Extremely disappointed with Ace Hardware's return practices and, unfortunately, their…read morecustomer-service system afterward. I purchased a $209.99 kitchen faucet from the Madras Ace on 9/12/26. It is unused, I have the receipt, and the receipt expressly states "30 day return policy." NOWHERE does it say "original store only" or warn that another Ace may refuse the return because stores are independently owned. I first went to another Ace. They didn't carry the faucet, so they actually located an Ace that DID--the store at 15530 SE McLoughlin Blvd. This store carries the EXACT SAME PRODUCT. Manager Andre refused the return. I specifically asked him to at least scan the faucet and receipt to see whether their system would accept it. He refused even to try. What makes this more ridiculous is that I have previously purchased merchandise at the Madras Ace and successfully returned it at an Oregon City Ace. How exactly is a customer supposed to know which Ace locations will honor another Ace's return? If "30 day return policy" actually means "ONLY RETURNABLE TO THE INDEPENDENTLY OWNED STORE WHERE PURCHASED," SAY THAT BEFORE TAKING PEOPLE'S MONEY. Put it in BIG LETTERS at checkout. Print it directly next to "30 day return policy" on the receipt. For expensive purchases, require customers to acknowledge it before paying. There are plenty of simple ways to disclose a restriction this significant. I then attempted to contact Ace corporate. I filled out their complaint form, hit send, and watched it appear to be submitting for approximately FIVE MINUTES without receiving confirmation. I finally had to back out. I tried their "Chat With Us" option instead, only to discover it was a chatbot that was useless for resolving the issue. So now I've tried the store manager AND Ace's corporate customer-service channels and still don't have a resolution. This isn't just about a faucet. It's about transparency. Customers shop under the Ace Hardware name. They shouldn't have to understand Ace's internal ownership structure to figure out what the words "30 day return policy" actually mean. Disclose material return restrictions BEFORE the sale, not when a customer is standing at the counter trying to return a $209.99 unused product.
