My next visit was because my S&W 5.7 had jammed the day before at the range and I was unable to clear the spent round. At 70' years of age my hand strength and dexterity is not what it once was. Again, I was greeted upon entry and asked what I needed. Explained it and he examined the pistol and managed to pull the slide back with concerted effort. Checked out the gun, removed a sliver of brass that was likely the culprit. He then cleaned the weapon and handed back. Was done gratis. IT's rare I rate a business 5 Stars. Those I do have to go above and beyond.... which is why I rated Preparedness Depot 5 Stars. I contacted them and sent them photographs of the scope the next day showing they'd shipped the wrong item. They emailed me a prepaid label that day. I dropped it off at ups the next day and shipped my correct scope and some swag to make it up to me before the old scope even got to them. Great customer service by these guys. Also the scope was about 16% cheaper than anywhere else I looked. Great value, service, and people!

On top of that the instructor didn't check anyone's head gear, or anything like that to make sure they could shoot safely. My ears are STILL ringing two weeks after my class so I'm pretty sure it's permanent. Which is just GREAT. Further, once we were on the range the instructor didn't help me at all. There were only 3 people in the class. He just told me to shoot rounds and that's it. If I wanted to pay for a power point slide presentation and range time then I would have looked up a YouTube video and then gone to shoot by myself. I paid a lot of money for a class to end up with hearing damage and not feeling ANY better about using the weapon I purchased.

Judging from some of the others reviews, I'm not the only one who's had the pleasure ... ahem ... of dealing with this guy. I have an Sig P365 xMacro. Nice EDC pistol except for the trigger. Bought an MCarbo trigger on-line but I no longer have the manual dexterity to do detailed gun work so I took it to Tru Prep. The gunsmith says, I hate working on those and don't want to do it. Fine, I thought, I'll just go somewhere else. But then he follows that with, I'd have to charge you an arm and a leg to do it. I asked how much is an arm and a leg in dollars. Hundred bucks. Sheesh. But I need it done so I said, proceed. How long will it take? A week, he says. Two weeks go by and I haven't heard from him. I call the store. He's not there but Amy, he's be of their awesome employees, offers to email the gunsmith right away. I simply want to know when my pistol will be ready. No response from the gunsmith. I call the shop last week and manage to get him on the phone. When will my pistol be ready? This week, he says. I wait until today, Sunday. I go in and he's got an attitude (how DARE I expect him to meet his commitment, right?). I merely said, I'm here to pick up my pistol. No apology whatsoever, the guy just hands it back. Three weeks and I still don't have my trigger installed. Would I recommend this place for gunsmithing work? Am I allowed to say HELL NO! on Yelp? Again, the store itself is staffed by nice people. My problem is with the arrogant, undependable gunsmith. Unfortunately there's not a way to post a review about him without dinging the store as well. However, perhaps the owner will see this negative review and realize he's got a problem employee who's reflecting poorly on the place as a whole.
