    Coffee and horchata

We love to tried chilaquiles from diffente places, these chilaquiles weren't the best we had tried, but they were very good. The services is good, people are very friendly. The reason why I gave 4 stars is that the place is very small and you have to wait for availability of tables. The other point is that we had to wait little bit more than 45 minutes to get our food. We noticed that people that ordered after us got their food before us. Food is good we really recommend this places if you want to Try authentic Mexican food.

Best chilaquiles I've had in a long time!! I got the green sauce, and let me tell you...the ratio of asada, eggs, and chips/sauce was perfect. They also serve it with a piece of bread, which was a nice little bonus because who doesn't love extra carbs? My boyfriend got the red sauce version, and it was also so tasty! We came for lunch, and it wasn't too crowded, so we found a table right away. You order first and then grab a table, so the whole process was super quick and easy. I also ordered the hot horchata latte and I would honestly come back just for that! It wasn't overly sweet and had the perfect amount of cinnamon. The ambiance is super homey, literally feels like you're eating at your abuela's house, which is fitting because the restaurant is actually inside a house. Definitely a must try if you're in the area!

Great food, fresh and authentic. I loved breakfast tacos. lol We went during a Friday morning so it was easier to find parking and there wasn't a line. It's very cute and cozy. Has indoor and outdoor seating and the outdoor seating has a nice waterfall to listen to while you eat. The table and theme is very traditional. We ordered breakfast tacos abs chilaquiles along with cafe de la Olla. It was perfect. Not too sweet. Didn't add anything to it.

This place is a hidden gem. Small but cozy. The hot chocolate horchata was amazing and the green chilaquiles was pretty good. I'm going to have to give the red one a try next time. Not too big of a fan of the pastry though. It was a bit dry. I think if I had any of that hot chocolate horchata then it may have been ok. The service was pretty good. Just took a minute for the tables to her cleared. Will def come here again.

This definitely felt like I was taking a step into my abuelita's kitchen. Hearty plates. Chile-forward sauces. Fresh pan mexicano. Chocolate de la abuelita that tastes like nostalgia in a cup. What we ordered Drinks * Licuado de plátano * Café de olla * Chocolate de la abuelita Mains * Salsa-glazed chilaquiles with runny eggs * Pork tamal in red chile * Mollete with chorizo & soft egg * Huevos a la mexicana Dessert * Fresh pan mexicano Traditional, nostalgic, intentional. Every bite tastes like it was made with abuelita-level care. The service was great, they were so nice and recommended the right balance spicy/not spicy. Also on the weekend they serve menudo!

Really loved this spot. The location is nostalgic and beautifully decorated, it truly feels like you're stepping into your abuelita's house in Mexico. Such a cozy, welcoming vibe. They offer Café de Olla, traditional Mexican coffee. It is on the sweeter side and pre-made, but still very delicious. I stopped by for a cafecito mid-afternoon and there was plenty of seating with fast service, especially for a Sunday, which was nice. They do offer breakfast items, though I didn't get a chance to try them this time, definitely something to come back for. One thing to note is that the restrooms are shared/connected through the alley with nearby establishments. It would be nice to have an additional restroom, especially during busy times. Overall, I definitely recommend this location. Great spot to grab coffee and then take a walk around the neighborhood afterward.

Adorable little spot that o stopped by to grab a coffee. I got the nube d horchata and it was really good. It tasted like actual horchata which when horchata is made into any type of coffee drink can be very hit or miss so I was pleasantly surprised. The decor is adorable and while I didn't have any food this time, I would definitely be back to try.

Cozy, warm, feels like mg abuelas home. I am sooo happy when we went here. My best friends from the bay visited Sac and we all wanted to try Abuelas!! The coffee and the menudo is thhhhe best menudo. We got the pot to share and it just feels like a warm hug. So here is the set up: you order first, order everything you want because they do run out!! Pick a table and enjoy. I will be back for sure!! Weeeeee love it so much.

This was unfortunately a huge letdown for me. I was super excited to try out some Mexican pastries and hot chocolate for the first time. When I came in, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They gave me a complimentary coffee and concha. I didn't drink the coffee because it usually makes me jittery, but the concha was a bit lackluster. It was subtle in flavor, but I mostly tasted the powdered sugar (or whatever it was) on the outside. It was also a little dry. I bought one of the pan dulces (ojo de pancha) and a hot chocolate. The pancha was hard as a rock and lacked flavor. I wasn't a fan of the hot chocolate either. It was less of a chocolate taste and more of the spices they had in it. I was really disappointed with this visit. I had high hopes. I might come back and try their meals, but I'm not sure.

The horchata was so great! I got the moleta and I loved how seasoned the meat was. The employees were kind and explained the foods. The restaurant was very cutely decorated!

We stopped in looking for coffee and ordered a cold horchata latte and a hot specialty drink (forgot the name). Unfortunately, neither was what we expected -- the "latte" seemed more like pre- brewed coffee with sweet flavoring instead of a true espresso-based drink. The hot one was overly sweet and we couldn't get through even a third of it. That said, the breakfast dishes coming out of the kitchen looked great, so we need to come back and give the food a try next time. They have cute indoor seating and nice outdoor patio as well. We will come by again and hope to update this review with more stars ! Great to see new fun cafes opening in Sacramento. Friendly service , street parking only .

I initially saw this place on the news, then found it it was trending on TikTok, and had to come check this place out. Abuela's Midtown is a beautiful cafe/brunch spot housed in a historic blue Victorian home. The interior is decorated to feel very homey, and definitely gives you the vibe of stepping into your abuela's home. They have plenty of outdoor seating as well-- a patio out front and two table areas on the side of the building. I love all the bright colors in this cafe, because they do it just right. Bright colors, warm ambience, making it a cozy spot. Right when I walked in, I was greeted immediately. The two people helping me up front at the register were very nice and helpful when I asked about some of the menu items. I asked about the cafe de olla (something I've never tried) and they let me try a sample of it! It's very cinnamony and they serve this to you in a traditional clay mug if you're not getting it to go. The red chilaquiles did not disappoint either. It comes with 2 eggs made your style of choice and toasted bread. Will def bring my friends the next time I visit!

Who doesn't love a hearty, home-cooked meal from abuela? I stopped by Abuela's last Sunday while flying solo - my boyfriend was out of town, I didn't feel like cooking for one, and I had a serious craving for chilaquiles. After a quick Yelp search for local spots (I love discovering and supporting small businesses), Abuela's immediately caught my eye. The few photos already posted were just too cute to resist! When I arrived, I learned they were still in their soft opening phase. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quickly, and the staff was warm and welcoming. As of now, it doesn't seem like they accept reservations, but I hope that becomes available in the future - I can already see this place getting popular fast! I ordered the red chilaquiles (instead of green) because I'm a bit spice-sensitive and usually prefer the milder option. That said, I still found the dish to be a bit spicier than expected - mainly due to a generous amount of onions, which gave it a sharper kick than I anticipated. So, if you're like me and your nose starts running at the first hint of heat, I recommend requesting fewer onions when you order. I also tried Café de Olla, which had a lovely spiced flavor, but I forgot to mention that I usually prefer my coffee less sweet (I often sub Splenda or other sugar alternatives). So, for anyone who's watching their sugar intake or managing diabetes, be sure to ask for sugar on the side or inquire if they have sweetener options. The ambiance at Abuela's is truly something special- cozy, cultural, and charming. The decor is thoughtful and inviting, capturing that comforting "at grandma's house" vibe perfectly. Seating is a bit limited due to the space, but they offer indoor and outdoor options, which is always a plus. I visited on a Sunday, so parking was easy and mostly free, which made the visit even smoother. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and can't wait to return to try more dishes. With a few small adjustments to my order next time, I know it'll be an even better experience. If you're in the area and craving comfort food with heart, Abuela's is absolutely worth a visit.

Each taco had a generous amount of meat, was well-prepared, and tasted fresh. The real game changer, though, was adding the jalapeño cream sauce along with a few salsas from the salsa bar which took the tacos to another level. If I could, I'd give this place 6 stars just for that! Also, I'd recommend the cucumber lime agua fresca drink. It tasted refreshing and the perfect amount of each flavor. I visited this past Saturday and it was quite busy inside like it always is. The restaurant is large enough to fit a lot of people, so finding a seat isn't an issue. To order, you line up in front of the register and wait until they call you. Once it was my turn, I ordered a Super Burrito with Al Pastor, which is my favorite protein choice there. Usually I order 2 tacos with my burrito but I was saving room for Korean bbq that day! The Super Burrito comes with your choice of meat, rice, beans, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. I also ordered a medium pineapple agua fresca, which paired perfectly with my burrito. After ordering, you're handed a number to take to your table so the servers know where to bring your food. As I'm waiting for my food, I helped myself to the self-serve chip bar. The chip bar is my favorite thing about the restaurant besides the food and quick service. I always get loads of both the white and red pickled onions, and some salsa to go with my chips. They offer many sides to choose from so that anyone can customize their meal to their liking. The pickled onions have the perfect level spice and acidity to them which helps with cutting down the greasiness you may get from a burrito. I also like to snack on them for fun too! The food comes out extremely quickly. When I finished placing my order and brought my number to my table, I went to the self-serve bar right after to get some chips. Not even 2-3 minutes later, I came back to my table with my burrito already there! The burrito was absolutely delicious and piping hot. It's the perfect size for me and eating it with the pineapple agua fresca and some chips makes it a perfect meal! Coming to La Favorita Taqueria is always a treat and I appreciate the quick customer service, self-serve bar, and delicious food! I highly recommend the Al pastor as your protein choice and honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu!

They didn't just walk by like frazzled, hurried workers like most restaurants pushing through the crowds. They actually gave me a nice smile and said welcome, and then walked by. And then I got to the reception area found that there was already a pretty big crowd at around the 5:30 PM or so I guess a lot of early birds come to eat there on Sunday. The receptionist asked for how many and said you'd be like a 20 minute wait and there was chairs where people were waiting but it was only like a 15 minute wait. The server was fast with the chips and salsa and ice water and then soon the waiter came and took my order. He was really quick and witty, fun to talk to. What I really enjoyed was as the noise of the table Near quieted down and they left. I saw a young man cleaning up the table and getting it ready for the next group of people. He was dressed really nice and had a tie on. Having been in restaurants most of my life I said to myself, I bet you he works with the owners or something. And I said to him, are your related to people that own the place ? he said my parents own this place. He was very friendly and polite. He told me a tiny bit about the restaurant and how everything had been since 1970, much older than he was, he was only a sophomore in high school I think. I never really got his name, but I was kind of proud of him because he was working hard at his family's restaurant. I ordered probably something bigger than I could eat because I had to take leftovers home, but it was really a tasty meal, and they're coming out with more chips and salsa without being asked, probably didn't help as well as a second lemonade.
