Very helpful and friendly staff! Huge selection which is a plus. Also very convenient to were I live

I typically love this ACE, however, amidst a pandemic, masking has been minimal, and while physical distancing is enforced in line, it is not throughout the remainder of the store. No masks required for customers, and apparently not for employees either...though shirts and shoes are. Right now I'm more concerned about masks than either of those, frankly, as a frontline healthcare worker who wants to reduce community spread and keep people safe. For shame. I suppose I will need to find another location that values human life. #MaskUp read more

This is my neighborhood Ace and I will NEVER, EVER shop here again. I purchased something from Al's Ace Hardware on Sat. and it didn't work out, and I went to return it to this Ace. They told me they would not let me return it because I bought it at a different Ace Hardware. They are independently owned, and they only deal with the products they have sold. They weren't kidding! I was SO MAD! I was late to an appointment that was 5 min away, and I had to go back to Al's Ace Hardware on 29th and Alvernon, about a 20 min round trip to return the item. The staff as Al's on 29th were WONDERFUL. Told me they have no problem on returns from other stores. As a customer is it really my responsiblity to understand the corporate policies before shopping at a store? Is it my responsbility to know that an Ace Hardware is independantly owned? I will NEVER give this independantly owed Ace Hardware a penny of my money because they have no respect for me as a customer. read more

This is by far the best ace hardware store I have ever been to. especially in Tucson. this store has everything that you will need and more. my favorite here is the contact paper and contact chalk paper. I also love the kitchen section; there are a lot of unique kitchen items that you can't find anywhere else. I stay at the store for hours shopping around. I could every day. the people who work here are so lucky & the owner must be a genius! read more

Ace Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

Everything about this store says "MAN CAVE" , well, maybe except the foo foo knick knacks in the housewares section. Tools, even Craftsman, they've got them. Every conceivable fastener known in the western world, they've got them. Rope, hooks, chains, duct tape - you can never have enough of this stuff. Need to rewire the man cave, no problem - garage door openers, ceiling fans, cable for the surround sound system, light dimmers, kleig lights, motion detectors, yada, yada, yada. Want to fortify the man cave against those who would turn it into a sewing room? Lumber, concrete, barbed wire, security systems are in stock for immediate delivery. Need a self-contained nuclear plant for the man cave - well, no, that's probably the one thing they don't have. The bottom line is every known piece of anything is here to satisfy the MacGyver in you. And toys. Back to tools - power equipment of every kind. Little red wagons (though not cheap - nowadays you might need an auto loan to purchase one of these puppies - they cost over 100 bucks now) to pull your stuff in around the man cave. Camping gear, fishing gear, barbecues, paint sprayers, power washers - need I go on? And then there's the hobby shop. Every man cave needs model airplanes hanging from the ceilings, remote control helicopters and cars to keep the reflexes in tune, and model trains running around the room. Die cast models of muscle cars. Even the housewares section is useful. You need something to cook those beans in. Now for the ever present and abundant Helpful Hardware Men (and Women). They're everywhere. Roaming every aisle, waiting for you to ask a question. This is the only slightly annoying thing about Ace. I like to browse. Sometimes I just go into this place to stand in awe, needing nothing, only wanting to be inspired and dream of what could be, then, wham - "can I help you?" breaks the moment - 47 times within 3 minutes. Ace people! can I have some peace once in awhile when I enter your store without feeling like either I'm incapable of navigating the store on my own (though they should offer guided tours) or that I'm a potential shoplifter that needs constant monitoring. This is my only peeve, but not big enough to knock any stars off of my rating. No, it's not Home Depot for the shear size or selection. But if you need some advice or some weird thing for the man cave, they will more than likely have it where Home Depot won't. And besides, Home Depot doesn't sell model trains. read more

As an art teacher who has taught at the U of A, been certified at Pima CC, and now full time at a public school, with a masters degree, it's pretty insulting when three large men followed me around this hardware store. My father was a carpenter and I usually enjoy going to hardware stores. But I got in and out as fast as I could because of how I was treated. I also asked if there was a teacher discount and they said no. I will never go back to this location. read more

The "Ace Promise - Satisfaction Guaranteed" is a boldfaced lie. If you read it on the packaging, it does not say anything about a 30 day limit. It gives you the impression that it is unlimited. Kind of like the guarantee you get with L.L.Bean or Costco. The Ace Promise is only long enough for you to get really upset when the Ace Branded item you paid a lot for stops working and it's beyond the 30 days. Advice: Don't buy anything from Ace. read more

Disappointed today in ACE at the 22nd street location. We bought a hummingbird feeder three days ago and gave it as a gift. Found that it was defective and took it back without receipt or paperwork. We charged it with our ACE number. Although there was a shelf sticker where it was located there were no more like it so the cashier said there was nothing she could do. I've always touted this store as great. Lots of salespeople on the floor for help. Today was a let down. We bought a replacement and took the defective one home. read more

I step back in awe of this Ace! If it is on this planet, they will have it (and they might have a special secret section for some items not of this planet since this store is so huge)! The staff here is beyond helpful, beyond knowledgeable, and terrifyingly efficient. They know what they have in their inventory, they know where everything is and they know how to explain how to use it, assemble it, store it or repair it. The prices may be a tad more than the big box stores, but try finding someone to help you in one of those stores! read more

This Ace is at 22nd & Kolb. It is larger than most Ace stores and has 4 sections: Hardware, Paint & Garden, Housewares, & Hobby. Employees line the aisles, waiting to help you. Stations are manned. A helpful person waits to make a copy of your key and cut you a length of chain. At the paint station, a cheerful lady will match your paint to some other company's paint chip. Really. This Ace has everything, EVERYTHING, even rabbit ears and garden trolls, replacement gaskets for a moca, piano lamp light bulbs, and heating coils for the stove. Sometimes I wonder about the target demographic for their Housewares department. I mean, I'm pretty domestic, but the supplies in this section stray into homesteading/Amish territory. Still, I love to wander this section and think about pitting cherries and canning pickles. Should a rustic impulse strike, I'll know where to stock up on supplies. read more

This is an Ace mega-store. They have the widest selection of tools, hardware, cooking and grilling equipment of any Ace I've ever set foot in. All Ace Hardware stores that I've been in have very helpful, friendly staff, but the employees here seem particularly excited about working in this store. They brag about the fact that new products are coming in every week. That excitement is contagious. It's pretty hard to get out of there without breaking the bank. There is just so much to see. My last visit lasted almost 2 hours. It's a long drive for me, so if I go there, I'm going to make it worth it. I came away with a bag full of stuff, and a long wishlist for my next visit. If there is something you're looking for but having a hard time finding, give this Ace a try. Even if you don't find that specific thing, I guarantee you'll find something you just have to buy. read more

I love this store. Under one roof, I can find tools and supplies for my ongoing home repair, cooking utensils and plastic models. The prices are competitive. I can find an employee to help me find things. I can find fans in the winter. This came in handy when the air-conditioner stopped working. I enjoy shopping locally. I particularly enjoy it when the service is head and shoulders above the big box stores and when the local merchant carries stuff the big chain doesn't. read more

This is the biggest Ace I've ever seen. Wow. What a great selection and friendly staff.

Holy Crap! This place is huge... think a city block of hardware, paint, housewares, garden supplies, hobby accessories. Just about anything you can think of and, surely, stuff you would never think to find in a place with Ace Hardware on the sign. If you are driving by, stop in and check it out. You too will at some point utter - Holy Crap! read more

Holy Ace!!! This is by far the largest Ace store I have ever seen and spent hours walking through. I mean this place has it all. They even have one whole store devoted to Christmas!! The staff was incredibly friendly and accessible. I know where to go the next time I need light bulbs, mulch, paint, a toaster! You name it, Ace IS the Place! read more

This Ace rules. Someone told me once that it's the largest store West of the Mississippi River. I'm not sure if that's really true, but it sure feels like it. Today, I wandered in looking for a very specific screw for my bike shoe cleats and the nicest elderly employee saw the poor lost doe look on my face and swooped in and found what I was looking for in 30 seconds, no joke. He tested a nut on it to make sure it was the right diameter and then quickly counted out 20 of them for me and even filled out the little envelope, bless his heart. Even when I don't have a specific need for something I love to tag along with my fiance and while he gets the different nuts, bolts, PVC pipe or whatever, I sneak over to housewares and get lost among the kitchen gadgets and fun cookie cutters. There's even a resident kitty cat who likes to wander the aisles and sometimes you'll catch him napping on a shelf. Random, but their birdhouse and bird food collection is also quite impressive. I like to stock finch feeders on my porch and the food can get expensive and the feeders can be too elaborate- Ace has Nyjer food that is no frills and very affordable. It is difficult to browse/stare/ogle at the good sometimes because the employees can be a little too eager to help, and sometimes it gives me a "OMG, they think I'm trying to shoplift" complex, but I'd rather deal with that than to walk into a HUGE store and not get any help. Keep it up, large Ace, you're my favorite! read more

I love this joint! Every time I walk in I am greeted with a cheerful hello. Some of the guys know me and tease me sometimes. It is so nice to feel like it is my neighborhood store in this ever increasingly anonymous world. I always find what I need including supplies for my business (craft) and the staff are so knowledgeable. After several experiences where husband or I went to Lowe's or Home Depot and were underwhelmed to annoyed by the lack of selection and service, we now go to Ace 1st. The staff seem to actually get satisfaction from finding a solution to a problem. They are a little pricier but definitely worth it. read more

This is the best Ace west of the Mississippi. Been doing plumbing work in my house and not only do they sell all the stuff you need the personnel in the plumbing department all have past history working in the field. In other words they can comment on the idioms they sell. I tested them one day and asked for a 4-40 tap (odd ball tap, small as a pencil lead) and the guy said let me open the cabinet up and he handed me one. It was sitting next to the left handed drill bits. At work we nicked named this THE GOOD ACE. That should be on their sign out front. With this Ace around who needs HD. FYI: not all Aces are created equal. Got to go to 22&Kolb. Bike parking, I am still using the gas meter out front, can we get one? read more

"Ace is the Place".... I started going to Ace just because of the Hobby Shop section. But the more looked around the rest of the store I started finding those little things that I needed to make repairs or that one hard to find item to finish a project... I would gladly walk all around the store just to kill time because I just might find something new that I overlooked before... All the help there too has always been friendly and very helpful. read more

Second return trip to store was unnecessary and frustrating during an emergency water shut-off because the employee who assisted me on my first trip claimed an essential plumbing tool that I requested was not sold at this store. On the first trip, I bought an expensive U.S. made plumbing tool He answered that no other components for the use of this plumbing tool system were available for sale at this store. I bought what he had and went back to the emergency pipe repair job site to give it my best. But, the tool alone was not functioning well for this specific application. I made a second return trip back to this store to explore the acquisition of metal pieces to fabricate an improvised set up to efficiently use the plumbing tool that was purchased on the first trip. I have machine shop experience and can fabricate machine tools. The second employee on the second store visit quickly opens up the same locked glass case--from which less than 1/2-hour earlier the first employee had searched and found nothing--and hands me the actual U.S. made, in stock, $52+tax tool that I needed from the start! LOL! At the checkout counter, the $52+tax tool would not scan, an employee had to then ge paged, and I had stand there and wait even longer. Hahaha! read more

I love shopping at the 22/Kolb Ace Hardware store. Employees are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. My last visit to this store was to purchase engraved gifts for my sisters. They have a large selection of wooden crosses, plaques, frames ,cutting boards etc .Rick Rose was so patient and helpful with set up,choice of font. spacing etc. He is so proficient with the engraving machine finding the just right picture for my items.Thank you Rick my sisters loved the gifts. read more

Today I had an unfortunate and unusual encounter with an extremely unhelpful customer service employee! I reached up to touch the material of a round bungee chair and the chairs came toppling onto me, luckily only one chair fell off to the side of where I was standing & I was able to hold the stack of 4 chairs from falling on me... Matt casually came to assist with no regard for my dilemma, giving me the impression that I caused the chairs to tip off of the shelf! Not the case & Matt's remarks to me ... well are you going to buy one? No, I simply tapped the fabric to see how sturdy it was & didn't like the quality! He did carry 2 other chairs to the register for me. I was taken back that he offered no apology about my having to catch chairs from falling on me! Disappointed!!!! read more

If you need it, they have it, including helpful employees everywhere! I needed pariffin oil for an old lamp, 9mm CCI shot shells for snakes and a watch battery.. Check,Check and CHECK! I love this store! My wife often drags me into Michaels and Hobby lobby where there literally isn't ONE thing I'll ever need or want. I go to this ACE to restore the balance. The hobby store at the east end is awesome too! If they served food at this place I'd park an RV in the parking lot and live there. read more

I've been shopping at this Ace Hardware for more than twenty years and today the cashier gave me the absolute worst experience ever! I was ready to pay for my items and, as per the myriad and profuse signs, I got into line. While I was waiting I read the sign. When it was my turn and I saw a register open up. I waited several seconds for the customer to get out the door and I went to the register. The cashier was someone fairly new as I have not seen her before. She was taking some sort of break and ignored me for more than a couple of minutes. Then she came over to the register sans mask and told me that I was supposed to wait until I was called. I told her that that wasn't on the signs. In a very nasty tone of voice she said "Right there on that sign". I looked at the sign and turned it towards her and asked her to read it to me. She looked at that sign and then, again with the nasty voice, "well it's on that sign" pointing to the identical sign by the start of the line. I told her that that sign was identical to the one right in front of her face. She stormed over to the sign to prove me wrong. After seeing that I, the *customer*, was correct she tore the sign down and stormed back over to the register. Where she proceeded to tear down the first sign. A very nasty, hateful, and violent woman who has *NO* business being in a customer service position. Nor employed by any company who wants to keep customers. read more

I didn't know I needed an Ace hardware store in my life until I went into one!! Each time I have gone I've been pleasantly surprised. Today, though, I went in seeking advice, as well as finding something I told myself they weren't going to have. I was helped immediately and left feeling better than before! Stove top drip pans are in full stock and set an incredibly cheap price. Elsewhere was $30-$40. No thank you. The employees really seem to know their stuff. Will return again. Love it there. Even considering applying as a second job! read more

Best Ace in town hands down. The one on Pima is just as helpful, but doesn't have as large of a selection.

5 stars for making a problem right I needed a spare key for my car, so I called this ACE and they said they could cut/program a blank transponder key. I bought a blank key from Amazon and took it in. The lady in the key area told me the key did not have a transponder chip, so I needed to return it and get a blank key from carsandtruckremotes.com as they have always had good experiences with keys from there. I returned the key from Amazon and bought one from carsandtruckremotes.com. I brought it to ACE and they cut it to match my master key. I took the key out to my car and it wouldn't start. Doors worked, but just turned. I knew this meant it wasn't programmed, so I took it back in and was told I needed to contact carsandtruckremotes.com to get programming instructions (ACE initially told me I could just get a blank key with the chip and they would program it). I called carsandtruckremotes.com and they told me ACE needed to program it as I can't program it. I called ACE and they told me they can't program the key unless it was bought from them. Again, this is not what I was told initially. I called around to a few locksmiths in town and they couldn't program it either. So, now I have a worthless key I can't return because it's been cut. I called ACE again and spoke with Jerry (manager) and told him the situation. I told him I had no problem buying a key from them that will work, but I requested to be discounted the cost of the worthless key since I could not return it. He told me to bring it in and ask for James and he would make it right. I went back and James cut a new key from their inventory and we confirmed it works. He discounted the cost of the worthless key from the total and I was on my way. This is the type of customer service that keeps customers coming back. Problems happen, but the choice to make it right or not is what makes or breaks a customer. read more

Now this is the mac daddy of hardware stores. It is clean and very well organized. There is not a screw it the world that they don't have. This is the most overall well stocked man jungle I have ever been to. The best part is that one side is manly hardware stuff and the other side is house-ware girl stuff, so there is something of interest for both sex's equaling a harmonious trip together to the hardware store. I forgot to mention that the staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and much easier to find than in some stores. read more

Wonderful store...a true old fashioned general store with every possible item for home and garden that you or I could think of...even baby chicks most of the year. Staff is friendly and helpful. Ask for Rodney when looking for garden or chicken information. He is a master gardener and is a great resource. When you register and shop there regularly you get rewards cards (mostly for $5 off). The only problem is that these cards say they are for everything not listed as ineligible ... and there is a statement in tiny print on the back of the card that says the exceptions include "any other item that each participating store may designate." For a regular customer it is a deterrent to happy shopping with the idea of getting $5 off of, often, a cart full of items when the exception is only made clear at checkout. This has occurred twice and both times, feeling grumpy about this surprise, we just put everything back on the shelves and left. I think that this very successful store should drop the policy of unadvertised exceptions and honor all rewards sent out to members. We have actually been shopping at Ace less since these last two refusals. Generosity builds customer confidence and good will. Customer confidence and good will builds business. read more

I went to return a item that my father had bought for my mom and it didn't work but found another item that would work. I went to exchange the item and had my receipt but the Manager Vicki said I could not return the item because I did not have my dad debit card with me. She would not even just give me store credit. She was rude and not a people person at all. Don't know where customer service has gone these days. I will never ever return to this Ace Hardware. read more

This is one of the very few five star reviews I have ever written! Last year we bought our first home and it needs a LOT of work. Our neighborhood is right behind the Ace Hardware location on Kolb and 22nd and I find my self there darned near every day! This location is not only HUGE (maybe one of the largest in the country) but they have such a wide selection of stuff! I don't think I've ever left this location without finding exactly what I need. The store itself is responsible for some of my success...but the service is responsible for how quick and easy all my visits have been and how very pleased I always am with my purchases. When entering the store, there is usually a team member waiting at the door to assist you and make sure you get in and out quickly ! Also, they keep sending me these little $5 coupons. Unlike other places where you swipe a frequent shopper card or something of the sort, this place actually makes sure you GET THE SAVINGS!!! The other day I needed a remote for my television. I was ready to spend about $20 and when I spoke to the guy on the phone, he found me one for only $7.49 and he made sure it was ready for me at the register when I arrived!!!! What kind of hardware store does this???!!! I didn't even ask him to do it but he insisted! After I used my $5 coupon, my remote cost me less than $3 and I probably wasn't in the store for 5 while minutes!!! I'd love to continue writing about how much I love this place...but I actually have to get over there right now to pick something up!!! See you soon Ace!!! read more

Great store for just about everything. There's always someone on the floor who can help you.
