I've been going to Miller's ACE Hardware for a few years now and generally I've had positive experiences. However, recently I've had conflicting information...last year I had them rekey my house key, no problem and cost around $7. This past Saturday, my wife was told they don't do rekeying by 3 "blonde" ladies working there and were a bit rude to her. She was sent to Home Depot and they took care of her rekeying needs. I've been frequenting this Ace hardware for the last year or so after realizing it was there (I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer). It's immediately a cozy and friendly place and the staff there are ALWAYS helpful. I usually have my two young children with me (NOT HELPFUL) and the store actually has stuff for them to do - presumably while I shop but I don't trust my gremlins at all so they just have to tag along with old dad. In any case - on numerous occasions I've visited the store and needed help/advice with a project and the staff are ALWAYS willing to talk to me. It's very helpful because I'm terrible at almost everything I undertake and take awhile to figure it out - and Miller's Ace Hardware and the staff are there to help me. I've gone in for PVC piping, electrical stuff (usually failure), light bulbs, and gardening stuff and it's always great. I just wish I didn't fail as often, but our house hasn't burned down yet so... you know... keep trying. read more

So, I'm house-sitting for my friend, and notice that one of her pantry shelves has collapsed. Thinking this will be an easy fix, I run to a popular hardware store to pick up some shelf pegs. Turns out, her shelf pegs are hard to find. After spending nearly an hour searching the competition, I was just about to give up hope, when one of their employees said: "I hate to send you somewhere else, but I'm pretty sure you'd be able to find that at Ace Hardware." When I walked into this Ace Hardware and showed the picture of the shelf peg I was looking for to the man behind the counter, he told me exactly where it was. When I misunderstood his directions and looked in the wrong location, he walked to the product, picked it off the shelf himself, and brought it to me. It was exactly what I was looking for. I could have saved so much time if I had just come here first. It was especially nice to have such a great customer service experience after having been disappointed elsewhere. As if that's not enough, they just happen to be right next door to one of my favorite bakeries in the Sacramento area. I would definitely shop here again. read more

It's wonderful to have another fantastic Ace Hardware but closer to home than any of the other Ace locations. And the clean parking lot doesn't seem like it'll ever get crazy busy with the nearby businesses. Little plaza is located in a pleasant part of Citrus Heights with super easy access, Madison Avenue next to Fair Oaks Blvd. Across the street from the green logo coffee chain, Fair Oaks Park and the Fair Oaks Public Library. They had what I needed tonight and had their traditional super nice staff as you'll always find at Ace Hardware. Great neighborhood hardware store! It's on the corner of Madison and Fair Oaks and easy to find/easy to park. It's brand new and very clean and organized. Huge BBQ section. Big paint section. They make keys also. Everyone in there was willing and eager to help us find the items we needed. Super friendly and kind. A nice addition to the neighborhood for sure. read more

This place is incredibly cozy and the staff are so polite and engaging and caring. I've never met such great people. I truly mean it when I give this place five stars. The bathroom was clean and had some difficulties with flushing and the air inside the store being slightly stuffy if you stay too long. We got the soil that we needed and looked at a few things that we may want, and then left. Oh I forgot to mention the Value that Yelp wanted me to share, the value was good for the product you get, the soil was several dollars less than its online listings except Amazon; I needed the soil asap so I'm fine with this. We got charged incorrectly for an item. We got PVC fittings and one piece was charged for $31.99. The item wasn't scanning or allowing for them to enter it in manually, but something "worked." However, when we got home and actually looked at the receipt, we noticed we were charged for a Hitch Pin Locking... I had to look up what that was. $31.99 doesn't seem like a lot, but it's still $31.99. I guess a $31.99 lesson. Lesson learned :( read more

Now I see why people shop at the big box stores. I purchased an item at Ace Hardware on El Camino. They had one item of the two that I needed. They did a stock check and they found that the only store that had the same item was Miller's Ace Hardware. So I took the drive to Miller's to pick up the second lightbulb. While there I discovered that they had a three pack of similar lightbulbs that were Wi-Fi capable. So I purchased the three pack. I went out to my car to get the original purchase and return that one to miller's. They had an entire stock of the same item. When the cashier started the transaction, he said if we don't have this item, I won't be able to take it back, and I told him there are three more on your shelf, I can go get them. His response was " yeah but if it's a different excuse, I'm not authorized to take it back". He scans the receipt and the SKU is invalid. He then calls for Assistance and he tells her the story as to why I'm returning it and that it's from a different Ace Hardware. she said well even if I take it back and it's a different SKU number I can only give you store credit to which I said it's the same item I just purchased at your other store. She said yes, but it has a different SKU number and I said I have a receipt for the purchase. I just made at Emigh's. She said that may be, but it's not the same item that we carry. So I left and will be returning to Emighs never too dark in Miller's door again. You try to give local business Your dollars only to get your hand smacked. Home Depot it is from now on. read more

Stopped by this Ace hardware because it is closer than any big box chain store, and I was hoping they had what I needed because it was not something common. Wow I was so surprised when I walked in, they had more than I expected. Staff was super friendly, greeted upon walking in, and greeted throughout the aisles. I was asked if I needed help, I showed them what I needed and they walked me right to it and gave me options. They also offered additional help and assistance. At checkout they offered to give me a discount if I signed up to be an Ace member, they made that process easy as well. I loved it so much that I came back 3 more times that same week! I love that this is in our neighborhood, I love that I do not have to go down to a big chain hardware store. Even big tool names like Milwaukee are here and for sometimes a better deal than other stores. Support local, support these guys its a great store. And the shopping center they are in is amazing with other great finds like Pizza, bakeries and ice cream! read more

06/13 visit - we were followed around the store even after we said we didn't need help. the item we wanted was rung up for almost double what it was listed on the shelf. older gentleman laughed and said it was in the wrong place and that wasn't the right tag. got home and realized the item was listed as the lower price online as well. went back a few days later and showed the staff the online price and the older lady working just shrugged at us. i will be going to lowe's from now on. This Ace Hardware is fabulous. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and ordered 30 bags of top soil and was asked if it could be delivered on Sunday the following day at 11 am - absolutely- and so it was completed, arrived on time, and bags nicely stacked. Guess what - no charge for delivery and wouldn't accept my tip for $40 but bring it in to the store for a charity donation. I asked about the flat tire on my hand truck, measurements taken, and a sku number was texted to me for ordering as well as delivery date - guess what - bring in my hand truck and tires will be replaced. NOW THAT IS SERVICE!!!! Now you know why I returned when about 8 months ago I ordered 30 bags of bark, then had to order another 15 bags since more was needed, and the experience was absolutely the same on all 3 occasions. Yes. This is my new hardware place! I've gone there a couple of times since their recent opening. Both times I was immediately approached by staff and greeted warmly. A few days ago I went there to buy what was for me a big-ticket item, a smoker grill. They helped me choose the right one and arranged to deliver it, assembled, to me the next day at no extra charge. On top of that they give a nice military/veteran discount. The owner, Jessica, is at the store and is deeply involved in the daily operations. This is a big change from some of the other stores where it's nearly impossible to find any staffers to help. This is what I'd call a "small box store", and it's really a neighborhood store ... a store that deserves our support. Five stars all the way! read more

Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks but it's not helpful to literally be followed around the store by multiple associates as if I'm going to steal because I took my time to make sure I bought the right product (before putting my items back and walking out without a purchase). Walk to one end of the store to stop being bothered and nope, walk to the complete other side of the store, same associate, same "need help finding something?" Every 2 minutes. If I needed help I would ask. I'm a clean cut person who is well dressed and showered and you suspect me of stealing? I will never step foot in this location again. Nothing against Ace as I know these are a franchise. Word of advice to the manager, tell your workers to stop hovering and staring at your customers after they've told them multiple times that there is no help needed, it's extremely uncomfortable. read more

Sunday morning September 22, 2024 at approximately 9:00 a.m. I (female senior citizen) went in to get wall plate screws and metal leaf rake that I didn't find at my trip to Home Depot. I was told at the door that I had to leave my backpack at the front of the store. I said my wallet was in it and I wasn't going to leave it. I was then told, "We'll watch it." Well, you know how that goes, we'll watch it until we don't watch it and I'm not about to leave my keys, wallet, credit cards, money, checkbook, medical supplies, etc. in the custody of someone I don't know. I said I wasn't going to leave it and that I'd leave and was told, "okay". So I walked out of the store and will never go back. There was maybe one other customer in the store and as a business owner perhaps the better thing to do would have been to ask what I needed and then have your employee show me where the two items were (and saved me the time having to look or ask where they were) that I wanted. I would have purchased the items and been very happy with the service and shopping experience. Unfortunately, this company just lost a customer. read more

It is a little further to drive but think of the difference between hunt and peck or self serve and having a person help you find what you need. I needed a washer for my bath tube diverted valve.
