Honestly, one of the best banh mi shops you can get outside of little Saigon in the OC. Located in Chino it's a bit of a trek for me but a whole lot shorter of a drive into the OC. It's a quaint little building located on the corner of an otherwise unassuming area. Inside it's decorated like a bright and cheery little cafe. I ordered the special, which has all the cold cuts stuffed into it and my daughter got the pork roll banh mi. The amount of meat they pack into the little baguette makes it a great value. They have an assortment of coffee drinks, I'm a traditionalist and got the normal Vietnamese iced coffee while my daughter got the Ube iced coffee. I have really high standards for a good banh mi (Banh Mi Oven in San Jose is my gold standard), and I've been looking for something close to that near Pomona. I wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, a few key elements missed the mark during my visit. A great banh mi lives and dies by the pâté and mayo. Here, the pâté tasted more like BBQ, and the mayo was super sweet, like old-school Southern sandwich spread--, which isn't what I'm used to for this style of sandwich. I ordered the combination banh mi and the chicken vermicelli bowl. The combination sandwich came on shredded lettuce (which I don't usually see) and completely lacked herbs like cilantro and pickled veggies. The vermicelli bowl was also missing pickled veggies, and the chicken looked a bit interesting, though the sauce that came with the bowl was cool. The bread itself was decent, though I think it would have been fire if it were toasted. Service-wise, they were out of the brown sugar boba, but the refund went through smoothly on my digital receipt. Honestly, I would have gladly waited a bit longer if it meant getting the traditional pickled veggies and herbs on my food. I don't know if I'd return, but if I do, I'll give the business some time to settle first. This is just my opinion based on one visit, so I hope others have a better experience. If you're a coffee lover, you have to try ACE Banh Mi! Just keep in mind that Vietnamese coffee is stronger than your average cup of coffee, but that's exactly why I love it. I'm a huge coffee person & this spot has easily earned a place in my top three favorite coffee spots. I ordered the banana coffee & it was absolutely delicious. The flavor was unique, well-balanced... executed really well. For food, I tried the Combination Banh Mi & it was solid. Fresh ingredients, good flavor & a satisfying sandwich overall. The customer service was also excellent. Friendly, welcoming & happy to answer questions. Another nice surprise was the seating area. There's an additional room where you can sit, relax & hang out. My only wish is that they opened at 7:45am instead of 8am so I could grab one of their amazing coffees on my way to work. Being across the street from my house I have really gotten to enjoy Ace Bahn Mi. The Ace Deluxe Bahn Mi is probably my favorite one. The mix of meats and flavors is so good! I was told by one of my friends to come try this place out! Finally a good banh mi sandwich around the area! It isn't in a strip mall, you will see it off a corner, and you will need to park on the street or I believe they have a bit of parking in the back. The inside looks clean and the workers were real friendly. There is a touch screen where you can order yourself. I ordered the Ace Deluxe and ordered the crispy pork belly. I had to make sure to order pate inside the pork. The sandwiches are quite large, are really good! They are about $9 a sandwich at the time of this review, and they also sell drinks and vermicelli. I'd say this is one of the best banh mi spots in the area. I usually get my bamh mi fix in SGV or OC, but it's finally nice to have a solid option in Chino. Keep in mind the service is a bit slow as it took a while for them to make two banh mis. It's also a little pricier than what I'm used to, but fortunately the sandwich was satisfying. The baguette was crunchy on the outside while still soft inside. There was plenty of meat, and was well balanced with the pate/ sauce. My go-to is BBQ pork and it was good! I'm used to banh mis having more pickled veggies (carrots and daikon), and this spot goes lighter on those. But their cucumber added a nice crunch and freshness that made up for the other lack of veggies. Overall a solid place that I would come back to! read more

I'm sorry to be leaving this review :( I was excited to see a banh mi spot open up in Chino and really wanted to like it, unfortunately fell short. First off, the bread appeared cold and stale as if it were day old. Did not have the satisfying crisp factor you get from a fresh baked baguette. I also look forward to pickled carrots and daikon in my banh mi, however they did not taste very good. Hardly even had any daikon either. And the pate tasted odd to me as well. They come with veggies, protein, noodles and a side of sauce that was not too sweet but just enough flavor to bring it all together. I was so excited to try the veggie lemongrass banh mi since I don't eat meat, and I already want another one! The combination of the sweet, savory, and crunchy flavors are so satisfying, and it's exactly what I was craving. I really want this place to succeed because we need a good bánh mì spot in Chino, but this was disappointing. A proper cold cut bánh mì should have a crispy, lightly toasted baguette, a good layer of pâté and mayo, a mix of Vietnamese cold cuts, pickled carrot and daikon, fresh cucumber, cilantro, and usually some jalapeños. It should also be seasoned lightly with soy sauce or Maggi and a bit of pepper for that extra depth. What I got was mostly hard, stale bread with very little filling. It wasn't toasted, there was barely any pâté or mayo, the meats were limited and not sliced right, and it was missing key elements like cucumber. There was no real balance of flavors or textures. I used to work at a bánh mì shop, so I know how good these sandwiches can be. There are quite a few tables to sit and enjoy your food at as well. This shop is probably like 5 minutes from my house, so of course I had to see if it was worth it. You can order on their kiosk or in person. They had a deal on the sandwiches of I buy 4 get 1 free, so each sandwich came out to a little over $7 instead of $9. I got one of each (except the veggie) to try. My son loved the meatball sandwich and almost finished a whole sandwich!! My father in law said the pork belly was dry... but I will have to try it for myself. I shredded chicken and grilled pork while tasty was a bit salty for me. My husband said he liked the cold cut sandwich. I would not say this is the best banh mi ever as it is hard to compete with some of the locations out in San Gabriel and OC which I go to every chance I get... but for around here, it is pretty good. The coffee, I must say was too sweet for me. I don't like my coffee sweet, but it did have good flavor. Would I go back? I would go back. My husband and son enjoyed their sandwiches and I personally would like to try the pork belly and cold cut myself. The cold cut did look like the best sandwich to me. read more

We stopped to try this new spot, they are in their soft opening. We ordered 2 crispy Pork vermicelli bowls, an order of pork spring rolls, a coconut coffee and a Vietnamese white coffee. When we got home I noticed one of the bowls was missing, so I called and spoke with Vu who was extremely nice and apologetic about the situation. He offered a refund or if I wanted to come in to pick up the missing bow he would compensate with a drink. He absolutely didn't have to do that but I really appreciated it! I picked up the bowl, and he recommended the passion fruit tea. The food itself was fresh and very delicious. The drinks were just as good! The inside is very clean, and has a few places to sit to eat if you choose to stay. I really hope this place gets a lot of support so they can stay open. I will absolutely be returning! read more

Parking here is honestly a hassle since you pretty much have to find street parking and hope for the best. I ordered the banh mi special which is $9 but it came out to $10 using the kiosk. 3rd time trying this place and it's honestly disappointing how fast the quality went downhill. During the soft opening, I ordered the pork belly banh mi and chicken bun, and both were so good that this immediately became my favorite banh mi spot. The pork belly was crispy, flavorful, and generous. Second visit was already a little off. I got the same pork belly banh mi, but the pork belly wasn't as crispy and the portion was noticeably smaller. Today was my 3rd visit and probably my last. I ordered the chicken bun and pork belly banh mi again. The chicken in the chicken bun smelled and tasted bad i had to throw it away. The pork belly was not crispy at all, tasted stale, and barely had any meat in it. I also got the shredded chicken banh mi and it had almost no flavor. On top of that, it was around 80 degrees outside and the inside of the restaurant felt like a sauna. Not sure if the AC was working, but thankfully the food came out quickly because it was unbearably hot inside. I would recommend the Banh mi since you can't find any in the area until you're in Glendora for Goldbanh. The rolls are not recommended here. Same lettuce as Jersey mikes sandwiches. As a Vietnamese yelp-er I can't agree with rolls that don't have any true greens. At least get butter lettuce. The peanut sauce is 6.5/10. The rolls themselves are 4/10. (5/10 being acceptable) Matcha coffee 8/10 The coffee is strong and taste like you would expect Vietnamese coffee. Their coffees are literally straight viet strength with your choice of the foam flavor. So expect high caffeine levels. 10/10 if you're looking for traditional Vietnamese coffee. 7.5/10 if you're looking for a flavorful sweet treat. Overall 7/10 and I recommend this place for sandwiches and strong coffee. Especially because they have no competition. The rolls gotta go.
