I absolutely love Burns Feed Store. I bought my chicks there. I wanted 6, but was told there is a chance that one might be a rooster. I got 8 and 1 was a rooster. They are all so very healthy. At 12 weeks, I called the feed store to see if they might know of a place that takes roosters. Our rooster is docile, like the chickens because we held them all. He is also a beautiful Barnevelder, see photo. They said to have him at the store by 8 and they will put him out to be taken by someone else who wants him. I hope he goes for breeding and not food. He is beautiful and we love him. He was Cherry Blossom until he crowed. Now he is Jerry Blossom. Thank you Burns Feed for helping and being realistic about the possibility of a rooster. read more

Cute place. Very clean and very friendly. They have all sorts of things here for animals of all shape and sizes. Not only that, they have your gardening supplies as well! It's basically an one stop shop. Things there are reasonably priced. We particularly drove over here to get the alpha alpha hay cubes for our little fur baby. He loves it so much! I also like to browse around and look at all the cool things they sell. The other time I came here (during the summer months), they had little baby chickens for sell (super cute and healthy). However, they do not currently have any. I am not sure if it is because it's the winter months or because of Covid. I did not ask. We will be back when fur baby runs out of his goodies. i've gotten chicks here twice now, and i really like the store, but yesterday when I went to get chicks I had a bad experience. A lady working their (i think a lady) was handling the chicks so poorly it was hard to watch. She dangled the chicks by their feet and turned them upside down. I understand if a costumer wants the healthiest chick so you have to "test it" but we made it very clear we did not want her to do that but she handled every single one like it was some sort of product. From aggressively snatching the chicks up and squeezing their crops, and holding them by one foot 5 feet off the ground. Very sad. read more

I love love love this place. Everytime I drive by previously I was inexplicably drawn in. But alas every time I drove by they were closed. Ugh... it's not their hours is my terrible timing lol... Anyway I finally became domestic and bought a cherry tree, hanging pretty flowing plant and a lemon cypress for my house... no no not from Burns Feed. From a nursery who referred me to Burns in order to get the supplies I need to care for my plants yea! I got pine shavings for on top of my blueberries soil after adding ther blueberry acid mix suggested. Man are they growing well... they're tiny little plants and I've already picked a yield. So awesome!! I bought potting soil for the large pot that holds my lemon cypress. I bought additional soil for around my tree and fish fertilizer which came highly recommended. The team members were so extraordinarily helpful... I couldn't even believe how knowledgeable and helpful. Additionally the location is packed with awesome stuff to look at. Not all animals, plants and feed... tons of gift type things. Go visit. So cool!!! read more

I love checking out feed stores. Burns Feed Store is my new favorite feed store. Although they only had rabbits in stock. They do regularly receive new wildlife shipments. I would call ahead and ask about their return policies. You should be well aware of all the benefits and responsibilities of owning an animal. Your local government will have rules to follow in your county. For example. Multnomah County does NOT allow you to have a Rooster. Clackamas County WILL allow you to own 1 Rooster. Know your animals needs. Don't blame the store because your not sure what your buying or the return policy. Now as far as i'm concerned. Or my Wife. We love this store. They have it all. Toy animals for kids. Free pop corn. Meds for a horse. Fencing supplies. Ya. They have it. Lots of feed for just about every farm animal we have around here. I hope to live in this area some day and Burns Feed Store would be a bonus. read more

I bought a 40 lb bag of our regular dog food and the dogs wouldn't touch it. It seemed to have chemical smell - definitely different from the smell in container with the last batch. Of course I had trashed my recipe, but I took the new bag back anyway. The young man (Casey?) who helped me was awesome. He came out and grabbed the bag, agreed that it seemed to smell odd. A second bag from the same lot number (all they had) was the same, but he exchanged it for a different recipe, no questions asked. I took it home and the dogs devoured it. I love almost everything about Burns. It's a bit farther away than another feed store but I come here because it's such a great place. They take amazing care of their animals, which means a lot to me. They have a pretty good selection of most things. The one thing they are lacking is a good supply of first aid for livestock, I do have to go to the other feed store for that. Talk about a fabulous feed store! We get all our farm/livestock supplies here (we have llamas, goats and sheep). Family-owned and operated for many years, the Burns family is successful because their customer service is fantastic, and they carry everything that livestock/pet owners need. They've been in business since 1950 and their experience shows. They know what rural folks and pet owners need, and provide everything with reasonable prices. Need hay? Back your rig up to the loading dock, go inside and tell them what you need, pay for it, and the friendly workers will load it in for you. Need fencing? Bedding plants in the spring? Bird seed? Pet supplies? Baby chicks? Rabbits? Turkey chicks? They've got it all. I love going into the chick room and seeing all the fluffy babies. There's a good variety of different breeds. I can't say enough wonderful things about this store; when I go in, I'm treated with the utmost courtesy and prompt service no matter how busy they are. This place is great!! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We came here to get chicks, we are first timers so we needed a lot of help. The gale who helped us knew lots about chickens gave a list of what we would need, how to use everything and for how long. She said they even have a chicken expert on the weekends too. Animal shelter in Troutdale suggested Burns feed store for kitty litter (cedar pellets). I went there today for the pellets...very reasonable 40 lb bag only $5.50. The store was very clean and well-stocked; employees were friendly and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this store highly. read more

As an equestrian, I must say, Burns Feed Store is great! Yes, they have feed and whatnot, but they also have a surprisingly large section devoted to tack, treats, brushes, toys, tubs, feeders, blankets and *almost* anything else you'd want for your four-legged buddy! This place is well-stocked for horse lovers. On my last trip there, I couldn't turn down the price on the purple lunge whip (about $11, Weaver), stocked up on Uncle Jimmy's tasty toy-refill treats (they also have the Hanging Balls in stock, which are highly recommended by my Piggy Pegasus), and when I saw the price on the pink stall ball ($5 off), I had to get it. ADDED BONUS: Excellent service! Now that she has lost 400 lbs, I'm finally starting Piggy Pegasus on some grain, and they were so patient with me in their warehouse, going up and down and left and right on their forklift to look at the different info on the feed bags. No more running back and forth between Wilco and Coastal and winding up empty-handed for me! Burns Feed Store has what I need in stock, and pretty durn good prices!! This place is pretty nice but what I don't like is their policy when it comes to buying chicks from them. I bought some chicks in the spring that were supposed to be hens and one of them ended up being a rooster. When I called them and asked them if I can bring it in because I don't want to butcher it and and I can't have it because I live in the city they told me I have to wait till Saturday because that is the only day they take roosters in. So now I'm stuck with a rooster that is crowing every morning and will probably get me in trouble. Also when I was buying these I was concerned about the possibility of getting a rooster and ask them what their policy was, I was told I could bring it in and exchange it for another baby chick. I spoke to somebody on the phone and was told that I'm out of luck I can just drop off the rooster and that's it. If that's as good as the customer service gets, I can buy them cheaper on craigslist and get the same service. read more
