    My new Theo glasses!

Both Dr, "Elda" and Sevag were extremely kind, professional and helpful! i got some amazing frames and the friendship they built with me in the process made me want to go back from now on when I need glasses! I looked locally for an independent provider of unusual eyeglass frames and with no previous knowledge of the company I made an appointment and the rest is history. What service! Competitive prices but nobody can outdo them with the service and friendliness! secure site in a busy area, easy to find, great parking right next to elevator, reserved for customers. Can't say enough good about them! Photos to follow.

I first went to AccessorEyes when both of my eyes were infected and I was due to drive 1,000 miles a few days later. Dr. Mehrabyan fit me in, was extremely thorough, knowledgeable, gentle, and even bent over backwards to make sure I could get what I needed at the pharmacy. I had total confidence in Dr. Mehrabyan so I went back for a regular eye exam. Again, she was extremely thorough and kind. Her husband helped me pick stylish and flattering glasses that would work with my complicated prescription. The atmosphere is delightful, and the two of them couldn't be nicer people. They really make what can be a nerve-wracking process so much more pleasant.

    Really unique frames

Dr. Elda is super nice. She gave me a thorough exam with high tech equipment and took the time to explain to me what the process is all about. She also has a very special collection of frames that are definitely unique. Lastly, you truly get what you pay for. If you want to be cheap with your eyes, go somewhere else, but if you want to invest in your eyes, Dr. Elda is the way to go.

During pre-op, they were careless and injured my eye, which caused me a lot of pain and to miss work for a week. When I asked Dr. Shammas to look at my eye because something was wrong, he told me to let him do his job and I should do mine. Then he told me that I had a "softness" on my eye and we would need to reschedule surgery. I was in so much pain that I had to go to urgent care the next day and then to see an ophthalmologist a couple days later, and was informed I had a corneal abrasion. To make matters worse, Dr. Shammas had put a contact lens in my eye to help it heal, but the lens was torn, further worsening the injury. I took Laser Eye Center to small claims court, but since I had signed an unfair agreement absolving them of all liability, the case was dismissed and I was unable to recover my out of pocket expenses. I would not recommend Laser Eye Center to anyone. They just take your money and do as many surgeries as they can in a day. Go see a real doctor instead.

No complaints about any of them. Dr Hou did my retina surgery and he's a very professional doctor. He clearly takes pride in his work. And he's very kind and likeable. Many docs would have berated me for not coming in to the office earlier--I should have (long story). But Dr Hou didn't and I appreciated that. I'll do my own flagellations, thank you. And he has a good sense of humor. My surgery didn't have the result I'd hoped for but that was not Dr Hou's fault. I certainly would trust him to do any future surgeries I might need. About waits: I've had about 20+ appointments in the last two years. Only once did I have to wait longer than half an hour. At my prior eye clinic (Pasadena Eye Specialists), the waits were nearly always much longer, 2 hours avg--sometimes 5+ hours!! That place was contemptuous of patients. I've never felt anything like that from the staff at Doheney. [See my review of Pas Eye Specialists for some juicy details!] I've seen about 20+ nurses/tech staff and they've been consistently very good. I've had a couple problems with nurses: One that coughed all over me w/out covering up. And another that...well, I'll just say I didn't like how she talked to me. I'm not a dog. But these were exceptions. The parking fee isn't great but I avoid it by having my ride drop me off outside the gate. The short walk is pleasant. It's a nice building and grounds. I think Doheney is a very good eye facility. I'd recommend it w/out reservations. Compared to my earlier experiences at the eye clinic in Pasadena, it's great!

I researched ICLs quite extensively before choosing to do this surgery because I wanted to make…read moresure I was informed, especially after reading of some cases that didn't go well. I visited 2 other clinics in LA, one that was quite famous, and one that was a bit more modest. From the first one, I was wary of the extremely profit/business-driven mentality of both the surgeon and all his staff (that's just how they came across in my opinion), and while the latter was nice, they seemed a bit less top-notch in skill (they seemed experienced enough with Lasik, but less so with ICLs). I got so tired of overthinking the whole thing that I took a break from searching and considered sticking with contacts/glasses. Then, one day my mindset shifted to be less overwhelmed by the idea, and I searched online and happened to stumble upon IQ as being a place that was reviewed to be good to their patients and good with communicating, etc. And from my first visit onwards, I can confirm this is true. I was struck with how they had the best of the two other clinics I mentioned: the first one's expertise and the heart of the second. The whole team at IQ is very professional, yet also very humane, and they were never pushy with me. They finally helped me feel ready to go for it, and not by manipulating me, but simply by being open and ready to answer any questions I had in a very neutral and fair way. I also have to give a shoutout to Danielle, the consultant/counselor (she's like a liason to help explain the overall procedure+cost to you before you speak with the surgeon) - she's genuinely great. I'm now 5 months into living with ICLs - the actual surgery site healed early on - and I can actually say it was worth it. It's admittedly a pretty expensive procedure in general, but I have to say, if you can do it - it's so comfortable and convenient, and I am so grateful that the team was so meticulously careful with their measurements and that it all went well. Our eyes are such a crucial part of the body that I really feared the worst case scenario with mismanagement, but IQ did great. I waited to review bc I wanted to make sure my results were stable. I will update if anything changes, but so far, very good. On seeing haloes - for me specifically, I have truly a lot less of this effect than I anticipated; it really depends on the angle and is pretty negligible for me and my lifestyle needs. Most of the time, I don't have any ! (Maybe it could vary depending on different eyes, though - don't know.) Before, I was overall very cautious about whether ICLs were a good/worthwhile thing to do, but now being on the other side, I'm converted ! I think it has advanced enough to where a good surgeon (IQ has more than one on staff, btw - I had Dr. Patrick) and clinic can do a great job, because that's what I received ! On top of that, I love the San Marino location - so close by. This review is 100% not sponsored, and they did not ask me to do this, I'm doing it on my own! I really dislike it when clinics these days ask their patients to give high reviews if it doesn't accurately represent the place. To the team at IQ: please keep up the great work and keep what's great about your practice. I feel like it can be sometimes a rare find to find medical teams, especially with more optional services like these, who really are conscientious and trustworthy. Thank you again!

Currently 2 weeks post lasik and my vision is SO MUCH BETTER. I had Danielle as my lasik rep and she made everything understandable and answered our questions w/great explanations. Theres even options to pay via payment plans if you're worried about the cost. Originally I wanted to come in for my consult due to my farsightedness and high astigmatism but my dad also ended up joining me last minute LOL and the team at SM location tried their best to accommodate him despite their busy schedule - MEGA THANKS! With some back and forth testing to see whether we qualified for the procedure, we did have to visit the City of Industry location a couple of times since they had a specific machine for dilation that the SM location did not have. In the end I ended up having my surgery there and it was a breeze! I also saw both Dr. Grace and Dr. Nguyen as my optometrists - both amazing and honest drs. Literally told me as it is, and reassured me that post surgery, it would take awhile for me to readjust due to my past prescription. SURGERY DAY; went in, got retested to be sure, got to meet my surgeon & the assistants- Dr. Lin- super nice man), just a bit of loud machinery noise and burning smell but both eyes were zapped and done within 20 minutes. I was able to literally open my eyes post procedure, although blurry, but with no issues. Got my handy clear eye covers and had my eyes closed for the rest of day. You WILL have a high sensitivity to light so make sure you have your sunglasses to wear and eye drops! Thank you to the amazing team at IQ! I can't wait to see a clearer world w/ my new *almost* 20/20 vision!
