Adorable little spot that o stopped by to grab a coffee. I got the nube d horchata and it was really good. It tasted like actual horchata which when horchata is made into any type of coffee drink can be very hit or miss so I was pleasantly surprised. The decor is adorable and while I didn't have any food this time, I would definitely be back to try.

The horchata was so great! I got the moleta and I loved how seasoned the meat was. The employees were kind and explained the foods. The restaurant was very cutely decorated!

Really loved this spot. The location is nostalgic and beautifully decorated, it truly feels like you're stepping into your abuelita's house in Mexico. Such a cozy, welcoming vibe. They offer Café de Olla, traditional Mexican coffee. It is on the sweeter side and pre-made, but still very delicious. I stopped by for a cafecito mid-afternoon and there was plenty of seating with fast service, especially for a Sunday, which was nice. They do offer breakfast items, though I didn't get a chance to try them this time, definitely something to come back for. One thing to note is that the restrooms are shared/connected through the alley with nearby establishments. It would be nice to have an additional restroom, especially during busy times. Overall, I definitely recommend this location. Great spot to grab coffee and then take a walk around the neighborhood afterward.

Cozy, warm, feels like mg abuelas home. I am sooo happy when we went here. My best friends from the bay visited Sac and we all wanted to try Abuelas!! The coffee and the menudo is thhhhe best menudo. We got the pot to share and it just feels like a warm hug. So here is the set up: you order first, order everything you want because they do run out!! Pick a table and enjoy. I will be back for sure!! Weeeeee love it so much.

This was unfortunately a huge letdown for me. I was super excited to try out some Mexican pastries and hot chocolate for the first time. When I came in, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They gave me a complimentary coffee and concha. I didn't drink the coffee because it usually makes me jittery, but the concha was a bit lackluster. It was subtle in flavor, but I mostly tasted the powdered sugar (or whatever it was) on the outside. It was also a little dry. I bought one of the pan dulces (ojo de pancha) and a hot chocolate. The pancha was hard as a rock and lacked flavor. I wasn't a fan of the hot chocolate either. It was less of a chocolate taste and more of the spices they had in it. I was really disappointed with this visit. I had high hopes. I might come back and try their meals, but I'm not sure.

We stopped in looking for coffee and ordered a cold horchata latte and a hot specialty drink (forgot the name). Unfortunately, neither was what we expected -- the "latte" seemed more like pre- brewed coffee with sweet flavoring instead of a true espresso-based drink. The hot one was overly sweet and we couldn't get through even a third of it. That said, the breakfast dishes coming out of the kitchen looked great, so we need to come back and give the food a try next time. They have cute indoor seating and nice outdoor patio as well. We will come by again and hope to update this review with more stars ! Great to see new fun cafes opening in Sacramento. Friendly service , street parking only .

I initially saw this place on the news, then found it it was trending on TikTok, and had to come check this place out. Abuela's Midtown is a beautiful cafe/brunch spot housed in a historic blue Victorian home. The interior is decorated to feel very homey, and definitely gives you the vibe of stepping into your abuela's home. They have plenty of outdoor seating as well-- a patio out front and two table areas on the side of the building. I love all the bright colors in this cafe, because they do it just right. Bright colors, warm ambience, making it a cozy spot. Right when I walked in, I was greeted immediately. The two people helping me up front at the register were very nice and helpful when I asked about some of the menu items. I asked about the cafe de olla (something I've never tried) and they let me try a sample of it! It's very cinnamony and they serve this to you in a traditional clay mug if you're not getting it to go. The red chilaquiles did not disappoint either. It comes with 2 eggs made your style of choice and toasted bread. Will def bring my friends the next time I visit!

A very cute, small spot in midtown Sacramento. The place offers a few tables inside and out. We really wanted to try the chilaquiles torta but they unfortunately were out of the bread, maybe we got there late. So we ended up getting the tamal con huevo. The tamal, egg and beans were good. I did think they put just a bit too much salsa on the plate, I felt as though they were attempting to make the plate look more full than it was. The cafe de olla was a bit of a let down, tasted a little too acidic for me personally. We also thought it was sad they didn't offer hot chocolate but maybe we just didn't see it.

First time here, the mocha iced coffee with horchata cold foam was AMAZING!! I had the tamal with over easy egg that was good. Hubby had horchata latte with chilequeles. The restaurant was clean and decorated really unique. The service was quick and friendly. You should definitely try this place!

Who doesn't love a hearty, home-cooked meal from abuela? I stopped by Abuela's last Sunday while flying solo - my boyfriend was out of town, I didn't feel like cooking for one, and I had a serious craving for chilaquiles. After a quick Yelp search for local spots (I love discovering and supporting small businesses), Abuela's immediately caught my eye. The few photos already posted were just too cute to resist! When I arrived, I learned they were still in their soft opening phase. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quickly, and the staff was warm and welcoming. As of now, it doesn't seem like they accept reservations, but I hope that becomes available in the future - I can already see this place getting popular fast! I ordered the red chilaquiles (instead of green) because I'm a bit spice-sensitive and usually prefer the milder option. That said, I still found the dish to be a bit spicier than expected - mainly due to a generous amount of onions, which gave it a sharper kick than I anticipated. So, if you're like me and your nose starts running at the first hint of heat, I recommend requesting fewer onions when you order. I also tried Café de Olla, which had a lovely spiced flavor, but I forgot to mention that I usually prefer my coffee less sweet (I often sub Splenda or other sugar alternatives). So, for anyone who's watching their sugar intake or managing diabetes, be sure to ask for sugar on the side or inquire if they have sweetener options. The ambiance at Abuela's is truly something special- cozy, cultural, and charming. The decor is thoughtful and inviting, capturing that comforting "at grandma's house" vibe perfectly. Seating is a bit limited due to the space, but they offer indoor and outdoor options, which is always a plus. I visited on a Sunday, so parking was easy and mostly free, which made the visit even smoother. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and can't wait to return to try more dishes. With a few small adjustments to my order next time, I know it'll be an even better experience. If you're in the area and craving comfort food with heart, Abuela's is absolutely worth a visit.

This visit has been well overdue! First off, their location is in prime midtown so parking is going to be a a bit of pain. The interior is beautiful and feels so nostalgic for all Hispanic folks. Plenty of seating inside with some space in the back as well. Staff were super friendly and really take the time to make sure you understand what your food comes with so that there are no surprises. I order the chilaquil torta, cafe de la olla. Warning though, your food can take up to 20-25 mins to be served to you so be prepared for that especially when it's busy. The cafe de la olla was delicious and not overly sweetened which I appreciated. However, the torta didn't come with much chilaquiles. I really wish it did as it definitely would have made a difference with the overall taste of the dish. Overall, I do recommend this place to anyone looking for a good breakfast and/or lunch!

This definitely felt like I was taking a step into my abuelita's kitchen. Hearty plates. Chile-forward sauces. Fresh pan mexicano. Chocolate de la abuelita that tastes like nostalgia in a cup. What we ordered Drinks * Licuado de plátano * Café de olla * Chocolate de la abuelita Mains * Salsa-glazed chilaquiles with runny eggs * Pork tamal in red chile * Mollete with chorizo & soft egg * Huevos a la mexicana Dessert * Fresh pan mexicano Traditional, nostalgic, intentional. Every bite tastes like it was made with abuelita-level care. The service was great, they were so nice and recommended the right balance spicy/not spicy. Also on the weekend they serve menudo!

Went here for breakfast on a Friday morning. Very friendly. We ordered, our drinks were brought out, and then food shortly after. Cozy indoors and cute indoor/outdoor. Horchata was so warm and yummy! Chilaquiles was perfect as well, some of the best I've had! Must try spot!

I ordered the Vietnamese coffee flight and my girlfriend ordered the Vietnamese coffee floats. In hindsight, we should have shared one flight because we didn't even finish one whole flight!! The portions were much bigger than we expected. I tried the Biscoff flavored one and it was DELICIOUS! My girlfriend drank her Matcha and Vanilla. She said they were yummy!! I also ordered a Croffle with Nutella. Our server added bananas and whipped cream. OMG. It was sooooooo tasty!!! She ordered an order of "Dirty Fries" that she had seen on Instagram. It was like a decomposed crab roll on top of perfectly cooked French fries. They made a non-meat option for people celebrating Lent. The service was amazing and the owner of the store even took the time to come chat with us. It sounds like they are opening up an outside seating area soon as well as offering a brunch menu. The gals behind the counter were awesome. They were busily working the whole time. The cafe was a little busy when we got there (10:22) and by the time we left (11:45), it was HOPPIN'! Everyone seemed to be enjoying their time there. We will definitely be back with some more friends!! P

One thing I especially appreciated is how they treat pets. It's clear they care, every dog that came in got a treat, which was a really nice touch. As for the food, the bacon and onion croissant really stood out, very tasty ( though I imagine it would be even better warm ). The caramel apple cheesecake was also incredible, delicious and not overly sweet, even though the name might make you think otherwise. Prices are on the higher side for these premium selections so be aware of that if you haven't been to a Temple before. This location is a bit smaller and has less unique features than other ones. It's perfectly serviceable for a cafe, but the ambiance isn't on par when you compare them. The service, however, was superb. I found the baristas there to be very friendly and warm. A cute outside patio and plenty of room to sit inside. I got the Pink Chai and my friend and i took our drinks to a park down the street which really set the scene: spring day in the park with a friend and a great beverage. The drink was very hot, which ended up being perfect because I had to enjoy it slowly. The flavor profile was subtle and well balanced, not overpowering or too sweet. I'm a big fan of cardamom and pistachio, so getting both in one drink felt like a win, and they worked beautifully together. The pistachio added a nice, nutty finish. I don't distinctly remember tasting the fennel, but it may have been part of what made the overall flavor feel so smooth. I guess I'll just have to come back and order it again. All in all, Qisa was a treat. Im planning on moving in a few months and started looking at apartment listings near by that would allow me to come to Qisa more often. Highly recommend!
