We were customers of Active Pest Control for a number of years and had been happy with the service. When we saw mouse activity in the house again, we asked for an inspector to come back to see where they were getting in. We were unhappy with the inspector who was sent out, who did not do a thorough review-- refusing to check places inside the house (attic, pantry) where the company had sealed and set traps in the past. After trying unsuccessfully to deal with it ourselves, after a few months we asked for another inspector to be sent out and forwarded our complaints about the last inspector. An appointment was set, and the day before, I received an email saying that because I had complained about the previous inspector, they would not send anyone else to our house. Really disappointed with such an unprofessional response to customer feedback. There are plenty of other companies out there. read more

We had our house fumigated on Nov 15-17. The team arrived on time. the house was tented in about two hours. On the third day, the team arrived on time and cleared their tenting equipment and cleared the house in about 90 minutes. I contacted APC based on positive Yelp reviews. They were busy but were able to squeeze me in for a consultation. Ray came out and did a thorough inspection of the home. His demeanor was calm and knowledgeable. He explained risks to plants and tile roofs due to fumigation. To ease my fear of collateral damage, APC sent out tech to move rocks away from my deck. They also agreed to replace up to 25 pieces of roof tiles for free. On the day off, they performed a walk through with me to make sure I liked how the tent was done. Afterwards, they provided some photos of roof tile replacement. Overall, I am extremely happy with their competitive pricing, great communication, and workmanship. Earlier this week I called Active Pest Control for an appointment due to a possible rodent issue. When I called I told them what I thought was going on and said that I wanted someone to go under the house to inspect. The person who took my call told me that they gave estimates for free and that this included going under the house. I even went as far to specifically ask if there would be any fees once they got here in case we didn't end up hiring them. The answer was "no, they do a complete in/out estimate for free". Before we hung up I also asked to confirm that the technician coming to the house would be wearing a mask. Their answer was "yes". Unfortunately at the time of our appointment, we found out that neither of these statements were true. When Van arrived to my home he was not wearing a mask. When I asked him about it, he said "I don't usually wear a mask, do you really want me to wear one?". I was stunned as we are in the middle of a pandemic and the least someone could do when coming to a stranger's home is to show concern for our safety and health. Even after I told him I did want him to wear a mask, he did not wear it properly. That was a huge red flag for me. Still, I was willing to let him in as long as he did put on the mask and when I started to guide him into the house he immediately said that he would not be going under the house. He only went under the house for $150. Since these were the two things I made sure to clarify on the phone I felt deceived and agitated that this company was intentionally wasting my time. He also told me that he was in charge and that this was his company, which is a bit confusing after looking at this page again. It was also very concerning that Van was not able to give adequate customer service. He had a rude and "know it all" / belittling demeanor to the landlord and I (both women). When the landlord came over to also ask questions he refused to answer them. For example, when she asked about pricing he turned and looked at me and said "I already told you and threw his arms up". Such horrible customer service if you ask me, to not be able to take an extra minute to explain things properly and in a friendly manner to the person who would be writing the check. When she asked him to show her where there was holes around the house he straight up said "I don't think I'm going to help you" and left. Van treated us like we were dumb (when the landlord arrived to my home he told her: "Listen, lady you have to understand that ..." with such a rude and demeaning tone) like we didn't matter and weren't worth his time (he didn't even try to walk around the property to show the landlord where the issues he saw were) instead he left when questioned. TLDR: This company does not provide accurate pricing over phone. They told me it was free estimate for entire house, once at my house he wanted to charge $150 to go under the house. Van had extremely poor customer service. I wish that in 2020 I no longer had to question if this interaction would've gone differently had my husband and/or the landlord's husband been available to talk to Van. I am unhappy with the outcome. I used this service for a one time treatment and a second follow up treatment; not long term monthly or bi monthly treatment. I feel they vaguely sprayed around foliage and sprayed inside house. There was confusion with bait vs ant spray killer, one time a tech came without lawn pellets, and two different technicians provided services. The service staff was polite. Treatment was not comprehensive enough based on the cost. I had ants after treatment, the entire time between treatments and ants today. I realize there are different severities of infestations and of course they want to come and spray every month as a maintenance (more costs), but I am not sold their actual treatment is effective. I was told to remove foliage and find holes etc. which is logical. Yes I will just do the maintenance myself. But would not hire again read more

This is my 2nd summer calling this company to come out and spray around my house. Last year the gentleman came on time and did a great job. As a matter of fast we haven't seen hardly any ants around or in our house since then. Because it was exactly a year we wanted someone to come out and spray again. This time a very nice gentleman named Sal came to spray. He was very nice, professional, on time, and explained to me what he was doing and even gave a few tips. He explained their monthly service and how it was a good idea. I didn't go with the monthly service, once a year is fine. I paid $175 for them to spray the exterior of my house and in the garage. Active Pest Control (562) 860-7777 in Bellflower is a great company. They have helped me out for years, mostly for termite infestations. A few weeks ago, I took the cushions off my couch to vacuum. Where the cushions meet the back of the couch (where people sit!!) were tiny black 3-4 mm long pellets. I called my son and sent him a photo, freaking out and thinking I had roaches in my house. Nope. He said I had a mouse in my couch...at least one. The droppings were fresh. The couch was old. My son came over and moved the couch to the curb for big item pickup later in the week and I immediately called Active Pest Control! They sent someone out quickly (I have a contract), checked the house from attic down including the garage, and set traps. It is now several weeks later and Alex (Active Pest Control) was just here to check things out yet again. Active Pest Control has made several visits to make sure no more mice appeared. This time, after confirming there were no more signs of mice, Alex removed the traps and told me to be sure to call right away if I saw any signs of pests invading my space. First of all, I would like to say that Rodney was very good. So they sent him out to boost your confidence on the company. He's very kind and thorough and very patient. There's a lack of communication with the office and the actual individual who comes out to do the job, the technician. I feel it was over priced. They said they were giving us a 20% discount because my mother is disabled and she has to pay for healthcare expenses. But again there was a miscommunication and there was no 20% discount they just wanted to tell me that so they can get the job done. But it was already too late. I just got termite treatment from Active Pest Control last week, and so far, so good!! Hope it stays that way!! So I was seeing termite swarms around the kitchen sink area for about a week, before I left the window closed to make sure it was coming from the inside versus the outside. After about 1 1/2 weeks, I knew it was coming from the inside, so I ended up looking up termite companies that do alternative treatment other than fumigation. I came across a couple that had good reviews that I've reached out to, and Active Pest Control was one of them. I ended up calling them instead of going my usual Yelp messaging route, and explained the situation. The guy on the phone was helpful and asked for my information to set up the appointment for the inspection. The day of the inspection, Mario gave me a courtesy call before he came. When he came, he looked around the kitchen, in the cupboards, and everywhere, but couldn't figure out where they could be coming out from. I was hesitant to agree on a treatment plan, since I didn't want to go through termite treatment again, and we didn't know if these ones are coming from the outside or inside and I didn't want to treat without making sure of the source first, so I told him I'll wait and see if there's anymore swarms just to make sure it's coming from the inside, and he agreed. A couple days later, I ended up seeing more swarms, and the windows weren't opened, so I knew for sure it was coming from the inside. Plus, I saw some dead ones in the kitchen ceiling lights, so I knew it had to have been from the inside. I called the office about it, and they set an appointment with Mario to come back out for the official inspection so that we can figure out a treatment plan. The day of inspection, Mario gave me a call before he came as well. When he came, I showed him the termites in the kitchen light panels, and he knew from there that it had to be from the inside. But we couldn't figure out how. He went outside to check, and then he realized that we had a patio covering there before, and that ended up clicking. That was how the termites came in between the floors. There was termite damage to the wood patio covering, and that was why we had gotten it removed a year ago. Then after he looked around the house to see if there were any other damages, as well as looking in the attic, he was able to give me a quote right then and there. I could have actually signed it right then and there as well, but I had to think about it, because it was a large chunk of money. Mario was okay with that, and told me to give him a call if I had any questions or anything. Bless Mario's heart, because I was bugging him with a call each day for the next few days asking him questions about the treatment, the warranty, and just anything and everything. I had asked Mario about something, and he asked if I had gotten the report, and that was when he coordinated with the office to make sure the report was sent to me. He was so patient with me, unlike other companies who just ignores me if I start asking questions for clarification. I really like it when companies answer any questions you have, and make you feel comfortable for hiring them. So about a few days later, we decided to hire them to treat the termites, with heat treatment as well as Boracare. I called Mario back and told him the news, and he coordinated with the office to take care of the deposit and confirm the appointment (I had asked for a specific day). I was told that Mario as well as Tony will be there for the treatment. The office then coordinated with me for the deposit and then for the paperwork. I ended up exchanging some emails with Johnny for clarification with the paperwork, as well as calling Mario for the last of the clarifications that I needed to sign the paperwork. On the day of treatment, they were supposed to be there between 8am - 10am. By 10am and still nothing, I thought that was a little odd. About 10 minutes later, I got a call from the office. The technicians were running a little late and that they'd be there within the hour. About 10 minutes later, I saw a truck roll up to the house. When I answered the door, though, there was a younger guy, Jerry. I asked him if there was anybody else coming, and he said yeah, the other guy is coming soon. I was a bit surprised because I had expected Mario to be there, like what I was told on the phone. I did mention it to Jerry, and Jerry said he'd call Mario. In the end, it was just Jerry and Tony, and they did everything they could to make sure that they had hit every spot that's on the report. Heat treatment is crazy, it's like being in a sauna for a long time! A week later, we are still in the clear! All in all, I'd recommend Active Pest Control to anyone who's looking for an alternative treatment for termites that doesn't use harmful chemicals. The one thing I regret? Not asking them to remove a wasp nest that's on the same side of the house that they had treated :( read more

I had an issue with "love bug" infestation due to some trees nearby so Ray comes by every month to make sure they don't come back with a spray that kills bugs and creates a barrier around my house.
