I had heard good things about this bakery. So one day, I walked in and purchased a cake and six doughnuts. All six doughnuts were stuffed into one paper bag. The bag fell over and one of the doughnuts fell out onto the counter. The bakery employee just picked up the bag and put the same doughnut back into the bag. The cake was just ok. Definitely not as good as people are saying. It had very little filling and not much taste. I have gotten better tasting cakes and at a much cheaper price from Jewel-Osco. read more

Fast, friendly service, truly lousy product. I got an oreo cake that tasted quite like incinerated plastic. We're not just talking cheap, frosting laden flour, but actually not enjoyable to eat. I won't go back. read more

Went to get some pastries with my family but no decaf coffee which was disappointing. Second choice was soda but the only thing they had was a soda machine which was sold out of water, Sierra mist, and orange crush. Not a good experience. read more

I have been to ace bakery about 2-3 seperate occasions. I loved the fact that it is free wi-fi and it's too bad that alot of traffic in this area does not take advantage of this great place. I order'd first a cupcake cake and the decorator did an amazing job, the second cake i order'd from them was a babyshower gift cake and again i could not be any happier, my recent cake order was beautiful and very memorable to myself and friends.I really feel the decorators here take passion in their cakes, I know I have found my new Bakery, I hope you take a chance and look them up...and try out at least a pastry i promise you will not be disappointed. i reccommend the red velvet..OMG!!! read more

I've had cake from Ace Bakeries before and it was good. So when I wanted my caramel cake fix, I went to Ace. Located in Bridgeport, it was close enough to go on my lunch break and make it back with time to spare. While I have been impressed in the past, this time was lackluster. Cake was dry, caramel was enjoyable but too sweet. They also don't make it like real caramel; it's more like regular frosting with caramel flavor. Good, but when you have a fix you want the real thing. My cake also tasted like the refrigerator. Wonder how long my cake has been there. My friend loved her red velvet cake and had no complaints which earned it an additional star. I'll stay away from them for my caramel cake, rather have Brown Sugar Bakery for that (never had any of the problems that others have had there). read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED with the employees AND CUSTOMER SERVICE! I went in to receive a quote for a cake on a Tuesday afternoon at 5pm, I showed the employee a picture of a cake in my phone. The lady proceeded to take my phone back to the baking area to get the quote from the head baker! I was very satisfied with the price but I didn't have an actual picture of the cake I wanted to order so I was told to bring a picture back in. I returned on Saturday afternoon with my picture in hand and to leave the deposit and was given a totally different price and non of the employees were aware of the employees that I talked to on the previous Tuesday! I will never return! read more

I went to Ace Bakery yesterday in search of the Painters cake that is advertised on Facebook. I walked in the door and was ignored immediately by an older lady behind the counter. I must have stood there for at least 10 minutes before she looked around and put her head back down, so I started to scan the almost empty dessert cases. An older gentleman emerged from the back with his coffee mug and just looked, poured his coffee and left the counter. Wow, really nobody will acknowledge a guest that's in your business? Eventually, a young lady wearing glasses emerged and asked what I was looking for? I showed her a picture of 231- for the artist cake. I didn't realize that the cake was Fondant and had to ask again for clarification!! I even asked if they could make something like it, but she was so dry with her responses and never acted like she wanted to help at all. she then took my phone with the picture on it to the back and came back and said no again. She said that even if they did it, it would be sloppy, but didn't offer any help on what would be a great fit for me period. I started to become frustrated with her attitude. I even asked to see a cake book, but she flipped through the pages herself and just didn't offer any kind of services to me in a very nonchalant manner. I stepped to the side trying to figure out what to do about a cake for Saturday 4/16/2016. As I move away the older lady starts to handle guest and by this time I was a distant memory and the young lady that was dealing with me never even looked in my direction ever again. I shook my head and just simply left the store. Then this morning I wake up to a very rude response from their face book business page, after I posted asking for an explanation as to "What happened to Ace Bakery?" The staff is unprofessional inside and out. I wouldn't so much as walk on the same side of the street as this bakery if I was in the area. Never again!!!!! read more

After receiving terrible customer service on 11/9/13, I will never conduct business with Ace Bakeries. I placed an order @ Ace on 3300 South Halsted for pickup on 11/9/13 @ 12 Noon for a children party starting at 2pm. My cake wasn't decorated, the sales associate lacked professionalism and offered no apologize for the delay. When requesting if they could deliver the cake, I was informed yes for a delivery fee. The cake was ready until 3pm and instead of offering to delivery for free, I still had to pay a delivery charge for their mistake. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ACE BAKERIES. read more

Horrible service! I always buy the same thing & I always pay different amounts how is this possible? They never have what I want at hand. .. how do you expect to sell if you don't make the product? Over priced. read more

I ordered a two tier cake to be delivered about 3 weeks in advance. I paid extra for a delivery charge. The cake was supposed to be delivered the venue at a certain. The cake was late. After it was about 30 mins late, I called the bakery and was told it's on the way and should be there soon. I'm not sure what their definition of soon is, but another 30 mins goes by. I call back and I am given the same response that it is on the way and should be there soon. After about 2 more phone calls, I find out the cake was never even picked up and was still at the bakery. The cake ended up arriving over 2 hours late to the event. The worst part was when I was calling to find out where the cake, they lied and said it was on the way when it was not. They just kept saying its on the way, and they were rude about it too. A couple days after the event, I called and left a message for the manager. I never received an apology, a credit on delivery not even a return phone call, . Nothing, no one even bothered to try and rectify the situation. read more

Ok this bakery came highly recommended by one of best friends so based upon her recommendation I decided to give them a call. I wanted to arrange a sampling of a few flavors of their cakes for my 50th birthday party. I was told they only did tastings for weddings and if I wanted to sample their goods I would have actually purchase a slice or a cupcake of anything I was interested in. I was not happy but again the place "highly" recommended so I briefly looked at some of the reviews and decided to go and check them out. Upon my arrival the only person working at the front of the store was on the telephone, no problem about the telephone, my problem was not being acknowledged. I know the women saw/heard us but not once did she look around to even acknowledge us. When she finally got off the phone about two minutes later she still did not greet us. I have a problem with poor customer service. I have worked in retail outlets in form or another for years and I know that customer service can make or break a business. I purchased a slice of one of the cake flavors I was intrested in and was particularly impressed, I asked for a basic flavor white cake they didn't have any. I asked about the designed I wanted I was told that person who could answer that question would be in tomorrow. Needless to say I probably will not return to this business. I was not made to feel as if my business was wanted or that they were interested in gaining me as a customer. I'm a easy going person not very demanding but I do expect a level of professionalism and common courtesy. Overall this was a waste of my very valuable gas and time. read more

Never place an order from here! I asked for a dozen jumbo-sized cupcakes, half chocolate and half white, with frosting and extra sprinkles. Not that complicated right? The lady I spoke to on the phone took my order and repeated it 3 times. When I came to pick them up the next morning, I was looking at a dozen REGULAR sized cupcakes with a small amount of sprinkles that were added last minute after the attendant noticed they were missing. The worst part was that when I asked if this was jumbo, she said yes and was in the process of getting charged the jumbo-cupcake price. It's a good thing I had the sense to look around and notice real jumbo-sized cupcake and pointed out the difference before the transaction went through. After that, she said that it would only be 99 cents a piece instead of $1.25. I had no choice but to take this order to where I was going. Throughout all of this, I was waiting for an apology..and never got one. read more

I only gave Ace 1 star because they would not let me give them 0 stars. This bakery messed up an important cake that was ordered. Basically I paid $300 for a cake that was completely wrong on the inside. Asked for chocolate cake got yellow cake asked for fresh strawberries got strawberry gel. Only thing that was right in this cake was the decorations. How would it be the consumers fault that the baker made a huge mistake and instead of the bakery owning up to the mistake they tell me if the cake was wrong I SHOULD HAVE WENT TO JEWELS AND BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE!!!! How and or why would I have to buy another one when $300 was paid to your business to make the cake. According to Ace a chocolate cake cost more so ok $130 for cake $170 for decor filling is free. So why would u only offer not even 1/2 the cost of the cake and a store credit. I will never order cake from Ace ever again and this is not the 1st time they've goofed on a cake that I've ordered . This was just an important even that needs to be addressed. Who tells there client if the cake wasn't right tell your guests they Cannot eat it and bring the whole cake back and theyll see what they can do . STILL NOT EVEN OFFERING THE COST OF THE CAKE BUT!!!! WE'LL SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO.0 Stars from me and my Family Ace has lost a long time customer read more
