Once I left home without closing my door securely , they called me and I didn't notice it and they sent a security guard to my home . I went home after about half an hour I saw a guard checking around my home and he stayed with me until I went inside and checked everything is fine and he left. Very trust worthy service . read more

If you're considering a plan with ACS, here's what you need to know: 1) If you are part of a "sign-up drive" in your neighborhood, you will see patrol cars day and night. This is obviously a way of showing strength on your street. From experience however, the patrols end when the membership drive ends. I certainly can't attest to witnessing every patrol, but since I work from home, I notice just about every car that drives down our block. In my personal experience, I witnessed patrols at least 3x/day during the sign up drive (approximately 1 month), to seeing the patrols decline to 1x/week after. 7 years later, I barely see 1 patrol car/month. 2) Read the contracts carefully! The initial contract term is 5 years. This locks you in to 5 years of payments even if you decide to cancel. ACS outsources all payment processing and collection to a third party, "The Alarm Center." A simple Google search will show many heartbroken customers who were forced to pay thousands of dollars to end their contract before the 5 year term. ACS defers all questions to The Alarm Center and you hae zero recourse as they strictly enforce the contract and payment terms. Read all the Yelp reviews carefully and you'll see a similar pattern If ACS sales rep. made any promises regarding the installation, pricing, or anything else - make sure it's in the contract!! (read what happened to other reviewers who were given verbal promises not documented in the contract) Negotiate! Especially if you have an existing alarm company. Refuse to sign unless they stipulate a shorter-term ( 1 year if you have an existing alarm, 2 years if they are giving you a system for free) AND make sure to change the contract terms by crossing out the 5 year term. Change the auto-renewal term as well. The existing contract compels you to multi-year automatic renewals. Make sure the renewals are changed to 1 year terms. There's no reason you should be forced to renew for multiple years except for them to gouge you for cancellation fees. 3) Monthly price is totally negotiable. I've compared prices with neighbors. Monthly fees range from $50/month to well over $100/month for the same service level and features. Unfortunately, it's the elderly who told me they were paying the highest monthly fees. 4) Their service is professional and helpful. If your system develops a problem, they take care of it quickly, but you will pay for it. Make sure they give you the master programming code and technical manual so you can take care of small changes yourself (changing/adding passcodes, etc). Changing the battery is easy - you can buy them online and swap them out in 5 minutes or less. 5) I agree with the other reviewers (homeowner execs) that the level of ACS' professionalism was much higher - but that was in 2011 when they wrote the reviews. Companies change. Keep in mind ACS targets Homeowners Associations as part of their recruitment efforts. It's in the best interest of homeowner associations - and their executives - to promote ACS to their members. Alarm companies offer additional security perks to association leaders (free systems, lower subscription prices, etc) in exchange for getting their members to sign up. It's highly probable they have an extra incentive to recommend ACS to you. 6) If you only need alarm monitoring, cheaper services exist. If you want "armed response" in the west LA area, ACS is a reasonable choice if you follow the guidance above. Your best time to ensure you get a reasonable deal, is BEFORE you sign the contract. Our home was already wired for ACS service but the hardware hadn't been updated in quite some time. I called ACS and was put in touch with Rick Navarro to discuss what our options would be. I let him know that I was just interested in pricing and had other projects around the house that would take priority over this upgrade and he was totally accommodating. He provided a quote that was reasonable but I just wasn't ready to start this work. Fast forward about 8 months and I reached back out to Rick and he immediately responded letting me know he would honor the original quote and could get an installer out ASAP to begin the work. I agreed and ACS's installer Tony was out about a week later upgrading our system with the latest and greatest. Everything went smoothly during install but the next day one of the glass break detectors went offline and was causing a beeping from the panels every few minutes. I texted Rick (he is super responsive) and he had Tony out the next day to replace the sensor and get the system back up. I'm not here to say that everyone needs a security system or they stop crime from happening but for me this system gives some additional piece of mind and working with Rick and Tony has been incredibly easy and both have been very responsive. If you happen to be looking at security monitoring companies I think giving ACS and Rick specifically a call is a good option. read more

Do Not sign up for this service. I have had ACS for 2 years. I have tripped the alarm accidentally a few times and they either don't call you at all or call you more than 20 minutes later. By then, the robbers will be gone. I even called them back and said, " why didn't you call me?". They give some lame excuse like, " our system does not show your alarm ever went off." Recently, I was on vacation in Mexico and my alarm went off. All my neighbors started calling my cell phone to tell me my alarm was blaring. I felt helpless because I could not check the house. There was a neighborhood party of all my neighbors in front of my house in their pajamas trying to catch a burglar at 10pm. My next door neighbor said ACS showed up 40 minutes later. I pay them $100/ month and extra for "armed patrol". I feel like ACS is robbing me more than any potential burglars. I called to complain about their delayed response and tried to cancel service. They were rude, never apologized, and said we could not cancel because we were in a 3-year contract. I was told the manager would call me back but he never did. When we first signed up, we would see their cars drive by our house 2-3 times a day... Now we are lucky if they come by once a week. Sometimes I see their patrol car parked next to the golf course and the guard is just sleeping in his car! Outrageous! read more

I personally have met with this company, contracted them for a small neighborhood in Sherman Oaks and seen them perform. I looked at the places they already have dedicated patrol and neighbors say crime is down. Patrol is a perfect deterrent to crime. ACS has home alarm systems and they offer armed dedicated patrol. Each time I have called the operator answered on the first ring and the patrol showed up in minutes. Sadly the police department is not growing with the density of LA and so Neighborhoods must hire private armed patrol for their needs. I can't say enough about how amazing they have been to work with. ACS is also dedicated to disaster prevention and assistance in partnership with local community associations and will work with customers to upgrade inherited and inadequate security systems. The people they hire are well vetted and trained and will help you with mail and newspapers when you are on vacation. They have two basic services; Monitoring of alarms and armed patrol. They are licensed for both and can do either. They make no attempt to be the cheapest, just the best at a good value. That is why I have given them 5 stars. I am stingy with these stars. read more

I was extremely disappointed that Raphael tried to sell me a two year term when we already have an existing Honeywell system and 90% of the necessary hardware. We never had a term with our current alarm company. Because we paid for the hardware up front. It's kind of ridiculous that they are trying to get customers to commit to a 2 year term. If the service is actually good (which I've heard it might be) customers will stay. And when they all they have to do is come by the house for an hour to check the panel this sales pitch of a mandatory term seems lazy and predatory. And not very consumer friendly. read more

They have been by several times trying to sell me in their protection racket. The salesman informed me that there had been a rash of burglaries in the neighborhood. He rambled on for an uncomfortable length of time. Finally, he left. I looked up police activity in my area and found there has been zero burglaries this month. 1 -The frequent sight of the yellow ACS suvs patrolling stopped as soon as ACS had signed up 45% of our neighborhood. 2 - We had an incident late one holiday night where we had a house sitter who set the alarm off. I got an 11:59 text that the alarm was going-off followed by a call from the house-sitter asking for help - I repeated the code to the house-sitter who entered it several more times. The house-sitter was entering the code incorrectly - I called ACS and requested help. Long story short - ACS first sent a patrol 'officer' who lacked the competence to access the panel control, disconnect the backup battery and reset the system. When ACS sent someone with the necessary skills and finally silenced the alarm, it was nearly 1am. I called later that day to complain - their response was that it was a holiday and they didn't have full staffing... ! 3 - Basic alarm monitoring is competent (aside from the above) and ACS does respond immediately when the alarm is accidentally tripped. ACS was also willing nad able to update our system to a more modern system without issue - something that ADT was completely uninterested in doing. 4- As others have noted, the contract is particularly onerous. I will ask an attorney to review it. At this point, I will not renew it. read more

The ADT nightmare is over-ACS not only fulfills the necessary alarm and security needs, they over compensate because they know former ADT customers are badly damaged already-just from the relationship. I had one of the guys who is constantly in the neighborhood, and, here the entire block has switched to ACS due to our proximity to the freeways, and the ease this neighborhood allows for the average to deft criminal types-we have had over 100 incidents within 1 square mile in the last 30 days. This was so troubling, nights became days, sleepless and overly concerning. Unfortunately....this company does a poor job overall. 1. Been paying for armed patrol who is supposed to be driving by my house daily...I've have learned they've not driven by in months. When I tell them to cancel the patrol....they tell me it will take a month to process. BS....now I'm paying for yet another month and not getting anything for it. 2. There's been a constant beeping from a key pad...walking us up at night....after 3 requests...no one has called back or come to fix it. Their sales rep said the cost of their monitoring + patrol service is $90 / month. What they did not tell me, and it is only in fine print on the back of the contract, is that I am locked into a 2-year contract without any ability to cancel. If I cancel, I have to pay the entire remaining amount -- $90 for each month all the way up to 2 years. I would be ok with this if you were transparent and clarified this upfront. But you did not. So beware, you're not signing up for $90 / month, you're signing up to give this company 24 months x $90 = $2160. The moment you sign up you are agreeing to pay them that amount and there's no way out. read more

My experience with ACS began when a very cocky salesman named Durwin, came to our home to provide an estimate. The intended meeting regarding our needs assessment was second to him focusing on the sleeves of his arms to make sure his muscles stood out. He proceeded to tell us about all of the things he himself has done and does personally and professionally regarding safety. He proceeded to belittle ADT as we were looking to make a switch by disregarding putting down their services and telling us our money is as good as wasted. When asked why ACS was better, his response was better service. One shocking comment made was him saying that people price comparing was not an important part of making a decision, and that their clientele is dominantly based in Beverly Hills and Bel Air as well as covering surrounding areas. Durwin also made a comment that they do not want the business of people not wanting to pay the premium for services. Professionalism? None whatsoever. In his pitch, he promoted armed patrol (with his personal stories to validate reasoning) and emphasized how well our area of Sherman Oaks is covered compared to ADT's service. We subscribed to the patrol service for a variety of reasons yet never seeing a patrol vehicle in the area, only parked at a local gas station with several other ACS vehicles. When I called to follow up, the response from ACS was that the response time in our area was the fastest due to where we are located. The neighbors on our street that also have ACS have either never seen an ACS vehicle on our street or have cancelled it for lack of value. We were advised to do random testing to make sure our services were transmitting properly and upon doing so, never once received a call from ACS to follow up on the alarm. Customer service- I have called in numerous times to speak with someone regarding our account and reached voicemails several times, whether calling in or being transferred. I also attempted to cancel the patrol service months ago as it proved to be ineffective (despite the growing number of crimes in our immediate area) yet have been charged every month. When I first spoke with the billing department, I asked what the issue was told there was a change in ownership and some records were not correct. ***updated after reading previous reviews*** Phone messages were never returned timely if at all. I called months ago to cancel guard service yet am still being charged for it. The billing department tells me that they have no record of me doing so. PLEASE READ ALL REVIEWS, INCLUDING GOOGLE. Decided to try ACS because the house we bought already had their system and they gave us a 3 month credit. Also a former owner told us they monitored the neighborhood well and responded quickly to calls. After over a year, that hasn't been our experience. First, our alarm went off twice for no reason, and when I called they told us it was a problem in our neighborhood. We had ADT for 14 years in our old house and that never happened. Second, twice when I called ACS for non-emergencies (one was a billing question), they wound up sending a couple guys to our house who thought there was an emergency, which was bizarre. The first time, it took them about 30 minutes to arrive, longer than what they promise. The 2nd time I don't know when they arrived because they called me from outside our front gate 20-30 min after I made the billing call to ACS. They told me they'd been standing out there for 20 minutes trying to figure out if someone was in our house. You can't see much of our house from the gate, and I have no idea how they thought they were helpful watching a corner of our house from a distance. They didn't call the police, they didn't call us - they just stood there waiting. Not protective. Third, we've been trying to cancel our service and every time I call I'm transferred to a phone where I only get a voice mail message. Fourth, I have seen one ACS truck, one time, monitoring the neighborhood in well over a year. Maybe they were around a few years ago when they were selling people in our area, but they are never around now. Finally, they are significantly more expensive than other companies I've talked to. We just want a security company that will respond responsibly and quickly if we ever need to call them. ACS has proven they're not reliable for that. Interestingly when we replaced their system, they didn't even call to say their equipment was being tampered with. The guy took the unit out of the wall and removed all the sensors, and ACS didn't call. I asked about it and the guy who replaced it said there was nothing that would notify them of tampering. Not exactly protective. We wasted a lot of money with them. read more
