I used Pin Me Up for hair and makeup services on my wedding day (9/13/26), and overall, I had a very positive experience. Unfortunately, I can't recall the names of the two lovely artists who worked with us that day, but I personally was very happy with both my makeup and hair. They stayed very close to the inspiration images I shared, which was extremely important to me, and I felt confident and beautiful on such a special day. Our group had a mix of services, some bridesmaids booked makeup only, a couple booked hair only, and about three of us had both services done. To be completely honest, not everyone in the group loved their final look. A few of the girls weren't thrilled with their makeup, and a couple felt the same about their hair. That said, in the artists' defense, the bridesmaids didn't feel comfortable speaking up at the time, and instead made small adjustments themselves afterward. I don't believe this reflects a lack of skill, but rather the importance of clearly communicating preferences in the moment. Despite that, I would still recommend Pin Me Up. Their work is professional, polished, and their pricing can be considered on the higher side felt worth it to me for wedding-day services. One piece of advice: I would skip the $75 consultation call. It lasted under 15 minutes and mainly covered who would be present on the wedding day. I didn't find it particularly helpful and would suggest using that money toward something else instead. Overall, if you're clear about what you want and comfortable advocating for adjustments, Pin Me Up delivers quality wedding hair and makeup services and helped me feel great on one of the most important days of my life. read more

I had an appointment somewhere else but decided to go with Pin Me Up because they were able to come to the hotel and the cost was similar. I don't know much about hair and makeup and I wanted to look nice for a black tie wedding. I knew I couldn't pull it off on my own so I'm so glad I decided to spend the money on myself because Lily made me look stunning! She was very friendly, outgoing and helpful. They brought a sense of calm confidence from the minute they walked in on my wedding morning, and I could not have asked for better women to bring the best energy. Kim did an outstanding job on my low-bun updo, and easily made some changes that I requested from our hair trial to give me the bridal look of my dreams, but I was even more impressed with the updo she pulled off for my mom. My mom has 2-3 inch long, very fine hair and Kim created an elegant, regal updo that was absolutely stunning. Lily was equally impressive in her talent. She was extremely receptive to a few changes I requested from my bridal trial, and made everyone feel like brightened, enhanced versions of their beautiful selves. Dana and Mimi worked very quickly and efficiently the day of to get through myself, 2 moms and 6 girls. They showed up early and worked well for 4 hours to get beautiful hair and makeup on everyone. Hair held all day with no issues and makeup stayed on throughout the night. No adverse affects to our faces when the makeup came off so I would say what they use is high quality. I live in Georgia so I had limited availability for my trials but Jessica and Dana made sure that they carved out time when it was convenient for my travel schedule. I worked with Adya for my hair and Branden for my makeup and I truly believe the wedding Gods were smiling down on me when I was set up with these two. On the day of my wedding I had a moment (or two) of stress and these two took it upon themselves to calm me down and entertain me to distract me - and it worked!! This review is late in coming, but I hired Pin Me Up for my November 1st 2019 wedding. Initially for hair & makeup, but then I found a makeup artist I loved and they were very nice to change my contract without penalty. This is why I gave the extra star, they were reasonable in this way. I had my hair trial a few weeks before the wedding, I wish I had done it sooner. I showed pictures of what I wanted, and while I prepped myself to be really honest if it wasn't great, its hard in the moment to judge it with the stylist right over you. I expressed a few concerns, but honestly I started to feel really lousy about it on my way home and then at home. I had to fuss with it a lot to get it to what I wanted. It was an updo, not too complicated, and unfortunately it just didn't look good. It looked like I had a disc of hair instead of a gradual styling into a bun-ish sort of style. Instead she used a hair band into a pony and made a bun, pulling some pieces from the upper hair into the bun. I could do that myself, and it just looked flat. Fast forward, I showed my own stylist and asked advice how to correct it, and she was willing to drive to Lemont for my wedding and help out, plus Pin Me Up adjusted my contract without penalty. Again, the best part about it all. On the morning of my wedding, the stylist, Katie, who was still coming to do my bridemaid's and mother of the bride's hair, came and quickly asked me "what happened" regarding my switch of stylist. I just felt like it was none of her business and not what I wanted to discuss on my wedding day. During the day, she was very rushed even though she had plenty of time, and seemed annoyed if girls weren't just lining up for her. We had a schedule, and she rushed through the styles, and it looked it too. They said to have all the girls there at once, which is unreasonable. at 8am? when most are staying in the hotel? Chill. we have plenty of time and no one likes to feel rushed, and we were timely based on the schedule. The stylist said she's been doing wedding hair for many years, so I'm sure she's quick at these styles, but I really wasn't that impressed. One of my girls misunderstood what they meant by "blowout" and went with that, and after the blowout was done, asked for it to be pinned back (very simple, not a complicated style she was asking for) and we were told an additional $50 charge would be added. (my hair stylist fixed the style for her happily, after she heard what happened, for no charge and I found out later my friend tipped her $50. ha!) Also, I felt Katie's energy was not ideal. Obviously, hard to predict, but you just kinda want your hair or makeup stylist to arrive on time and do their job. She wanted to chat with all of us, about her son's halloween, or other things about herself. My bridesmaids are very sweet, so they engaged in conversation, but I was thinking often, we aren't here to learn about you. Please do your job and let us enjoy each other, we rarely get to spend time with each other and this is about our day. When she was done, I and offered for her to help herself to the food spread I had out for my guests. I was getting my makeup done at that time, and I noticed she was just hanging around. My bridesmaids told me later she served herself and then hung around to eat and chat with everyone. Even my makeup artist said "why is she still here? take some food to go, this is not for you to indulge in". It just put a really weird vibe into the day and I was really bummed about it. Luckily my hair stylist (Meraki Room) came after she left (so no awkward interaction there) and she brought such a lovely professional vibe that we all loved. I really wish I had gone with a different company, but it is hard to know, and after the trial it was too late to find someone else and didn't want to lose the money I had paid. I used Pin Me Up to do my bridal hair and makeup, and was very happy with how everything came out. I didn't do a bridal party, so it was just me who needed prettying up, but I was getting ready in the bridal suite of my venue, and was concerned their stylist wouldn't travel to work on just one person (plenty of other places wouldn't). Pin Me Up assured me right away that they had no minimum for traveling, so they would come to my venue to just work on me. I had Abbey for both my hair and makeup, and she was great. At my trial I showed her photos of some ideas, and she tried two different hairstyles on me to see which I liked better. Then of course I overthought things between the trial and the wedding day and asked if she could make some tweaks on the big day. She said no problem, and got to work. She was very accommodating and friendly with my friends and family who were in the suite with us (including my aunt who couldn't tell the difference between a tube of lipstick and a tube of mascara, and asked if airbrush makeup just blasts air onto my face....). The true testament to Abbey's good work was when at our first look, my now-husband, who doesn't general notice things like hair or makeup, declared, "You should wear your hair and makeup like this everyday!" I had a lot of reservations when picking out a hair and makeup team for my wedding because I am particular about my hair and makeup and, when my sister got married, we had an awful experience with her hair and makeup team. I was drawn to Pin Me Up because of their good ratings, the pictures of their work, and their flexibility as far as how many people they would be willing to do hair and makeup for. It seems that many companies require a minimum amount of people, and I did not have a bridal party and only had a handful of family members who needed to get their hair and makeup done. Jessica, the owner, was fantastic to work with. She was accommodating to my schedule and to what I was looking for as far as a hair and makeup team. Now onto the dream team that I was lucky enough to have as my hair and makeup team. I had Val do my hair and she was just so wonderful to work with. She was open to all questions and suggestions I had - even if they were silly hang ups of mine. She was super easy to work with and, honestly, I do not think my hair has ever looked so beautiful. I did not have one correction for her as far as my hair style, and I cannot be more grateful to have had her do my hair. She also did an amazing job on all the other family members' hairstyles. No one had any complaints and everyone felt super beautiful on the wedding day. Another thing I should mention is my hair stayed in place ALL DAY. It was something I was super nervous about and it was not an issue at all. The second part of my dream team was Tanya who did our makeup. I cannot say enough amazing things about Tanya. She exceeded all of my expectations as far as doing an incredible job with my makeup, but she also went above and beyond her makeup artist duties. When I first met Tanya, I told her I was not interested in airbrush makeup or fake eyelashes. My experience with airbrush makeup has been that I feel like it always makes my skin look weird and, as far as fake eyelashes, I always felt like they made me look like not myself. During my trial, Tanya asked me to trust her and simply try it and boy am I glad that I did. She did an amazing job and she made me look more flawless than I could have imagined. Fast forward to the wedding day, I was extremely nervous and on edge. Tanya recognized that and immediately started distracting me with other conversations. After finishing my makeup, I got into my dress and started taking pictures. I noticed that Tanya was sticking around even though everyone was done with their makeup. While I was taking pictures, I did a first look with my dad and immediately started crying. After I calmed down, Tanya immediately ran over and fixed my makeup and told me that she stuck around because she knew I was emotional and wanted to make sure she could touch me up if I needed it. I was blown away by that and was so appreciative. Tanya also took a bunch of pictures of me and my family from that day and made sure to send them to me. They were some of the only pictures I immediately got from that day and I was so grateful that she sent them to me. Even though my hair and makeup team was one of the top things I was worried about, it was one of the things I had to worry about the least on my wedding day and I am so grateful for that. I liked my trial, but changed how I wanted the curls for my wedding day and it was flawless. My hair stayed all day and night which never happens. So did my makeup even though I cried through 80% of my wedding day! I didn't have to think or worry about how I looked through the day and if I needed touch ups because it held up perfectly. Also, my wedding party was back and forth if they felt comfortable getting glam because of Covid, but once they saw my hair and makeup they all wanted theirs done. From my initial contact with Pin Me Up, they have been nothing short of amazing. Before I had even booked my trial date, they set aside my wedding date- without any mention of a deposit. I got married 9 days ago and Pin Me Up Chicago (Dana + Noemi) made me look like my very best self - and my girls too! I first went to Pin Me Up last year, when I was a bridesmaid in my girlfriend's wedding, I just wanted to focus on her that day so I decided to set up an appointment for hair and makeup. The entire process was so amazing that I knew when I got married, they'd be the ones to do me up again. A few months later, I got engaged in August 2013 and reached out to Pin Me Up that very same week when we booked our venue (shoutout to Cafe Babareeba!). Jessica's very first email to me was so sweet and congratulatory that I could barely wait the 6 months to walk down the aisle. I first met with Dana and Noemi on the day of my bridal shower on 2/15, with the wedding day about a month out. They were so helpful in helping me decide on what kind of bride I wanted to be, Dana and Noemi really get it. They work with you and ask you about your whole look, most of all they're great listeners. In my one thousand emails to Jessica in the one month before my wedding, I changed my mind on my hair and how many girls would be getting hair and makeup done several times and she was so understanding and accommodating. I wanted them to come to us on-site and I didn't even have the hotel booked yet when I had my trial but they were so easy in just telling me to "just let them know," once we know. The communication is seriously wonderful! When Dana did my hair at the trial (wore my hair down but wanted soft curls) she used a curling iron. Because my hair was so thick and heavy, some curls were totally straight by the end of the shower. I emailed Jessica and asked if Dana could use a curling wand for the wedding. Fast forward to our wedding date on 3/15 and because of my early wedding time, both Noemi and Dana arrived at our suite at the Four Seasons Chicago promptly a little before their 5am call time - which is so thoughtful. They were excited and ready to make us beautiful. All my sisters (who stood for me) and my mom looked wonderful, Noemi did a great job, seriously I wish we were friends in real life because her makeup skills are LEGIT. I am trying to think of any upcoming events just so I can have her do my makeup again. Dana is the best when it comes to hair! I am definitely not a "bridey" type bride. By that I mean, I wasn't wearing white, there would be no wedding party and I wanted to keep things as low key as possible. I did, however, want my hair to look nice in a style that would compliment my retro, navy blue dress. I contacted quite a few salons and stylists, only to find that they were out of my budget or they wouldn't travel to me unless I had a minimum number of other girls getting their hair done as well. Finally, I found Pin Me Up and I couldn't be happier with the fantastic job Dana did on my hair. She was super flexible and easy to work with. We were late getting started (per fault of myself and bridesmaids), but she and her stylist were able to give us beautiful hair in a super speedy amount of time. She charges VERY reasonable prices for up-dos, especially when you factor in that she comes to your location. Originally in my trial run I was going to wear my hair in an up-do - however, the morning of the wedding I changed my mind. Dana was super flexible and accommodating with me. My hair is hard to curl, and I wore it down - it lasted the entire night, even while dancing the night away! Since pictures are worth a thousand words, take a look at mine for yourself. My experience with PMU was deeply frustrating and disappointing at every turn on both the service end as well as the business administration end. A recurring theme with PMU was that they never really seemed to actually read the emails I sent. They would ask me a for a head count, I would clearly spell out how many people I had and what services they would need, and PMU would send over an agreement or receipt that was just....incorrect, and then seem surprised when I pushed the issue. I had initially asked for light, airbrush makeup for my trial but the woman who did my makeup at the trial immediately started in by layering two high-coverage foundations on me without giving me the chance to correct her. They then, of course, tried to charge the $25 extra for airbrush makeup despite not having done it. The trial they did for my hair was perfectly fine. Nothing special, but good enough. However, the hair stylist told me she'd be sending pictures to me immediately and yet...nothing came for weeks. I assumed she'd gotten busy and forgotten. When I followed up several weeks later, she said something to the effect of "oops! I sent it to the wrong number" - and nobody ever bothered to check on that. The makeup was 100% Instagram-style makeup which was the complete antithesis of what I had asked for. The girl doing my makeup seemed very nervous which didn't instill a whole lot of confidence in me. After about 4 hours, all of the makeup had slid off my face. I looked like a caked-up, greasy mess. Eyeshadow was totally gone, eyelashes were falling off, and I looked so orange that I wanted to cry. My biggest mistake was not canceling them immediately after the trial. I sent a full page of notes to makeup artist listing things I would want to change about the look. After mulling that over for a few weeks, I realized that I didn't want someone I didn't trust with me on my wedding day. I emailed a woman named Jessica expressing my concerns and disappointment with the way they treated me, and she hit me with a "I'm so sorry you feel that way! Our contract is flexible because we know things change at the last minute" which was dismissive, unprofessional, and deeply rude. Chicago brides - I know PMU is one of the cheapest options in the city. But please, either splurge on true professionals or just take your time and money to buy makeup that works for you and watch a YouTube makeup tutorial - I promise it will spare you some stress. read more

Horrible and Disgusting! I wish I could give ZERO stars.. this by far was the worst Bridal makeup experience ever!!! The makeup artist did not clean her brushes between sessions and the makeup application was horrible! Clean your brushes between clients and keep a clean makeup case... if your makeup is old throw it out! This is makeup artist RULE #1 and common sense! This was extremely unhygienic and unsanitary!! We were completely disgusted!!! Half the girls were in tears! The 5 girls that had their makeup applied by Dana's assistant all had to end up fixing their makeup or were washing their faces off and reapplying their own makeup. There were 2 bridesmaids that looked as if they had clown makeup on and a few hours later bloodshot eyes from the poorly applied lashes that were falling off! Unfortunately it was after the fact we noticed her makeup was extremely dirty, old and brushes again were not cleaned between makeup sessions, they were only dabbed on a dry napkin just to dust off the excess makeup. We didn't want to ruin the Brides day so we all ended up paying very unhappily and truly it wasn't worth it! We all hated the makeup and I cannot mention enough how dirty, cheap, old, caked, unsanitary and a complete disgusting experience! It was supposed to be a special day and that moment literally ruined it! We advised Dana and all she said was "oh ok.. I'll mention it to her but I'm sure it's because it was chaotic" No apology no offer to refund a portion of the payment or a simple discount, NOTHING! I'm sorry Dana that's NO EXCUSE since there were other makeup artists there who had applied makeup to equal if not more bridesmaids and they still cleaned off the brushes with cleaning solution and alcohol after every makeup application, even with all the chaos! This is my 1st review ever and it's so sad that it had to be a bad one. I'm not one to complain but this just did not sit right with me! COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! read more

I needed hair and makeup artists for my July 2017 wedding, and since I wasn't sure where to begin, I started by searching on TheKnot.com for different ideas. I then found Pin Me Up Chicago through TheKnot.com and I'm so glad I found them! Kelly was my makeup artist, and Dana (who is also the owner) was my hair stylist. They were both wonderful! I went into the studio on Wabash for my trial a few weeks before the wedding and it is a nice space in a great downtown location. You can come with ideas, or let them guide you on what looks best for your skin and hair type. They are true professionals with very reasonable Chicago prices. On the big day, both Kelly and Dana arrived promptly on time (even 2 minutes early!) to begin styling. This is so important on such an important day with so many timelines to meet. Pin Me Up also prides themselves on their promptness-you won't be disappointed! Both Kelly and Dana listened to what I had in mind for hair and makeup for myself, my bridesmaids, and the mother of the bride. Kelly was great with providing me and my bridal party with natural and sleek looks and makeup lasted all day. For hair, Dana styled updos for my bridal party and it looked so sophisticated and elegant. My hair was down and curly, and the curls lasted all day (They will even work with you to ensure that your bridal party looks match your vision as a bride (even if you have difficulty getting members of your bridal party to agree on your vision). The girls at Pin Me Up could not have been better!! Not only were the super accommodating to a last minute booking for my wedding, but they did an amazing job. In addition to Dana and Alyssa being ridiculously talented, they are so sweet- genuinely enjoyed spending my wedding morning with them!!! They were super receptive to feedback and making sure that I (and my bridal party) looked exactly how we imagined. Dana is a great stylist.She cuts and colors my hair and I just love her to death. She always looks very hip as well. Her cut, style and color on her own hair is great too. A lot of times stylists don't look so great themselves, but Dana always does. And she has a great sense of fashion too. Not to mention a sweet and professional demeanor. I always hate having to find a new stylist. But I'm extremely happy with Dana and recommend her highly for cut or color.
