Came here for a work dinner as a recommendation but was underwhelmed. The inside has a Mediterranean vibe with what looks like a beautiful bar but the options for drinks weren't the best. The sangrias and margaritas for the buy one get one were premade and wine choices were limited. The food was just ok. I got the Acropolis seafood with rice. It was just a few, very small pieces of seafood with veggies as a filler. The service was hit or miss. At times attentive and others it took a while to get back to the table. This place is so pretty. From the outside and the whole vibe in Winthrop to the beautiful inside, it just feels good to be inside. Upon being seated you're served warm and freshly made pita with the most delicious and smooth tzatziki for dipping. Sooo good! We started with the calamari which was perfectly lightly battered and seasoned lightly, and cooked so well it wasn't chewy, had the slight crisp to it, and was served with a slightly battered and fried banana pepper and a few carrot sticks as well. Absolutely delicious. Every time. My daughter had the Acropolis seafood with rice. Sautéed shrimp, mussels, scallops, mushrooms, red onions and bell peppers with Acropolis signature roasted red pepper sauce over rice or penne pasta. Topped with shaved parmesan cheese She's incredibly hard to please and she loved her food. She said the rice was the perfect choice over the pasta as it was lighter for her and so much food she couldn't finish. Very well seasoned and full of flavor. I had the Chicken Rhodes. Premium grilled chicken breast in a manatari sauce, sautéed with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, spinach and olives. Topped with crumbled feta cheese and served with orzo and roasted vegetables. It was DELICIOUS. The chicken was cooked well, but the FLAVORS were a party in my mouth! The roasted vegetables were the best I've had anywhere. Perfectly cooked and the seasoning and flavor was out of this world! I would go just to order the veggies they were that amazing! Brussels, zucchini, squash, and peppers. Fire!! Star of the plate! I demolished them first. The chicken was smothered in delicious toppings! The artichokes, Kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes, feta, the sauce, everything was incredibly lip smacking delicious. The orzo was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of flavor to be subtle with the well seasoned veggies and complimented the dish perfectly. We all love Acropolis - delicious and fresh Greek food. So for work meeting we ordered a catering of Gyros, Greek salad, and potato salad. We have never tried the catering and honestly I was a bit disappointed. We ordered for 12 people and got one tray of Chicken and Lamb gyros, guess we were expecting large gyros or even just the pitas so we can our own. Instead we got 1/2 of gyros. The good news it was fresh and tasty. Heads up if ordering catering, the tray says it feeds 10 people but in actually it would feed 5-6 people. The Greek and potato salad were great side dishes. The Greek dressing was amazing! I could have drank that up. Overall the food was delicious and fresh. It is still one of my favorite Greek restaurant - if you're ever in the Riverview area, near Winthrop plaza, this restaurant can be found in a plaza. The building decor is rustic tables, Greek music playing and vibrant accents throughout making you feel you're in a Greek island. I haven't been here in years but am always in Winthrop center smelling the delicious aroma coming from here, so the other night I was really craving a gyro so I ordered 2 via Uber Eats since they were bogo. I also ordered some fries and the roasted veggies. The fries were amaazzzinnggg, even delivered. THe gyro looked nice but I was already annoyed that I had to pay extra for tzaziki sauce which is what it's supposed to come with, mind you not extra sauce just sauce, they offered several different kinds. The bread was warm and good. The meat was not as much as it used to be but still a decent portion and tasty. Nice red sliced tomatoes and I skipped the onion. The amount of sauce that was on there was paltry and not sure why it was on the gyro in take out, it should have been separate. I did not have the ingredients to make more sauce so I whipped up a sour cream dill sauce that hit the mark because def not enough tzaziki. Now the roasted veggies, I was excited for because greek spices make plain veggies magical, well this was not the case, the veggies were just awful and mushy and no flavor, it was like they were boiled to death, very, very disappointed. Inedible. Fortunately the rest was good and I got 2 meals for a decent deal. And now I know how to make a good creamy dill sauce for it. FYI Blue cheese it too overpowering for the meat. read more

We have been coming to Acropolis for 15 years, first in Ybor and now Riverview. I have always ordered the Acropolis Salad with blackened chicken. Just left there and had the same delicious meal. Me and my friends are big fans of Acropolis so having a location in our neighborhood is perfect. We visited here for lunch two Fridays in a row and then the following week for dinner Saturday. One lunch encounter we found a hair in our food and received a mere $5 off. The manager on duty was very nonchalant and dismissive about the inconvenience so we were not surprised by her meager compensation. She treated us poorly, based on what we're used to here. We paid, tipped even and did not cause a scene at all. For our dinner visit, the place was very busy! We waited for our table at the bar and ordered drinks. After about 15 mins our table was ready but our drinks were promised to be delivered to table. Waited at the table another 20 mins before anyone acknowledged us. Our waiter went check on the drinks we ordered 30 mins ago and returned with 1 of 2 drinks, no interaction, dropped them and left. I went to the bar to speak with the original bartender who apologized profusely and blamed the manager. It took almost an hour to get drinks. Food came out slow and service was just bad! Same manager from lunch had a mean demeanor that seems to only be directed at certain populations/groups. The place was extremely busy so she also was doing a lot, in fairness. But she was well aware of our drink dilemma and continually checked on tables near us, apologizing for their wait, but never checked on us. The server, who also took over leadership responsibilities at the end of the night, acknowledged that the dinner service was not up to par and profusely apologized. We did not ask for any compensation but he knew we were disappointed. He insisted on compensating our check according to the inconvenience this time. We are grateful. Ultimately, expect slow and horrible dinner service here. Food is always great, when there's no hair. Please have someone adjust the manager's attitude with equality in mind! read more

There's Acropolis fans and then there's me a foodie. The atmosphere is nice, nothing to boast about. The service is par and the food is OK but nothing to rave about. On my most recent visit, I had shrimp, mussels, and fried calamari. I wasn't pleased at all and felt as though the kitchen was simply serving leftovers. Was there on 6/23/2025, for happy hour, great prices, the redheaded bartender was great, I got falafel, appetizer and combination appetizer with hummus, baba ghanoush, tzatziki, and something else, I could not taste the food, the food taste tasted like garlic and spices, the chef must be old and lost all his taste, so he needs to put all this garlic and spices to make the food tasty for him, why do you put so much spices and garlic,? unbelievable, next time I get there I will get the salad and some protein and I will let you know how that is. read more

If you authentic Greek food, then this is the place. The food here is excellent from the appetizers, salads and entrees. The sangria's are 2 for 1 and I hear are delicious. My friend and I had the gyro platter which comes with two gyros, but they give you so much meat it's actually about 4 gyros. It comes with fries and a salad. My wife also had the gyro platter but she had chicken instead of beef with lamb. Take note this is an additional $2. Our other friend the Greek salad with lamb and she said it was also delicious. My wife and her had the peach sangria, which they said were delicious. We received so much food that we all had to-go containers full of food. My only issue today was the customer service, I stood at the hostess stand for approximately 10-15 minutes waiting to be greeted even though the restaurant was not full at all and there were plenty of employees walking right past me. It wasn't until another couple came into the restaurant that I was finally greeted and sat at a table. The other thing was three tables that was sat after us, were greeted by their sever and they had drinks and appetizers before we were greeted. Disappointed and Misled I took my mother and two children here for lunch yesterday. My mom and I ordered from what was clearly labeled the lunch section of the menu, and my kids ordered from the children's menu. When the bill came, I almost paid it without looking--but something told me to double-check. I'm glad I did. I immediately noticed that the prices on the bill didn't match what was on the menu. Our simple lunch somehow totaled $76!! I brought this to the attention of the woman I believe is the manager or owner. She told me they don't offer a lunch menu, despite the fact that we ordered directly from it. She then pointed to a small line of fine print on the bottom of the menu saying the prices listed reflect a cash discount!--something that is not made clear or reflected in the listed prices. The price for using a credit card is different and not reflected on the menu! It all felt very misleading. If I had known there was no actual lunch pricing or that I'd be hit with hidden charges, we would have gone elsewhere. The food and service were average at best--not remotely worth what we paid. I was expecting to spend maybe half of what we were charged. Bottom line: Be cautious. Hidden fees and misleading pricing make this place a hard pass for me. read more

This is for the one in Riverview ONLY. They brought out the wrong food. I ordered chicken and they gave me pork. Manager argues telling me it was chicken! Well if it was, which it was not, it was dark meat even thought the menu said WHITE MEAT! After his arguing with me. I said I'm good, I don't want anything. Well he charged me for a salad which I did not even eat because there was a fly in it. First time customer and I will be back. I was hesitant because I am a somewhat picky eater and wasn't sure this place was for me. First time here. First they bring out pita and Greek yogurt with olive oil. Delicious and a great start. Next we got calamari and octopus. Calamari was very lightly breaded and had nice seasoning. Not greasy at all. The marinara sauce was nice and sweet. The octopus had to be one of the best I ever had. Was so tender fell apart in your mouth. It also had the right amount of char to it. Located in a cluster of stores and restaurants in the fringe of Brandon, the restaurant has a small outdoor patio dining and an indoor dining area that has roughly 20 four tops. There is a nice bar that seats about 10 just as you enter. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The place is decorated nicely and in a casual, yet elegant way. Service - Excellent! This was our first time and our server was very helpful in her review of the menu and recommendations. She was very attentive and pleasant. Food - Excellent. We shared their appetizer sampler (hummus, tirosalata, tzatziki, and baba ghanouj) and it was delicious! As an entree, I had the Pastitsio (basically a Greek version of lasagna). The sauce was very good, pasta was cooked perfectly, and there was ample ground beef. It was great. Overall Value - Excellent! A 5 star review from me is a very rare occurrence. They have really good Greek food, so far I've tasted the baba ganoush & the hummus. I most recently had an order of hummus for almost $9 and I don't think they give you enough for that price. I was still very hungry after eating it. The baba ganoush here is fantastic, I highly recommend it. I wish I knew about the sampler before ordering the hummus, but again, everything was still delicious, I just felt like they should have included more food for the price. The aesthetic in this place is wonderful, but the food and service are just okay. I was really surprised that the food wasn't better based on the price and the great reviews I read. Their salad was really good, but others in my party said their food was meh. Their wraps were nothing to write home about. Their meat can be dry and you have to pay extra for a side. The wraps don't come with a side which I found to be a little bit of a rip off. Our cards weren't working and it took forever for the manager to come over. We finally called the waiter over and told him to try manually punching in the numbers (which of course worked). He was apologetic, but at that point we had been waiting over 20 minutes to leave which was a little frustrating (on top of not loving our meals). Having frequented Acropolis Taverna in Wesley Chapel & South Tampa, I am pleased to have recently moved to a neighborhood very close to their Riverview location. It is the perfect place for a low key dinner or a beautiful Saturday/Sunday brunch experience. We came on Sunday afternoon for a few drinks and it is so chilled, a little slice of tranquility. Our server was really great. She seemed to be taking care of pretty much the entire outside section, but still managed to be extremely efficient and accommodating. The bathrooms are very clean. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and spacious (great for big gatherings). Will be back! read more

This place is the best Greek restaurant I have found. Everything is great they start you out with pits and a white dipping sauce that is heavy on the garlic. This stuff is so good. You can eat it with a spoon if you run out of pita. I also got the sample platter advertiser which had a few different types of dips like hummus and baba ganoush. This was great. For my main dish I got the shawarma wrap. This was the only thing that wasn't amazing. It was okay but needed a little more. Something to it kicked up the flavor.
