing cold, and scrounged up a couple of birthday candles for me which I had forgotten to buy for the party! The food itself was delicious. The quantities are huge, so excellent value. And the presentation was Instagram-worthy. Can't wait to come in for brunch, as the shop itself is adorable and full of treasures in the retail racks. This is my new go-to place for party platters. Thank you, The Table crew!
