Carmichael location is best of the best. It was some days ago. But workers were very polite understandable and helpful.

Clearly, Ace Hardware needs to provide its employees with additional training to enhance their customer service skills, including unconscious bias training and gender sensitivity training. In today's society, women make up a significant portion of single homeowners and actively engage in household maintenance projects. I recently encountered an older gentleman employee(I incidentally am "older" too) who approached me to offer assistance. When I requested help finding a large metal clamp, he responded with "a clothespin?" I clarified that I needed a large clamp, to which he replied, "I don't know what you mean by clamp, do you mean like a clothespin?" At this point, I politely declined his assistance and proceeded to locate the clamp section myself. Within a minute, I found the spring clamps. The employee followed me and persisted in his inquiry, stating "oh, like a clamp like a clothespin." I felt that he had made an incorrect assumption about my needs based on my gender. A clothespin is a small wooden item used for holding up clothes, whereas a clamp is a distinct tool with a different function. I felt pigeonholed as a female customer seeking a household item, rather than being treated as a customer looking for a specific tool. This experience left a negative impression, and I may consider alternative stores for my future hardware needs. read more

I had to come here to get some keys made. We were going to wait in line to get someone to help us make some keys but an employee was walking by and we asked if he could make some keys. He said but of course. He was very friendly and we got to talking and we told him that we didn't want to get keys from Home Depot since they don't have very experienced people working there. He said this place is like family owned for many years and some people have been working for over 22 years. the service has always been decent but today I went to purchase a product that was on clearance that they had mislabeled. The store did not honor the price and according to California Business and Professions Code Section 12024.2, retailers are generally required to honor the advertised price, even if it was a mistake. Previously had a bad experience at this particular location. When I walked in I had planned to look for the product right away but decided to ask one of the store employees. I already knew this item was sold in their store since I've seen it before. When I asked the employee if it was in stock they replied saying they do not sell that item, which was a lie. The other employee repeated what the first employee said. Both gave me a stern and very cold look, and offered no other explanation. Since I knew it was an item that was sold in their store before, if it was not in stock they could've offered an alternative to order it for me or let me know to check back or check another store for me. Not only was this product sold at this store before but it was on their website as well. Their demeanor was unfriendly and off-putting. I felt like they did not want to help at all, and their tone of voice sounded rude. It was a bad energy for sure! Not sure if it was discriminatory since they have an all white staff. I don't want to accuse a business of discrimination but deep down that's what it felt like for some reason. I've been there a few times before and I always had that feeling. Also, not sure if they treat others this way but this kind of treatment will definitely make them lose business as they may have a bias in who they give better treatment to. First time visiting this ACE and probably my last. I live out of town and frequent this area often for several reasons. I've looked forward to supporting this local ACE just as I support the ACE in my neighborhood but after my less than decent interaction this past weekend I'll save myself the hassle in the future. I have no idea if this is a locally-owned hardware store, but it sure feels that way. The selection and service were both quality. It may not be Home Depot, the obvious comparison, but it is the kind of neighborhood hardware store where you can find pretty much anything you need. I came in seeking a bunch of odds and ends that had slowly accumulated on my "honey do" list: lightbulbs, bungee cords, some new sprinkler heads and some screws to fix an old table. The guy there was helpful in guiding me to the right screw/bolt combo. The aisles were neat and everything was easy to find. I didn't find the sprinkler head I needed, and unfortunately will have to go to the big box store for that one. All in all, I would consider coming here first, especially if you have some small, around the house project to take care of. I live 100 yards away from this store and have been coming here for almost 5 years now. I firmly believe in keeping my money in the neighborhood. I asked the older gentleman with the mustache about electrical wire. I had found half a role on the top shelf that was half gone and I took it to him and asked if the half roll was as priced or was it by the foot because it wasn't marked by the foot. He looked at me irritated and talked at me as if I was stupid in front of another customer, and as I was walking away, he mumbled something and they both laughed. As I was leaving, another gentleman asked me if he could help me and I said "No thank you. That asshole (and I pointed him out and looked right at him ) helped me enough." Home Depot is further down the road. They may not always have what I need and even ignore me at times, but they have never treated me like I was anything other than a welcome customer when I had a question. I needed help and the same young man came to help me, I asked him where was his face mask, he informed he doesn't wear one. I asked are you Vaccinated at least? He replied, Do I have to tell you? ... I would give this door zero stars if I could I cannot believe the way I was treated there tonight. I went to return some weatherstripping that Bought for my windows but it ended up being for my door and I couldn't use it. I recently purchased a home in the area and my mother suggested to me that I check out the ace hardware Since I normally go to Amy's hardware. Never again!! I was approached by some head up his ass kid on a power trip named Nate and he proceeded to tell me that I needed to leave unless I was going to buy something because I had been wandering around the store for too long.... Not to mention I had two rakes in my hand that I planned on purchasing and I was bent over by the plastic or rubber tubing and I was just getting ready to ask someone to cut me 18 inches of the rubber tubing so that I could fix my washing machine that was leaking. He basically told me that that's their store policy which confused me even more because your policy is to kick paying customers out Because they take too much time looking around. I was so shocked I opened my purse, showed them what I had in the bag but I was still treated like a thief. I recently got a house in the area, it's my first house and I've been having a lot of issues with it so I really didn't know what exactly I was looking for since Ive only been in the store one time prior but after today I will never go in there again. The power tripping customer service or non-customer service having ass minimum wage making employee named Nate Needs a review on customer service because he has no respect for anyone he thinks he's better than people and he even had the audacity to call me a tweakor when I was leaving. My mom tried to call the store after everything was said and done and ask for a supervisor and they told her there weren't any and she asked for a corporate number and again they told her there t wasn't one And she needs to call back and speak with a manager tomorrow. This Ace Hardware is conveniently located in a small shopping center which is right off of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Manzanita. First of all the thing that I like about this location is that it is located all the way in the corner of the shopping center away from the main traffic. So it makes parking very easy and if you had to load any large materials such as plywood, it makes parking your truck easier so you can load it right in. I basically came to this establishment to to look for some Metric screws and then Allen head bolt pattern. Although what I really wanted was a Torx head screw, but it seems to be very hard to find locally around the area. As soon as I got inside I was greeted by the cashier who immediately assisted me to help me find what I was looking for. Everything inside this location seems to be very well kept. The store itself seems to be clearly organized and that's why I like coming to Ace Hardware in the first place is that everything is organized in a way where you can easily find what you're looking for. I really appreciate the help that I received that day from the lady cashier and I ended up making my purchase. I will give this place a 5-star rating for great service and for convenience. read more
