Here are a few reasons why she is the best: she is always punctual; she makes you very comfortable; she brings absolutely everything (and uses the highest quality products); she listens to your request and then delivers beautiful results; and she gets along with anyone in the room. Not so sure how legit some of these reviews are...but here's my side of the coin: I emailed Adriana on October 30th as an inquiry to her services. I didn't hear back from her until late January, at which time she had sent a BCCed email to what may have been numerous people rambling on and on about some sob story of hiring an intern who was not capable of checking spam mail. Not that I care why you aren't competent enough to check email, but I felt her offer of a "free trial" was compelling enough to give her a second chance. After swapping a few messages back and forth (during which time Adriana told me she was only available for trials on Tuesdays and Sundays), we decided upon a date of Sunday the 19th at 10:00 AM. I confirmed and provided my address. Once the day of my trial arrived I anxiously awaited Adriana's arrival; unfortunately, she never showed. After about 10 minutes of waiting, still hoping that maybe she was on her way, I sent a simple email asking if she had been running behind and if she could provide an ETA. NO RESPONSE. After waiting 30 minutes, I called and left a voicemail. NO RESPONSE. Still to today, I've never heard from Adriana. Genuinely, I expected a "OH MY GOSH! I am so sorry, something came up....I completely forgot...my calendar crashed." Some sort of excuse or something. Instead it was simple no call, no show for a potential client. To me, this is the most disgusting and disrespectful act of any "business woman." It really makes me think that the majority of reviews here (look at the filtered ones and always be leery of those "all 5 stars" from Yelpers with no picture and minimal reviews!) are fabricated or done by friends or acquaintances. It truly is a shame, as I sincerely was willing to give her my business had she just shown up and performed a job well done. Who knows, maybe in another three months I'll receive another mass BCCed email about this 'intern' who forgot to put the appointment on her calendar and an offer for a free trial??? UPDATE 2/24/11: I received an email from Adriana the day after I wrote my original review, with a long story about illness and offering to still do the trial for free. In my mind, I was done and no longer interested in employing Adriana's service with a resonating feeling that if something would happen on one of the biggest days of my life, she may not show--so naturally I did not respond to her email. I do not think after the interactions we've had, that feeling is out of line. However, after not responding, two days later I get another email from Adriana after she read my Yelp review. In a nutshell, she wasn't happy and asked me to remove my review as it didn't reflect any services she provided. To the contrary, I think it's incredibly relative to anyone who may be CONSIDERING her services. I politely declined, told her I would not be removing the review all together, and furthermore wished her all the best with both her personal health and business moving forward. The emails didn't stop there though, I received a near immediate response begging me to remove the review as it would impact her family financially. Her last line of the email stated she would stop bothering me, but hoped I would reconsider (IE, requiring no response). At this point, I'd intended to come back whenever I had a moment to adjust the review (again, exactly what you see above) to reflect the most recent developments, that indeed, she did eventually follow back up. Less than 24 hours later, not even giving me time to update the review, the response from Adriana is posted below. I mean, seriously? I'm starting to get the feeling the crazy train is powering full steam ahead here. Perhaps she didn't realize posting a reply like that is completely public for everyone to scrutinize? I'm not sure, but either way it doesn't exactly paint her business and the response in the best light. There are a million better ways she could have handled this situation, this would way would definitely not rank in the top 10, or even top 20. Yelpers alike can agree that good, bad, ugly...every interaction with a business can be posted to Yelp. That's the true beauty behind the site; it helps consumers make educated spending decisions based on others experiences. While others had a great experience, I wasn't so fortunate and it's all accurately accounted for here--no 'purposeful sabotage.' Make your own judgment call! read more

Remember slumber parties when you were younger? Among all the pizza-eating and creating routines to the latest Madonna hit, my BFF and I almost always included "makeovers" in our list of sleepover must-dos. We'd gather all our Wet n' Wild and Bonne Bell, then do each other's faces to perfection. With our blue eyeshadow and pink frosted lips we were all prepared should Michael J. Fox's car happen to break down in front of her house, and he rang the doorbell asking to use the phone. Remember, this was before cell phones so the above scenario was TOTALLY plausible. Anyway, now that I'm a grown up I don't rock the Wet n' Wild anymore, but I'm still a sucker for a good makeup application. So when I heard about Adriana's "Shop With Me" service, I nearly squealed with pre-pubescent glee. Basically, she comes to your house, takes stock of all your makeup, and then makes product recommendations. The next step is to go shopping (we hit Ulta, Blue Mercury, and Barney's...but she takes any budget into account) and finally, a makeup lesson with your new and old stuff back and your place. It was a hands-on lesson, with Adriana doing one half of my face, and me doing the other half. She showed me some great new tricks, and I loved the look. Now, don't you hate it when you go to Sephora and they do this amazing job but then there's NO WAY you can recreate it at home? That's not the case with Adriana. She wrote EVERYTHING down, and it's been very easy for me to replicate her handiwork! I highly recommend her services! Adriana did my make-up for my April 7th wedding. I tried Adriana after several unsuccessful make-up trials. She offered a free consultation after not responding to my original email. I thought she did a nice job at my trial. My skin was suffering from breakouts and she made me look flawless. I had some concerns about my wedding day because my bridal party is multicultural (Black, Asian, Puerto Rican) and most of the people I saw on makeup wedding websites were Caucasian. I provided my own foundation to avoid having foundation that did not match but Adriana did the rest. She did makeup for two of my bridesmaids and my mother-in-law. Everyone looked beautiful. Ok Audriana is the the best! No need to fluff it up!!! I used Audiana for my wedding day and let me just say I looked flawless and her work was perfection. She can transform a face into the most eloquent work of art! I have had my make-up done for many different events and occasions and I am very very lucky that I had found her before my BIG day and most photographed day! Every other makeup artest has done a GOOD job some better then others and I have gone to boutique salons, M.A.C. and to other individual make-up artist and NO one has matched her abilty thus far! My ferocious insecurities about my looks led me to scour the web for 'makeover gurus' etc, and I came upon Adriana's bridal site online, which advertised the 'Shop With Me' service. I figured if she was "good enough" to work on the beauties on America's Next Top Model, she'd be "good enough" for me! :) I'm a very picky consumer by nature and I'd like to give my honest opinion that I have never been handled so well by a personal shopper, let alone a make-up artist. She came to my apartment and we went through my sad makeup "collection," (things bought from watching zillions of YouTube tutorial videos that never quite worked with my complexion - African-American/Puerto Rican). I showed her some images of looks I liked (Kourtney Kardashian, Nadia Bjorlin, Nazanin Boniadi) and explained to her the different aspects of particular looks I was going for. For about 20 minutes we talked and she mapped out a shopping list/plan based on looks I wanted, products I already had and products I needed to buy. She paid so much attention to what I was looking for in improving my look that I really felt understood - something that definitely helped my confidence and put me at ease throughout the entire process. We drove 'round downtown Chicago and she took me to her secret shopping spots (!!!) and we ended up with exactly what I needed to get the looks I was going for. Then back home for a REAL tutorial! Foundation, eyes, brows, lippys, bronzer, blush, skin care, brushes, etc: the works. She did one side of my face while I watched her in the mirror, and after each step I would copy the same actions on the other side of my face. (The student inside me was wise enough to write down step-by-step directions for later :)) The timing was planned so well that weaccomplished three looks for me: one, daytime eye for work and class, second, nighttime eye for going out. I had built up so much confidence towards the end of the session that for the third look I requested, "a f*** me eye". She raised her eyebrows and laughed, then smiled, picked up a brush, aimed it at my eyelids, and said "Okay, Let's do this!" Let me tell you something, you have not had a sexy smokey eye until you have had a sexy smokey eye done by Adriana Aude. SUCH a great attitude and really made me feel comfortable! I had so much fun and not to toot my own horn but I definitely looked H-O-T when she was finished with me! I feel like I could have gone straight to a high fashion photo shoot or something... which is exactly how we all want to look every day, right! Either way, I look like a dang supermodel! Adriana did my makeup for my wedding, and she did an absolutely fabulous job! As the other reviewers have said, she is truly the best. I have never felt more beautiful! The makeup looked stunning, photographed just as well, and lasted all night. When she was done with my makeup and showed it to me for the first time I almost cried it right off I was so happy! Adriana was a dream come true for our wedding day! She was thoughtful in my makeup and the women in my bridal party's makeup. She didn't just make everyone's makeup look the same and just slap on makeup. She thought of how to emphasize my 'natural beauty' showcasing my freckles and my darker skin color. I would like to take a moment to let readers knows that I hired Adriana to do my makeup and hair for my engagement photos. I'm thrilled to say that Adriana made me look flawless for my important day! She was highly-skilled, creative and professional. Instead of having to travel to a salon or studio, she graciously offered to come to my house. (This definitely saved me time and money) The total session took about two hours for both make up application and setting my hair style. Her products and brushes were great, and my makeup looked perfect in the photos. I would also like to mention that my appointment was early in the morning and happened to fall on her baby's first Father's Day. This alone showed me that she is really committed to her craft. I am completely thrilled with Adriana's "Shop With Me" service, and I would highly recommend her. I have a skin tone that has made it difficult for me to choose colors of eyeshadow, lip product, blush, etc. I have gone to several makeup artists in the past and left not looking any better. Adriana really listened to me about the look I was going for (business professional), and my concerns with colors. She has a natural talent for this and it really shows. Since I got home, I see myself in the mirror through the day and can't believe the difference. The colors work so much better for me, and her simple application tips make a huge difference. First, let me say that I have extremely high standards having worked with many industry professionals throughout the years for some big ad agency gigs (we even hired a commercial photographer for our wedding through one of my clients). The first time I met Adriana she was prompt, professional, friendly and incredibly talented, she did my wedding make-up back in September of 2009 and it was stunning and lasted all day and night (through a hot day and lots of dancing) and I still looked flawless. She also did my mother's make-up and we received countless compliments and were beyond thrilled with the results - we never looked better, she is truly an artist! I couldn't have been more pleased with her, so much so that when it was time for my younger brother to get married, as soon as we found out their date was set (October 2014), we emailed Adriana to reserve our date and once again, she delivered BIG TIME.
