When it comes to audio/video, I typically am a DIY'er. This job was going to be a little out of my ability to do. So I called Acoustical Vision and Paul called me back right away. We scheduled installing a 32 inch television that weekend, on Sunday. Not many places will work on Sunday! The installation was a little tricky, but Paul's experience showed as he creatively ran power and cable lines through a mechanical closet to get to where they had to be. I [stupidly] bought a Denon receiver that got great reviews for performance but really horrible reviews in terms of ease of installation. After several frustrating days in hell trying to figure it out myself, I finally gave up and started searching online for Chicago-area home theatre installation guys. We emailed several persons about mounting our flat-screen television, and Paul was the first to respond. Paul and his very nice assistant were professional and careful with our apartment (laying down cardboard and paint cloths to protect our flooring), and did a fantasic job mounting our television (finally, no wires!). We had a great experience with Paul and his employee Sam. They showed up for a free consultation and we discussed several different options for mounting two TVs and concealing all the associated cables. We discussed the pros and cons of each and once we reviewed the estimate and made a decision we booked an appointment without hassle. Paul and Sam showed up late morning and worked until late evening (~9pm) with a small break for lunch. The final bill was almost exact to the estimate. They were very professional, cleaned up after themselves, and made sure all devices were working properly before they left. They are even coming back at no charge to finish up one small area. I had Paul and Conner come at 6:00AM this morning and they were waiting out front right on time. Paul answered the phone each time I needed to call and confirm and discuss the specifics of my TV installation. We moved out of the old place and into my new place all within 3-4 hours. This review is long overdue. In Jan 2015, I purchased a 65" Samsung with mount. While attempting a DIY install, quickly discovered my drill wasn't powerful enough to secure the mounting screws. After searching yelp, requesting and accepting the quote via email. Paul was at my home to complete the install the next day. Their price was also the best of 3 quotes The guys were on-time, very professional, cleaned-up as needed and also offered to hide my A/V cables as described by others. But since I am in the middle of several other rehab projects involving low and high voltage work - I wasn't ready. Paul and Jim were great. We had two big TV's (42" Plasma and 55" LCD) that were being hung on different sides of the same wall. Nothing about our situation was normal, but they made it work! They even went out of their way to hook up one of our surround sound speakers so that it looked GOOD, not like it didn't belong in its spot. They have flexible hours, are extremely friendly, and VERY thourough! Our unusual job took nearly 9 hours, but not once did they stop smiling. I had Paul install my new LED TV with surround sound and all the other bells and whistles that go with it, including a universal remote to run everything, and relocate my "old" LCD and cable box to the master bedroom. I bought most of the products from Paul. Everything he recommended turned out great. The speakers sound great, the receiver does everything with ease, the sub is great as well as the iPod dock, bluray and universal remote. And the best part is the price. I checked everything online and all his prices were at well below what you would pay anywhere else! He had to run wires, relocate wires and electrical outlets and modify my component cabinet to fit everything. All was done with care and finished like it was original construction. Paul just completed installing a whole house AV system for me, and I am very pleased. I quoted the job with three AV guys and went with Paul, I am very happy that I did. He mounted 5 plasmas throughout the house, two surround sound systems, outdoor speakers and a AV rack in the basement. The cool thing about the system is that at each TV location there is nothing but the TV, all the components are hidden in the rack in the basement. Paul and Pedro came out to install a TV in our bedroom, which involved new mounting, fishing HDMI/ethernet wires, and installing/moving an electrical outlet. Paul was very open to any preference or feedback I had during the process, and Pedro (who did all the electrical) could not have been a more competent or nicer guy. They ran into a couple snags within the walls, needed longer cables than originally anticipated, but rolled with it as needed and still honored the original price quote. I was skeptical when they said they would leave everything in 'paint ready' condition when done; however, that did turn out to be the case. I just painted over the couple of wall holes they had made and patched up, and you sure enough you can't even tell now where they were. Paul was very responsive to my initial call as I was in need of moving my cable wires from outside of our brick condo building to the inside. I called on a Sat and we scheduled our consult for that Sun. When we scheduled the date and time to do the work Paul and his rep Connor were on time and got to work immediately. The job was successfully done in a very clean and neat manner and they not only moved our cable wires from the outside of the building inside but we're able to run the living room TV wires through the wall with minimal patching required. I had Paul out to give me an estimate on two projects...1) mounting a 42in flat screen in one room and 2) replacing a HUGE 70in old Sony rear projection behemoth in another room. He was great in laying out all the options for me along with price estimates. After getting quotes from a couple other companies, I decided to go with Paul as I liked his vision and attitude. As far as the finished product, let's just say I was VERY satisfied. The 42in mounting was done quickly and perfectly. The larger project required the construction of a false wall in order to mount my new 75in HD TV. Paul and Connor did such a great job in building it including trim and staining. It looks AWESOME! The wall itself is impressive enough but of course the mounting of the very large TV was no small task. All in all, I think these guys did a fantastic job and would choose them again. I contacted Paul at Acoustical Vision based upon a Craigslist add I found that listed many references and had several photos of previous work that they had done. Paul spent a great deal of time on the phone with me to discuss the different options we had for mounting my TV and for setting up home theater speakers. Later in the week after I called him, he came out to my condo for an initial consultation to take a look at my living room and to further discuss the different available options. On the day we scheduled for them to perform the installation, Paul and another guy came over to mount an 52" Samsung LCD TV on my living room wall above my fireplace and to install a center channel speaker in the ceiling. The ceiling speaker sounds and looks great, and the TV installation looks very professional. They were able to run the wires from the back of the TV through the wall so that there are no exposed wires, which makes everything look very tidy. They also patched up holes in the wall that remained from a previous speaker installation. Their pricing seemed to compare favorably with other vendors on Craigslist, and it ended up costing me much less than I expected to pay to have this work done. read more

I am normally very thorough and now I come back and read through the reviews I can see these were written by the business or friends. I've hired Acoustical Vision two times. First for mounting of a 53 inch TV in my condo and later, when I bought a home in the burbs, for a slew of work: -Mount 4 TVs: 63 inch plasma, 60 inc LED, 53 inch plasma and 38 inch LCD -Wire a basement theater and main floor TV area for surround sound -Convert several phone jacks to ethernet ports -Send internet signal to several rooms in my house -Furnish and program two universal remotes -Furnish me with a Pioneer amplifier and two subs In both cases Paul did good work at a reasonable rate and stayed within his quote. I contacted Acoustical Vision based on their ad on Craigslist and the positive reviews from Yelp. I couldn't be more pleased with the choice! Paul routed our cable through the wall, up over a door frame and patched his work neatly. He also moved an outlet up so that both the cable and electrical are hidden behind the TV. We now have our small bedroom flat screen mounted on an articulating arm that swings out so we can watch it from our bed. Two of the TVs worked well immediately and all three looked nice. There was some ongoing trouble with the most complicated installation.
