My brother and I grew up shooting and hunting with our dad and it's something we have been wanting…read moreto do again for years, but we lost our dad in 2018 and even though our dad had handguns, shotguns and rifles, we mainly only shot rifles when we were hunting with our dad and bb and pellet handguns. We were a little nervous to shoot a handgun for the first time and without our dad to teach us the right way. Most gun ranges that we have looked at seem very right wing and judgemental and like we didn't belong. So we thought we would never find a place where we felt safe to shoot. We checked out GUNSMOKE Firearms because a guy at a sporting goods store we were at recommended them because he shoots there. So we decided to go take a look and see what we thought. We also just sold some of dad's old guns and have been looking to purchase a new gun each for protection. We got to GunSmoke with the intention of just looking in the store, looking at the guns and finding out more about the shooting range. There was no right wing branded signs everywhere, the people were super friendly and nice. We told them that we had never really shot handguns, but grew up hunting and using different guns with our dad but we have been wanting to find a shooting range to shoot at. They were so kind and friendly, they told us we could shoot that very day if we wanted and they showed us everything we needed to know about shooting a handgun, where the safety was, how to load the gun, how to hold our hands, how to stand, it made us feel like our dad was there with us. We felt so comfortable we ended up shooting for over an hour. Their prices are some of the best we have found anywhere and we have done our research. They let you rent guns you want to try there. So even though it's a little over an hour away from our house, we loved it and will be back regularly. Thank you GUNSMOKE for giving us this safe place to shoot and feel closer to our dad even though he isn't still here with us.

It doesn't appear the owners ever respond to reviews so I doubt they'll ever acknowledge this, but…read moreanyways. This store had a used Desert Eagle chambered in .44 magnum for sale for $1,399. I asked to look at the gun and noticed that it was written on the tags "comes w/ 2 extra mags". A brand new desert eagle of the same finish and caliber is only $200 more expensive so $1,399 isn't a spectacular deal or anything but given the magazines aren't carried in many local stores and are $50 a pop I figured $1,399 for 3 magazines (the gun comes factory with one magazine and the tag said 2 extra) was pretty good so I went ahead and put it on layaway. (Their layaway policy is great here btw) I came back a little over a week later to pay off the gun and pick it up and once I've paid and gotten my paperwork done I see the guy that pulled it from the back is scrambling and looking around. He finally walks up, pulls the tag off the gun and just says "there you go". I say "hey, I know that tag mentions two extra magazines. If it doesn't have them can you take $20 per magazine off so I can go buy a couple of new ones". To which he responded "nope, I thought it had another magazine but it looks like someone snatched it and the gun is still priced accordingly". Ok? To buy two of those magazines I'm going to spend another $80-$100 that I previously wasn't planning on spending. I feel pretty displeased especially since this place offers less than 50% of what your gun is going to sell for when they buy it from you. So they definitely had the margins to cut $40 off the price for their mistake instead of trying to hide it then telling me it was still properly priced. I will likely still shop here but not with the sale level of trust I had before, and will likely check out other stores before coming here

Judging from some of the others reviews, I'm not the only one who's had the pleasure ... ahem ... of dealing with this guy. I have an Sig P365 xMacro. Nice EDC pistol except for the trigger. Bought an MCarbo trigger on-line but I no longer have the manual dexterity to do detailed gun work so I took it to Tru Prep. The gunsmith says, I hate working on those and don't want to do it. Fine, I thought, I'll just go somewhere else. But then he follows that with, I'd have to charge you an arm and a leg to do it. I asked how much is an arm and a leg in dollars. Hundred bucks. Sheesh. But I need it done so I said, proceed. How long will it take? A week, he says. Two weeks go by and I haven't heard from him. I call the store. He's not there but Amy, he's be of their awesome employees, offers to email the gunsmith right away. I simply want to know when my pistol will be ready. No response from the gunsmith. I call the shop last week and manage to get him on the phone. When will my pistol be ready? This week, he says. I wait until today, Sunday. I go in and he's got an attitude (how DARE I expect him to meet his commitment, right?). I merely said, I'm here to pick up my pistol. No apology whatsoever, the guy just hands it back. Three weeks and I still don't have my trigger installed. Would I recommend this place for gunsmithing work? Am I allowed to say HELL NO! on Yelp? Again, the store itself is staffed by nice people. My problem is with the arrogant, undependable gunsmith. Unfortunately there's not a way to post a review about him without dinging the store as well. However, perhaps the owner will see this negative review and realize he's got a problem employee who's reflecting poorly on the place as a whole.
