WHAT A DICKHEAD! OK, so I go in there because my tire has been getting flats frequently. Usually I patch this up, but the second time I got a flat I brought it in so they could find whatever it was I was missing. They replaced my inner tube with one that was much bigger than my previous tube, which I discovered on my third flat-- a week after I got the new tube. This tube was definitely bigger-- my boyfriend noticed the same thing. We couldn't find a hole so we just inflated it and worked it back onto the wheel-- it was much harder than it had been with the previous tube. We can't get it to go smoothly around the wheel, which was not a problem before. It goes flat again. The hole was hard to find so we submerged it in water-- then there was a pop and a brand new huge hole in the tube. We noticed the hole was along the seam and the seam looked very weak-- it was dotted with holes that hadn't gone all the way through. We patched it just in order to wheel the bike down to the shop, but it can't keep air for more than a few minutes because the patch will not hold a hole that big.
So I go down and explain the situation, and the dude starts arguing with me IMMEDIATELY. He tells me the tube is the right size before he's even taken it out of the tire. I was like, seriously, dude, it took me a good fifteen minutes to work the semi-inflated tube into the tire and when I did it looked like intestines there were so many folds-- he says I didn't put it in the right way. I'm like you know when your bike goes flat more than once within a week of getting a brand new tube, there's something wrong. He says I just have bad luck. He also told me my patch job was the reason it was flat. I told him I didn't mean it to be permanent as the hole looked too big to be patched. I pointed out the seams and he said there was nothing wrong with it. So I watch him as he puts the new tube on-- it's fucking smaller! The tube they gave me easily had a few inches leeway around the rim of the tire but the tube he put on fit perfectly. He like thrusts the tire at me, goes "Happy?" and walks away.
During the week my bike was out of commission I ran into other people who had frequent flats after getting them fixed at Ace.
My cousin doesn't even go there anymore because every time he does they make repairs he doesn't ask for (he doesn't have all the tools for the major fixes but he can do the minor ones and is very explicit about this whenever he goes in). and then charge him super high prices.
Not everyone that works there is an asshole but goddamn this is the worst experience I've ever had. Don't talk to your customers like they're fucking idiots and before they finish completing their sentences. I might be wrong but you need to give me a plausible explanation rather than just you're wrong, your patch is shitty, and you have bad luck.
In closing, FUCK YOU ACE WHEELWORKS! Or that dick who works there. read more
