We told her we would pay for the repair out of pocket. She took it to Jackson's Auto Body and the cost was $1700 to repaint the bumper. This is a hugely inflated price compared to the average cost of repainting a bumper in Salem. Maybe they took advantage of her because they knew someone else was paying? It was an extremely low impact incident, one car going 5 miles an hour and the other standing still and they convinced her that among other things, they needed to go through a technical process to check the frame for distortion from the collision. Sounds like taking advantage of a woman customer who may not be as confident in dealing with a repair shop to me. You can get a much better deal in Salem by shopping around. Avoid this place and get quotes elsewhere!!! (Actually, I just double checked and the price was closer to $1800)

I told my insurance (allstate) that i was concerned that they would do more damage. They said the district manager will look after your car and everything will be great. The last photo is "everything great" and "watched over". So if you go here you WILL get more damage done than repairs. This was on hoyt st I got hit two times in the a day. So I had 2 repairs at the same time. Before i went my driver window worked. After it didn't work. (They tried to say preexisting) I had pictures of it working AT the accident, they also made my key not work in the door. And i had rear damage. They didn't do the back bumper correctly. It wiggled and was soft. When I inspected it more they forgot a shock exorbitant in the bumper. I went back and the general manager said my 2014 car was so new nissan says it's not needed anymore. So my car is so old the window wont work but so new they are changing things? I went to nissan of salem to check. There have been no changes to the bumper and it's a safety thing. So I was lied to about the safety of my car. This was lewis st. This all happened in a 2 month period.

Gerber is contracted with my insurance company so I was worried to come without vetting my own shop. Unfortunately, we have been in a few fender benders in the last few years so have had to utilize their services quite a few times. Each time the experience was extremely positive! I found Gerber to be responsive, professional, and reasonable! Now, I would choose to come here even if it cost more because their work is amazing. Each time our vehicle came back looking like new, and communication was excellent throughout the process. Don't let the bad reviews stress you out! Thanks Gerber :)

I keep my car…read moreIMMACULATE and it has never been in an accident, so I was crushed when someone turned into me. When I reported the accident, I asked my insurance agency about recommendations of who other policyholders were using in the area for body work and Gerber was one that was mentioned. The accident happened on a Sunday, but my car was still driveable so I went in on Monday. When I arrived, the parking was challenging as their space on Broadway is small, but I took it as a good sign that they were busy with all kinds of cars in all kinds of conditions around. One of the account reps greeted me and took a walk around my car with me to see all the damage. They looked at it from all angles and were very thorough. We had a good conversation (note that this is your opportunity to ask questions and point out things YOU see also). I waited while they immediately prepared an estimate. The wait for the estimate wasn't too long and they gave it to me to review. Once my questions were answered, they noted that I would need to get it approved by my insurance adjuster. They immediately sent it to the adjuster, and I called right away and was able to set up a rental car and leave my car at Gerber for them to begin finding parts and working on my car. I was so pleased with the progress that was made in just that one day. Just know that you, as the insured, have responsibilities that Gerber does not, but Gerber will let you know what you need to do. If you do it, you should have no problems with the progress of the car and the work to be done. My car was done in 12 days. As you may have surmised, I'm SUPER picky. I was worried that because I have a rather rare factory paint color (dark Olive metallic) I was worried that it wouldn't match. To my surprise it was PERFECT. The account rep in the beginning, when walking the car, said they had a really good paint department and that it was a challenging color, but talked about how they match paint and build layers. I was skeptical, but it was not necessary. It is truly an absolutely PERFECT paint match. I can't tell between the old and new paint. The damage was to my right front fender and passenger door. So not small areas, and with the rest of the car not being damaged, you would have noticed if the paint was 'off' even one little bit. Lastly, the passenger door was unable to open as the fender was pushed in and behind it. I asked them to make sure the door didn't squeak at all and was in perfect shape (as it had been before the accident). It turned out the door was not damaged, but when I picked up the car and looked it over before taking possession (they ask you to do that), I noticed the edge of the door was about a 1/6-1/8 of an inch below the edge of the new fender (yes, I'm picky and notice the most minute details that are 'off'). I went in and the office manager went back with me to see it and he said absolutely no problem to fix that. I did have to make another appointment, but they had it fixed in about 15 minutes. I was nervous about the fix as it was SO minor and everything looked so good that I didn't want to screw things up. But I knew it would have bothered me forever if I hadn't gotten it done. They did an EXCELLENT job. It now lines up evenly with the fender, just like before the accident. I highly recommend Gerber Collision. They were personable and professional and helpful in an extremely stressful time. They listened to my concerns and answered the innumerable questions I had, and weren't upset with my 'preciseness':). Plus, they ACTUALLY gave me my car back in pre-loss condition - which was my primary goal!
