September 2024 bride that used Diem Angie for their makeup services and I particularly enjoyed my makeup artist Pati. I had a Chicago wedding and currently residing in LA, I had a hard time pulling the trigger on a makeup artist for my wedding, waiting until 2 weeks before to finally decide. I was drawn to DIem Angie Co. for their gallery and experience with Asian features. After filling out their online form and sending inspiration photos, they sent over a detailed contract (to expire within 2 days). 20% gratuity is already added to the payment. Payment is through zelle or CC with a 4% processing fee. Extra add-ons are paid to the artist after (e.g., lashes and airbrush foundation is an extra charge) through Zelle. Email communication was ok but Diem was straight to the point and provided a timeline right up front which was helpful in planning my day. What was a little spotty was understanding who my makeup artist(s) would be - it wasn't told to me until I asked a week before the wedding because I had just assumed it was Diem (and Melissa who was cc'ed in all emails) since it wasn't noted prior. Pati was my lead makeup artist and hair for myself and she was wonderful! I had my makeup trial the day prior to my wedding and she was very kind, thorough, and asked a lot of questions to get all the details right. I appreciated how she listened to my concerns and we worked through a couple different hair styles which was great. I was wearing a traditional Vietnamese headpiece so we tried that on to make sure it worked with the hair as well. I felt really comfortable with her and she was upfront about any additional costs. On the day of, she was on time, very prepared and worked with each bridesmaid until they satisfied with their look. She gave me some products to keep fo touch-up later on as well. Diem was amazing! She did my hair and makeup for my wedding on 8/22/2020. Due to COVID, planning was a little nuts, but Diem was very patient as we initially scrambled to push the date out to a time we thought would be safer, and eventually as the entire look of the wedding changed when we switched to a virtual wedding. She asked me to send hair and makeup inspiration photos to her ahead of time, and answered all my questions about what lip colors she thought would work best with my outfit. For the day of, she arrived exactly on time and worked very efficiently. Before we got started, she went through my inspiration photos to pinpoint what I liked most about each, so she could put together the best possible look for me. Because of the current COVID mask restrictions, she could not do my foundation/blush, but she gave me very detailed and helpful instructions to make sure I did it properly. This review is long overdue! I've used Diem Angie agency twice for my engagement photoshoot and actual wedding. Both times my artists were fantastic and professional. Alexandra did my hair and makeup for the engagement shoot and not only did she arrive early to set up her station, her work was awesome and my makeup looked very natural on me. Alexandra was also very sweet - my naughty cat jumped onto her station at our home and she was very calm and kind about it (while immediately sanitizing her tools so don't worry!). I had the maestro, the one and only Jean Ramos, do my hair and makeup for the wedding. Her communication is great, and she is good at listening to and incorporating feedback. I truly loved my hair and makeup for the wedding, and am so impressed that she created a hairstyle for me that wasn't in any inspo photos. On my actual wedding day, she nailed it by exactly replicating what we did in our trial. This is no easy feat because I think not all artists can do it (making sure they're delivering what you expect from the trial). Jean took lots of notes and photos during our trial, and we also exchanged our notes over email, to make this happen. I could not have asked for a better makeup/hair artist for my small wedding in Chicago, IL. From the moment Diem walked into our room, she took charge of the whole situation and helped us figure out our dream looks. When I sent her my inspiration photos ahead of time, I honestly had no idea what I was looking at. I was introduced to Diem Angie by my phenomenal wedding planner, who had nothing but good things to say about her. And after the last few months, I'm in the same camp. Diem is a fairy godmother, and her team of MUAs and hairstylists are just as wonderful at their jobs as she is. At my makeup and hair trial with Diem, I loved that she took the typical consultation questions just one step further than your average artist. She was not just asking me for photos and looks that I liked, but what specifically about each photo and look that made me choose it. I really got the sense she wanted to understand my aesthetic, preferences and comfort levels with various types of makeup and hairstyles, and that's why I chose her for my wedding day. I decided to test trial the rest of the team through my Match Day (arguably a bigger deal than my medical school graduation day), Michelle and Abbey were able to travel downtown to my location to help me with makeup and hair, which i really appreciated because it's a huge day for photos. They showed up early, not just on time, and immediately put me at ease while they helped me look my best for the day. I booked Michelle through Diem Angie for my big day and was glad I did! I am African American and was worried about making sure I worked with someone who had experience with women of all skin tones/types. It was really important to me that I didn't look too shiny on my big day as I prefer a matte look. Michelle was very flexible with me and able to make recommendations on different products that I could use to achieve the look that I wanted. I changed up my look a few weeks for the wedding (which I know was probably super annoying), but Michelle went with it and was able to save me from myself by checking-in with me as she was working to make sure that I would be happy with the overall look. I don't typically wear a lot of makeup, so I am usually overwhelmed with how I look after I get my makeup done. Before contacting Diem, I actually had a makeup trial with another vendor and it was beyond horrible! Based on my previous experience, I was pretty skeptical about my makeup for my wedding to the point of considering just doing my makeup myself! Jean diligently worked with our wedding planner to create a specific timeline for each girl's hair and makeup to ensure we started and ended on time. My hair didn't hold up the same by reception time but that was mainly due Chicago's crazy wind. My makeup on the other hand defeated tears, wind, and sweat all day and night! Jean was especially helpful in contacting me months before the wedding to let me know the products I should buy on my own such as lipstick so I am able to reapply on my own throughout the day.
