This is for anyone who is considering any sort of business with this establishment. As you read through these reviews please don't disregard any of the bad reviews because I can promise you that they are all very accurate! It's been 4 years and I still cringe each time I have to drive by this business! We chose Ace to board our Ally for 3 days during Spring Break. I was very clear how important is was to keep a close eye on her to be sure she was eating and drinking. She was 18yrs old but still healthy. She just never did like to be left .(they never do) They were told she wasn't to play with any of the other dogs but still need to make sure she stayed Mobil throughout each day. Perfectly reasonable requests. Well, I called on day 2 and was told she was doing great and had just been up walking around and was eating. The thing I was most concerned about. We came home early enough on the 3rd day to pick her up. What we found was nothing close to the dog we had left. I'm sharing a pic of Ally when we dropped her off and pics of her 3 days later. She wasn't able to walk out. My husband had to carry her out. We took her straight to the Emergency Animal Hospital. They said she was dehydrated among several other issues. They kept her for 24hrs and gave her meds and fluids trying to save her life. They weren't able to save her. She developed sepsis. We were told if she had been given fluids right away when they realized she wasn't drinking she wouldn't have had to die in this terrible way. Same as other reviews I have read we were told that there would be a veterinarian on call if there were any issues. The staff could have even called my veterinarian and someone would have come. But, nothing was done and on top of that I KNOW I was lied to when I called to check on her. Yes, our baby was 18yrs old and things happen ( which is what someone said to me when I told them she had died) but, if Ally had been properly cared for she would not have been in the shape she was in when we picked her up. I can't emphasize enough not to use this business no matter the age of your furbaby!! It's not worth the risk! If I can keep even a few families from boarding their pets here, I will continue to share my story! Tying to post pics, but can't for some reason....

    Sandra is our groomer

It has taken me nearly a year to re-establish a new relationship and trust another groomer after the last place I worked with took on new owners and no longer cared about quality control. I have been through 4 groomers in the Plano/ Allen Texas area. I recommend Sandra, the groomer at Ace. She loves her job, she follows your instructions and my PapiPoo is excited to see her every time which is a sign in itself that my Sasha loves this place. Although my review is specifically about their grooming services, this is the cleanest and nicest boarding facilities I've ever seen. It has new kennels, outdoor pool, an inside play area and a very caring and accommodating staff. If I were to leave my Sasha anywhere I would feel totally confident that she would be taken care of at Ace. Again, all the dogs coming in are wagging their tails, they recognize and greet the staff like family and have no problem watching their parents go out the door.

**WARNING!!** Before You Trust The Mutt Puddle With Your Dog -- Read This First!!!…read more As a new customer, I recieved that red carpet treatment that makes you think you've finally found "the place." The lesson I learned this time is that the true character of a business isn't revealed when everything goes right. It's revealed when something goes wrong. My situation started with a grooming appointment. The Korean cut I requested wasn't what I received. However, that was not my biggest concern. A really bad grooming job grows back, and I could have easily laughed that off and moved on. What I couldn't overlook was that my tiny 5lb Maltese had a puncture wound (the size of a pencil tip eraser) under her chin and a belly covered in abrasions (guessing from hot clippers). When I got home and discovered the injuries, I emailed TMP immediately. I expected: concern for her well-being and a sincere effort to make things right. Instead, I got a lengthy email about "miscommunication" regarding the grooming. I got an apology. What I didn't get was the one thing I was looking for: genuine human concern for my injured dog. Accidents happen. A mistake and owning it does not automatically lose a customer. The solution was never complicated. A simple acknowledgment (regardless of how it happened). My tiny dog came home hurt and that mattered. A refund as a gesture of respect. Before writing this review, I posted this scenario online in a small dog group. I asked a few simple questions: Would you be upset by these injuries? Is "sorry for the miscommunication" enough? Should a refund be offered? Would you return? The majority of the people who responded to the survey are dog lovers, breeders, rescue shelter owners, show dog handlers, vets and professional groomers who unanimously agreed that they would be upset and that they would not return. Several professionals commented that while accidents can happen, transparency and accountability matter. One comment stood out above all the others: "When I read the salon's response, I don't see a groomer saying, 'I'm concerned about Tina.' I see a business saying, 'You can't prove this was us.'" That perfectly captured what I had been struggling to put into words for this review. David Vargas from TMP responded to that online post. Instead of empathy, there were disclaimers. Instead of a heartfelt attempt to make things right, there was a carefully crafted argument about why I shouldn't feel the way I do. He accused me of painting the business in a bad light. No. I simply described what happened and how it was handled. When your instinct is to defend your reputation instead of showing concern for an injured animal, the picture pretty much paints itself. This experience was extremely upsetting for my family, traumatic for our Tina, and I worry about her demeanor when I take her to a new groomer. She's such a tiny baby and to minimalize our situation has been heartbreaking. Our pets rely entirely on us to protect them and on the professionals caring for them to uphold the trust placed in their hands. For all animal lovers, that trust is sacred. One of the most concerning things I discovered after this experience was The Mutt Puddle's liability policy. Their policy (search for it online) states; that pet owners assume all responsibility when leaving their pets in the salon's care and that The Mutt Puddle and its staff will not be held responsible for injuries, deaths, medical bills, clipper burns, cuts, stress-related issues, or nearly any other problem that may arise during grooming. Reading this after my little girl was injured helped me understand why David Vargas response was defensive .. rather than showing (on a case by case basis) concern for my dog and respect for me as a valuable client. I understand that policies exist BUT they should protect everyone involved, not one sided AND they should never replace compassion, responsibility, and concern for an animal's well-being. New and existing customers should read their policies carefully and decide for themselves whether that reflects the kind of care they want for their pets. We've lost complete trust in The Mutt Puddle and will not go back. They have taught me the difference between customer service and reputation control. Good luck with that business model.

After waiting 6 weeks for my appointment to come, they asked the week of my appointment if it could be moved up from 1p.m. to 8:30 a.m. - sure thing I just moved my day around. My pup and I were excited to meet our new groomer, sadly didn't feel our groomer was too thrilled to meet us. We greeted her at our front door, groomer made a face at my dog barking and her first words were, "what are we doing with this one"....not a single greeting or cared to ask my dog's name. The groomer continued being condescending, I had to stop her and tell her, "it seems like you are having a bad day and you don't have to groom my dog, we can cancel". She quickly changed her attitude. What a disappointing first experience! My dog was able to get groomed. The cut was actually great. Definitely higher end of price point for a 10lb Maltipoo - $170 with tip. If you choose to book them, don't expect Shannon to express any joy when coming to pick up your pup. Sunday evening my son was out at Lake Lavon and saw a couple of stray labradoodles eating in the trash. So he brought them home and although we tried, the doodles had been loose in the brush and thickets around the lake for some time and their coats were full of burrs and sticker bushes. It was terrible. We tried to do the best cleaning we could so that at least the female doodle could eat again as the burrs were all around her mouth, but they were still in rough shape. Was planning on taking them to the Allen shelter Monday morning but they wouldn't take them as they were found outside city limits and said contact the county shelter. Unfortunately county shelter is closed on Mondays. I decided to get them a professional groom to clean them up properly but no one would see them on such short notice. A few told me that they could see them in a month even after I explained the situation. :( I called Bark and Purr and although they were closed for renovations, the owner Linda listened to the story about the doodles and told me to bring them immediately and she'll take care of them personally. And she did. Not only did they give them a shampoo and cleaning but also offered to let them stay in their kennels until we found the owners or could place them with the DFW doodle rescue as we have 2 pups and limited space. She then sent out the picture of the doodles to all her accounts and sure enough one of their customers knew the doodles' owners and contacted the owners and they were reunited. In the end not only did Bark and Purr Grooming go above and beyond what other groomers would do but also helped to reunite the doodles with their family just for the love of all animals. I couldn't have done it myself and I truly appreciated how much care Bark and Purr showed to these poor lost doodles. Highly recommend this business in every way I can. I will always be taking my muppets here from now on and tell everyone always use Bark and Purr. They truly care. Much love.
