She and the woman doing my hair both really listened to me about my vision for hair and makeup on the wedding day and after seeing the trial results I didn't even have any suggested changes, because they had so perfectly captured the look I was going for. On the wedding day, they were both so nice to me and all of the bridesmaids and even to the 9 year old flower girl getting her hair done. They arrived on time and got things going right away and they made the process fun because they are so nice so the conversation was flowing the whole time. Each of the bridesmaids ended up looking amazing and everyone was so happy with their final look. They also were able to get everyone done on time, allowing us to stick to the timeline, which was great. I got so many compliments on my makeup at each event. Maria is so nice to talk to, too, and is flexible and always willing to make any changes to meet what you like. We did a number of makeup trials and as long as I spoke up, Maria was great at adjusting the makeup to get my desired look. It is very important to her to make you feel great and she doesn't take any adjustments personally. She also went the extra mile before my wedding and brought me amazing skin care samples to use-- face scrubs & masks-- to help me really glow on the big day. On the wedding day, she was fantastic, as was her talented assistant. She was on time and she and her assistant got through the 5 person bridal party (4 bridesmaids, 1 bridesman who got male grooming with Maria, and 2 moms, and of course me, the bride), smoothly. Everyone was thrilled with their looks and so happy, and we all looked like movie stars! Her pricing is extremely reasonable, too, and good value for the work. Let's start with the good: Maria was very nice and accommodating…read more Unfortunately, I was disappointed and frankly shocked at how bad the makeup itself was. For eyes, the eyeliner lines were incredibly shaky (and not even a true black!!!), the requested blending was either nonexistent or very shoddily done (with streaks), and the lashes were noticeably plasticky with no mascara to mask the artificial texture. The blush technique and shapes were ALL wrong, concentrated all on the apples, and not in a good way, with almost no blending. The lip color was for one of the models was very unflattering! NO eyebrow definition. Also, I paid for some hairstyling, but she didn't even bring a curling iron. To be fair, we were rushed with one of the models, but one had PLENTY of time to be worked on and turned out like a clown due to the very poor attention to detail. Maybe I caught her on a bad day. The makeup I did on myself in literally 4 minutes was better than the end result. While I enjoyed her company, I STRONGLY advise you to stay away if you're looking for more avant-garde looks.

I had a contract with her to perform make-up and hair styling services for me and my wedding party. She was also supposed to do a run-through on me. She never did the run-through. She moved out of state and ignored and refused to return my many calls, e-mails and letters. I had to scramble to find another make-up and hair team at over the price Sonya charged. Sonya took my $200 deposit , left town, and has refused to return my deposit. I can understand if life events change such that a move is necessary before a contract can be fulfilled, HOWEVER, there is NO excuse to run off with a client's deposit and not return phone calls or e-mails. I feel sorry for Sonya because she must be doing very poorly to have to abscond with a client's $200 deposit rather than return it. But, with her flakey attitude and unprofessional behavoir, I can see why she would be doing poorly in the first place. IN SUM: BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE. You do NOT need the added stress of dealing with someone as flakey and unprofessional as Sonya Tisdel on your wedding day. I only hope my experience will save someone else some pain and heart ache. UPDATE: After filing a Better Business Bureau complaint, Sonya has finally agreed to return my deposit. It only took 10 months and multiple attempts to contact her, but I guess better late than never.

Joanna is one of a kind, extremely personable and a true professional in the industry. Our original wedding date was set for 8/15/20 and getting engaged less than a year before, I was in a rush to lock in my team of vendors. I reached out to a friend who sent me multiple MUA suggestions, one being Joanna, as my friend was a bridesmaid in a recent wedding of hers. Joanna was available for my date and after chatting on the phone I quickly locked her in for myself plus 8 bridesmaids, my mom and future mother in law. We did my initial makeup trial in December 2020 and I was the bride that brought a few inspiration photos but didn't really give much direction to the look I was going for. Joanna was patient, confident and so skilled that she knew what look would complement my features/skin tone and went to work. She delivered A+ bridal glam while still having me look like my natural self, false lashes and all. She even updated my look right then after the trial by adding a red lip for my engagement shoot that afternoon, which was such a sweet and unexpected gesture. Fast forward to spring 2020, pandemic in full swing and a new wedding date of 6/26/21. Joanna stuck with me through all the many changes, didn't take advantage of the situation by adding contract addendum fees and even offered a Black Friday deal for rehearsal dinner glam for her brides. She stayed in touch, checked in and made me feel confident and excited for our new wedding date. Joanna also stayed on top of beauty and makeup trends while events were all cancelled or postponed during the spring. Her Instagram is my favorite as she shares honest opinions/reviews about both skin and makeup products. I also booked another make up session for round 2 engagement photos with Joanna that October and it's true talent when you can create multiple looks on the same person for different occasions. On the wedding day, Joanna brought an assistant with her (as planned) for our wedding day as we had 11 people total and her assistant was top of the line talent as well. My whole bridal party felt beautiful and our makeup lasted the entire night without even needing to touch up (although Joanna provides her brides with a generous touch up kit, just in case). It's also important to note that it was raining sideways and extremely humid, but looking at the bridal party, you'd never know judging by our long lasting glam. I highly recommend getting your makeup done for the rehearsal as well as I wish there was a recording of my reaction when Joanna showed me the "finished product" in the mirror. I was SO excited and after already having 2 trials, having one the day before the wedding made me confident that I would feel like my best self on the biggest day of my life and let me tell you, I did. I have never felt so beautiful in my entire life. I have also never seen my mom look so gorgeous and it made me happy that she was so happy! I call Joanna a wizard because she's casually chatting with you, so calm, focused and voila! hands you the mirror and it's truly a natural work of art.
