Additionally, they will tell you they can reduce the price (minor discount) if you purchase their maintenance plan. The maintenance plan is $288 a year and only gives you priority to non members when something breaks and the service fee is cheaper. I will not be using them again. read more

You know you're in for a doozy of an evening when your A/C fails to cool down your house. Our rusty HVAC system was original to the house so it was only a matter of time before it decided to tucker out. My husband called them that evening and they came out first thing Saturday morning. Rey inspected the unit and determined that the compressor had to be replaced. Our system was obsolete in terms of age so he gave us several options to replace the HVAC system. We found it to be a perfect opportunity to update our house to a more energy efficient system so we decided to go forward with them. So, here is the deal. Wife called to say AC wasn't cooling, so I called AC Comfort from the truck. They were pleasant enough over the phone, and said they would be there in about 45 minutes, which they were. Explained what was going on and that my Goodman AC was about 3-4 years old. Was told that I had to pay $129 service fee plus whatever was in need of repair. $129 was a bit high but he said it shouldn't be too major bc my system was not old. Turns out it was a capacitor, a $25-30 part. They wanted to charge me $295, plus the $129 service call. I said that was egregious. I declined, and ultimately had another company come and do it for $88 plus a lower service fee. Must be nice to be that greedy! read more

I signed up for what was advertised as an "AC tune up." Nothing gets tuned up. Literally NOTHING was done to the unit. It's just an inspection to tell you all that is wrong with the unit and offer additional services. I'm not impressed. If it's not a tune-up, don't call it a tune up-- that's dishonest. Prior to the appointment I had discussed with the young lady who answers the phone (she was a sweetheart) the possibility of getting additional services for the unit since it's old and I did not mind paying extra, but the technician lost me at the point where he explained the "tune-up" I expected is actually a multi-point inspection. If that's the case, please call it that-- an inspection. I have no qualms with the technician since he pretty much showed up to do what he believed was his assignment. I asked did he at least clean off or dust of ANYTHING? He said no. I just think it's disingenuous, and very false advertising to call an inspection a tune-up. read more

Let me start by saying Ray was awesome! After the thunder storms the other day, I had a power surge and lost a couple of appliances. Then it started getting warm again and noticed my ac wasn't coming on either. As you all know ac repairs can be costly and I was dreading having someone out to tell me what's wrong. I contacted 2 people for a diagnostic. The first company that came told me you need a NEW FURNACE!!!! Which was $3200! Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. The next day I contacted Ray and he came right over. He checked the same unit the other guy said I need replaced and said I just needed a new circuit board. He also went out of his way to help me find out if mine was still under warranty since the furnace was only 8 years old. Just when you're having the worst day and you come home to a broken AC unit it could only get worse. But Osiel with AC Comfort completely turned my day around. All around this was a great service. From the call this evening to making sure someone could come within a 2 hour window, following up on a call to let me know the driver was only 5 minutes away, and then resolving the issue without over charging me. Not only that, but their tech came within 30 minutes of my call!Osiel explained in detail and was able to show me exactly what went wrong and how he was able to fix the problem. The "Repair" guy showed up, did some tests and informed me there was nothing really wrong. When the thermostat is set on 70 and the house is 76 then we needed a charge, maintenance, or repair. He did a diagnostic test on both units and absolutely nothing was done to either of the units. He wanted to charge me thousands to put in bigger ducts. The units were working fine the week before I called. He charged me $200 for doing diagnostic tests that didn't help. Now my lower unit has quit. The guy is a scammer don't call them. He also would answer his phone when called back by my husband who set up the appointment. read more

Rey Ugalde, the owner, was friendly and prompt, arriving within mere hours as we had almost non-existent airflow on our old residential air-conditioner unit. He quickly found the problem: the inside unit's motor bracket had fallen down from two loose screws falling out. Our townhouse owner's AC repair man couldn't solve this problem, telling us that it's an old unit, get used to it. We injured this situation for the last five months.In Texas we call this response "bullshit" with the constant humidity and heat that we encounter. I received recommendation for AC Comfort from local community. They were very responsive with scheduling my a/c inspection. The technician was very polite and did great job trying to troubleshoot the electrical problem I needed to get fixed. It was taking time though. After an hour or so of troubleshooting I was explained the issue was in low voltage circuit shorted and given a choice to pay $200 more to get the problem resolved, then I would receive an assessment of how much it will cost to fix it. The tech was very upfront to tell me that I did not have to make a decision and could ask for a second opinion. And I decided to do so. I'm glad I did - the company I scheduled as a backup got the problem found and fixed within the first 30 minutes and I paid $112 for both finding and fixing the problem. I think AC Comfort needs to improve their policy on how they charge the customers. $200 is roughly 3-3.5 hours of a tech's time (in addition to 1 hour already spent and probably included into initial checkup). So if it is normal to spend 4-4.5 hours on finding the short circuit in a low voltage wires that run between the thermostat and the compressor motor starter, then I may be living in a utopian world. I'm sure the tech was telling me what the company told him to do in such case. I'm giving two stars to the company but I would give five to the technician. read more

I have used A/C Comfort to service my heating and cooling units for several years now. I have always had outstanding service and attention to detail by Rey Ugalde and his employees. I am now doubly glad A/C Comfort is my go to heating and cooling company. I am having work done on my house, including some new duct work done to accommodate a larger exhaust fan in my bathroom. The size of the exhaust vent in the fan is larger than the old one, so it requires larger diameter duct work. However, the contractor used duct tape to affix the older, smaller duct to the new exhaust fan, thereby diminishing the effectiveness of the new fan. A/C Comfort, through a written analysis, alerted me to this issue, as well as as another issue in that the electrician did not securely affix a junction box to a stud. Not only did A/C Comfort alert me to issues with another contractor's work, we didn't get charged! It also alerted me to call a licensed electrician to make sure the electrical work was done properly and not a fire hazard. Thank you, Rey and staff!!! read more
