We were referred to Randy S through another company. We had an issue with our air conditioning unit & circuit breakers being exposed to a water leak from an upstairs unit (we are on the second floor). We wanted to make sure since it was a slow leak that there was no mold growing behind or inside the unit. Called this company and they were able to set an appointment for us the following day. I had explained we had a prior test done through our building's subcontractors, but we wanted a second opinion and to ensure every measure was taken before we were going to get the work done with our buildings team. Johnathan P arrived early the following morning and was extremely thorough in his work. We received a full report the following day that broke everything down as far as the visual inspection what it revealed and the readily visible water and suspected mold impact on the building materials and with in the HVAC closet. The environmental assessment was similar to the contractors our leasing office used but the surface sample mold spores taken the previous company failed to test for. Randy was supportive with our concerns was available through text messages if we had a questions and along with the report he provided us very descriptive information with what we were actually dealing with. This company was wonderful to work with and higley recommend We were in an unfortunate situation due to our living conditions that we were unable to choose this company for repairs and had to go with a quick fix from our rental property. Eventually after battling back and for with the leasing office they FINALLY had a subcontractor come out and clean all the coils to the unit as it in fact had questionable and concerning mold growth. We would not have known this if we hadn't had Adaptive Environmental Consulting Group come out and do the professional analysis that should have been done to begin with. Also, the leasing office wanted a copy of this report and we were unwilling to do so because they were not willing to reimburse us the cost of this 2nd opinion. What a huge waste. Randy sounded okay but if Johnathon shows up I wouldn't bother. I showed him to the bathroom where the toilet leak was. I woke up today feeling awful. I asked him if the toilet leak could be causing that. He said "I dunno, it looks nasty."' I showed him the vanity. He didn't even get down and actually look IN it. He just peeked inside from afar. Then i showed him another room and said that it's musty smelling and he didn't seem to know much about that. I called someone else when he left, and right over the phone she said "of course the back up from the toilet could be making you feel sick. There's bacteria and maybe mold in there.' Ahhh. So much more pro sounding than 'that's nasty.' Also he was supposed to call if not coming at the certain time so I could put my dog away. He didn't do that and was really nasty about it when I asked why. read more

My total mold levels were quite low under 500 m3. This could have been made clearer relative to concerns other people would have with readings 100x worse. The first quote, from an Adaptive recommended cleanup crew came in at close to $8,000. It included another fee to test for mold again for nearly double initial test. I called again and I as able to reach Jordon who was able to render a more descriptive assessment of risk. He was helpful in advising how to best treat the issue. read more

John Evans did an excellent job testing my home for mold. The air samples showed lower mold levels inside the home when compared to the outside test sample. This was great news, but John found my washing machine did have elevated levels of mold growth. This may have been missed by other mold testing companies, but was a very important factor due to multiple mold allergies I have. John was on time, courteous, and completed a full visual inspection of my home. The test results came back in 24 hours, and the cost of testing was industry standard. I did a bit of research prior to hiring Adaptive Environmental and found a few things you should ask your mold testing company before hiring them: Do you test and do mold remediation? (You only want the company to test for mold. If they remove mold from your home as an additional service, commonly costing thousands of dollars, they will always find mold. This is an obvious conflict of interest no matter what they tell you.) What lab do you send your test samples to and are they accredited? (You want to contact the lab and verify, the lab is just as important as the company testing for mold.) Are you certified to test for mold? If so by who? (If they are only a contractor, without mold certifications, pass on the company) Explain the three levels of mold contamination IICRC S520 condition 1, 2, and 3. (If they have no idea what this is, don't hire this person to test for mold. These are basic principles and should be understood by certified mold inspectors.) Do you have any claims filed against you with the BBB or ROC? (If they are BBB accredited or happen to be a licensed contractor). These questions should give you a general feel for the mold inspector. I also wouldn't have anyone destroy your house, drywall, or do any expensive work until you get a second option from another lab and mold inspector. Keep in mind, if the inspector is also doing the expensive remediation, chances are they will find toxic black mold throughout the entire house that will kill your family if you don't remove it today! I ran across so many of these stories researching this topic it was disheartening. Keep the company doing the mold removal separate and keep yourself safe from fraud. I hope this review keeps others from getting scammed and promotes this company as a quality mold testing solution. read more

I hired and paid $410 to Adaptive Environmental Consulting IV, Inc and John Evans came to our home to perform a mold test. I was told I would receive a report in two days, I called John and left a message to please return my call but no return call. Couple of days later I called to inform him I have not received the report. John said he would call me back but he never did. Few days later I sent a e-mail I received a e-mail back saying he would call me at 2pm but he never did. Finally received some documents in my e-mail but I do not understand what all the verbiage and the numbers mean. Really you take my money and then blow me off. Thank you John, You owned it, apologized, made it right and I can except that. I give props to you and Adaptive Environmental Consulting most companies would of taken the money and ran... This company cost us thousands of dollars. We had a house under contract and they did a radon test. The test came back IN SPECIFICATIONS! under 4 ppm. And yet they told the people that they will get sick from radon. In the North the limits are 8ppm and up. NEVER ever use this company if you want to sell a house.
