I wish I could describe Brent in some way nicer than a condescending, angry man with the need to make himself feel like he's above women. But I can't. This car shop put me through hell and it is absolutely Brent's fault. Looking at this from exclusively a legal standpoint, the shop violated the contract they hold with State Farm. They had my car parked on their lot for TWO MONTHS, and did not do much more than lie. They pushed back the completion date several times but finally, I believed it would be ready because they had told me so. I returned my rental car the day before it was supposed to be fixed. When I got a text - not even a call, and the text did not have any explanation as to WHY my car which was "just one more step" away from being fixed - I was frustrated. So I called them. And this is when Brent began to remember my phone number and name, because he told me it would be ready no later than 1 week after the phone call. It wasn't. And when I called upset about that, asking for the truth about when it would be fixed, Brent thought he should be condescending and pay for a rental car instead. He seemed incredulous I didn't have a rental car but of course I returned it when I thought I wouldn't need it anymore. I'm here to tell you my car is still not fixed to this day, and will never be. After 2 months of lying about "just X part" "it just needs to be painted" "well now we need another part," they resubmitted a new estimate to SF which they are not authorized to do. This action totaled my car, 2 months after the day of the incident. When I returned to get my belongings out of the vehicle, it was FILTHY inside and out! They had ripped the doors off and let dust, bugs, dirt, and random parts/tools accumulate inside that car for two months. That car looked in worse shape than I left it. Photos below show that scene. After speaking with several other people in Salem, this is not the first time they've extorted, demeaned, or been sneaky to customers. Salem's own Enterprise Rent-A-Car knows Brent by name because he has personally screwed over or been condescending to several of the employees there. State Farm asked me to physically look at the car in person based on 1. their belief the shop had not truly started the repair yet and 2. everyone's knowledge that the shop had lied so many times to agents and me that they would not tell the truth if we asked. When my sister showed up to look at the car, Brent apparently thought she was me because he didn't waste a second before telling her she should be grateful for all the crap he's out her through. For the record, men aren't allowed to tell me what I "should" or should not do. Brent also threatened my sister with the notion that she legally wasn't allowed to take the car away from the junk yard lot it was parked in because "it was in his possession." Y'all, Brent didn't go to law school and it shows. That's literally not how that works. This shop will hide behind lie after lie and blame everything under the sun - the pandemic, staffing issues, supply chain issues - before they take accountability for shoddy repair jobs and abysmal customer service. I wish I had done more research into them before taking my car there. I hope the fight you picked trying try to fuel your tiny, tiny ego was worth it, Brent. :) read more

I was in a pretty bad accident that completely damaged the side of my car & wheel. I just got it back and it is like new. It drives perfect & the body work is beautiful. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone I know. I brought my car in here a couple months ago to get my front bumper replaced. When I took it in, they had it for 3 days before even contacting me to tell me there is extra damage from another accident that had happened to my car. They seemed to get upset when I told them I wasn't made of money and I couldn't afford to pay for it. After lots of convincing, they finally put my bumper back on but in the shittiest way you could imagine. My bumper ended up falling off on my way home (not even 10 miles) and my wheels wells were not attached correctly, causing them to get caught and melted all over my new tires. It could have been very dangerous, so I'm glad I was driving slow. Not to mention, when I got my car back it looked like they had rubbed dirt on one side of car and there was dirty footprints all over inside my car including ON THE DASH. When I went in the next morning they did agree to buy me a new plastic piece for my wheel wells, but the owner was VERY rude. AND it took 2 months for them to ACTUALLY order them (after calling them multiple times a day asking). When I did get them, they tried charging me for them, but eventually finally gave them to me. (They are clearly from a junk yard). I went in with my dad and he was talking to us as if we were his children: "let me educate you." I had to walk away or else there would have been physical conformation. I have talked to 4 other people so far who have said this place screwed them over, pretty disappointing but I'm glad I know now. They had my car for a week and did nothing but f*** it up. Save your time, money, and a million headaches.. Do not go to Hyacinth Collision Center. I have posted it in all my car groups and I will continue to post it. read more

This is a great shop. I've had to bring my car here twice and both times they have done a thorough job with the utmost professionalism. Brent is super nice and conscientious. His main goal is making sure my family and I had a safe car. He went above and beyond to ensure that things went smoothly for me during the repair and even after when I had a couple or operator errors--he showed me what I was doing wrong. He's always been willing to "check it out" even after the claim is closed and the insurance has already paid out the claim. Avoid at all costs. If I could give negative five stars I would. They are in house for Progressive so unless you have that insurance company likely your car will not to be done on time. I brought my car in for an estimate. After I got clearance from the insurance company they ordered the parts. I was given a date of a month out to bring the car in since it would take that long to get them. I dropped my car off on a Monday expecting my car that Friday. No calls on Friday. No calls the following Monday. I finally called on Tuesday and was told a lamp was not ordered since the damage wasn't seen till they took the bumper off. They were going to call me back later that day no one did. Next day I call. I was given a different story. This time about the wrong part coming in so they were expecting the correct part on the shipment that day I'm going to get a call back. Again no calls. I wait all Thursday no one calls me. I personally come in today. At this point, they've now had my car for two weeks. I demand to see the paper trail as I don't believe them. I can see my car with a bumper off. The owner rubbed me the wrong way. I regret using the shop. He insults me by telling me he's going to bump my car up in front of two other cars. This is after they've already had my car a week longer and he's doing me a "favor". Please wipe your excuse up your ass. Do not use them. read more

My teenager rear ended someone in my car this last October. It was towed to Hyacinth after Progressive recommended them. They said that if I brought it to a place on their "list" the work would be guaranteed forever (or something like that). It is now four days before Christmas and I just got the car back yesterday from the second collision repair shop. It had to be completely redone after Hyacinth finished with it. Here is a list things I noticed right off when I picked up my car from Hyacinth: *Estimated completion date was a week off. I understand that the completion date is an estimate, and would expect that date to change if something like unforeseen additional repairs were found. In my case it seemed to be that they didn't know how to put the bulbs into the headlight assemblies of my car. The delay was made especially frustrating and inconvenient by the fact that I had to call each afternoon to see if my car would be done that day, and was told every time I called that possibly it would be done later that afternoon. It wasn't. Day after day after day, it wasn't. *Not one of the seams between the doors, front fenders, bumper/grill and hood were flush or evenly spaced. Not a single one. *There were fresh chips in the paint of the hood and fenders. *The cowl piece below the windshield was not snug against the car or hood, it was loose/wiggly and discolored. *The passenger side wiper was sitting on the cowl and and hitting the side post of the car when running. *The plastic parts that the side mirrors are attached to were also discolored in the same way as the cowl. (over-spray?) *They cut through the back of the new HID headlight assembly to install the bulbs. I knew this because they told me they did it. This was quite concerning since the slightest bit of moisture will cause major issues in the very hot HID headlights. *The car exterior was dirty when I picked it up. *The Inside of the car smelled like chemicals and there was garbage on the floor in front of the passenger seat and mud on the floor in front of the driver's seat. *The windshield washer fluid tank was left empty. I took the car to Si's Auto Body in NE Portland. (Totally worth the drive...check them out before going anywhere else...they have 40 5-star reviews - no kidding, 40!) In addition to the items that I listed above here are additional things that Si's found were either fixed incorrectly, or not fixed at all: *The frame was not squared and had to be moved/adjusted/measured/squared.. *Both fog lights were broken. *The cover for the relay switches was missing. *The new bumper was a cheap, non-OEM replacement. *The license plate surround was broken and replaceable as part of the accident damage. *There were bolts that were stripped and others that were missing altogether. *There was a brace that had a bolt hole that had been filed to be larger so that it could be connected. It wouldn't match up because the frame was not square, so I guess that is how they "fixed" it. It would of been a new part. It had to be replaced. *The fender that they had painted was so full dirt and mess that Si's had to replace it. The insurance adjustor said that in the end they were going back to Hyacinth for over $4,000 of the approximately $5,000 that they had paid them. The second repair shop ended up doing an additional $4,000 worth of repair. Bottom line, Brent at Hyacinth either has no idea how to properly repair a car, or is unethical, or both, which is what I suspect. Their work ranged from lazy, to negligent, to shoddy, to downright horrible. I don't think they deserve to even get a single star. There should be a 'WARNING WARNING DO NOT GO HERE' option in Yelp. Having a car accident is stressful enough. This place ended up making our accident fifty-times worse. Bad, bad, bad place! read more

I live in the SF Bay Area and took a road trip up to Portland to visit some old friends. I made it as far as Salem before I was rear ended by an F-250 heading northbound on 5. My insurer recommended Hyacinth Collision Centre and I could not be happier with their work or the level of service they provided me. The shop owner, Brent, was extremely professional and responsive and kept me involved every step of the way during my repair. He even gave me his cell phone number and offered to open up his shop on a Saturday for me to pick up my vehicle. Beyond that, the repair work they provided (which was guaranteed) turned out flawless. My rear end was in pretty bad shape when I left it in their hands and after they were done with it, it looked and functioned good as new. The most impressive aspect of all this to me is that Brent offered such a wonderful customer experience, knowing full-well that I was from out of town and would probably never be a returning customer. Don't let the appearance on the outside or previous reviews fool you. This shop provides too quality work, paired with customer service that you rarely find with any repair shop.
