I wonder if anyone else experienced this. Ordered the fish and chips at the hotel bar and only had 2 fillets. And one of them was smaller than a chicken tender. We were excited to try one of the newest restaurants in Ada. Without a reservation, we were seated right away on the outdoor patio. The atmosphere is great and the design of the property is beautiful. You can tell that everything was thought through from the silverware and glasses to the furniture and light fixtures. Our server was very friendly and took great care of us. The drinks took a little while to arrive each round but our server apologized and the bartenders were clearly busy. We decided to order a bunch of small plates to share. The Caesar Salad was very fishy and I probably wouldn't order it again, but that's authentic I guess? The Truffle Fries were delicious, but pretty hard to mess that up. We loved the Calamari because it was very lightly fried and the sauce was great. The Slider Trilogy sounded amazing on the menu but it fell short for us. Each slider had all of the same toppings but the protein changed. We felt they all basically tasted the same, which bummed us out. They would be great if the Ahi Tuna had wasabi or something different. Overall, pretty cool spot for a date night or special occasion. The prices definitely reflect a higher end restaurant and more expensive Ada. We will definitely come back and try more stuff. read more

What a lovely NEW property to visit! But ONLY if you are here for the food or drinks. ***DO NOT BOOK OR ACCEPT ROOM 25*** It's right below the kitchen/bar on the third floor. At 9:00pm we were understanding of LOUD bumps shuffles knocks bangs and pounding... But once 11:30pm rolled around we had to call down to the front desk to see what time the bar might quiet down. To let them know just how loud the banging and pounding was. She said, Sorry then asked if we would like to move rooms. Maybe advise guests when first assigning this room would be better. read more

Giving this 4 stars for the hotel and vibe but this Rix place just ain't it. Medium rare steaks came out looking like pot roast, shrimp is under cooked and the seafood tower came out of the thornapple river im pretty sure. To be fair, service was incredible. read more

My wife and I went to Rix for dinner last night. It was 75 and sunny in mid March in Michigan (never seen that before) so we jumped on the chance to do a date night at a new spot! Rix didn't disappoint. We sat at the bar along that looked out onto the river. They had the garage door or window opened up so it felt like we were sitting outside. It was awesome. My wife got a cab to drink- decent pour. We started with the elote hummus- not bad at all- a little bland, but plated well and lots of dipping vessels. I got a Caesar with chicken- chicken was awesome and I enjoyed the anchovies and poached eggs- great touch. My wife got the chef's board- she really liked it. One of the cheeses was a vanilla bean and bourbon cheese from Wisconsin- super unique and delicious. All said- a great night with good food and a fun atmosphere. Worth checking out! read more

We stayed at the Ada hotel for my birthday. The hotel room was gorgeous in and of itself. The rest of the hotel was immaculate. Beautifully decorated. We got a king size bed with a balcony. The balcony overlooked the park in the river. There was high end shampoo/conditioner/soap/lotion provided in the room. We visited the two restaurants on site: Rix and The Post. You're able to bring your drinks around the hotel with you if you are staying there. It was the weekend of the Kentucky Derby so the staff showed out in traditional Derby attire. That was really cool to see. My only gripe about the room was there was a ledge blocking the street from view when we sat down in the chairs on the balcony. I like to people watch and couldn't do that sitting down. Would definitely stay again. read more

Rix Restaurant offers an amazing atmosphere that made for a perfect dining experience. I tried the O.O.F., a tequila old fashioned, and it was exceptional--smooth with a wonderfully smoky flavor. For dessert, I had the Bird Berry Farms Upside Down Pie, which was absolutely delicious. The fresh berries and homemade flaky pie dough were a perfect match, and the vanilla gelato on top added a creamy, refreshing finish. Highly recommend both the drink and dessert! read more

We stayed at the Ada Hotel after our friends wedding this weekend and we cannot say enough amazing things about this hotel & employees (especially Ashden). The bar & lobby was an amazing and fun atmosphere for our group to hang out in after both the rehearsal and wedding. Our room was phenomenal with luxury & cozy amenities. Location is also 10/10 for a weekend get away. We only live 15 minutes away, but will absolutely be staying again! read more

Ambiance and service were great. My food was okay. Calamari app was delicious. The Rix burger was solid but I'm not sure it was $22 good ( very thin bun,Not much sauce, cooked well) I know why get a burger at such a nice place but it sounded good. My wife had the meatballs (vegan) which were great but the cauliflower bread seemed very dry. The cauliflower steak was really disappointing my wife couldn't even finish it as it was very salty and there wasn't much of a char taste. If you're a mushroom fan the mock fried rice is good. I also think the pineapple glaze was missing. Overall was fun to try a new place. Ambiance 5/5 , Service 5/5, Food 3/5. Have to rate overall 3/5 as food didn't live up to what we hoped read more

Went with friends after a round of golf for dinner. Was looking forward to the fish and chips , best in Grand Rapids and a piece of their carrot cake to take home for later since it was the best ever carrot cake in west Michigan. Well the fish and chips did not disappoint, the service was fantastic and I was looking forward to that carrot cake later tonight or during the week . I opened the box to show my friends, which looking at it I knew it had changed. So when the.server returned I asked if they had a new carrot cake, which he replied yes since they use to have a pastry chef that made it and they were not longer there. But he heard this was good too, well is just ok ..I suggest they find their old chef , pay them to show someone how to make the old version or hire them back full time. Until then I will once again be looking for the best carrot cake because this is not it anymore. Stick to the main course and don't waste your time on this cake read more
