Nice spot in Temple terrace! Great food and decent service. Got the fancy romancy for two and it was very filling. Atmosphere is alright but I would try to sit in the open area as it can get warm in specific areas! You will enjoy this dish if you like lamb or chicken or both!
My husband and I came here for the first time and it was an amazing experience. We ordered the spicy chicken hummus and it was hands down the best hummus I've ever had and I love hummus. Perfectly seasoned, creamy, and incredibly fresh. We also shared a platter that came with a whole chicken and lamb over a bed of rice. Both the chicken and lamb were cooked to perfection, extremely flavorful, and well seasoned. Nothing was dry or bland. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The service was fast and friendly, and the portion sizes were very generous. The entire platter with all of this food was only $60, which is an amazing value for the quality and amount of food you get. Freshness really stood out the most. You can truly taste the quality in every dish. We'll definitely be back. Great food, great service, and very affordable for the quality. Highly recommend.
I loved the experience at Abu Naji. A friend had been suggesting we try it for weeks and we finally made it. It doesn't look like much esthetically but there are a couple really cool traditional seating areas. We were directed to booths initially and then asked to be moved to the floor seating areas, which are generally for large parties, but since it was a weekday and they weren't busy, we were seated for 3. Service was extremely quick and our server made recommendations. We ordered the fancy romance for 3 and what a presentation! We ordered the option for both lamb and chicken. I will be honest and say the lamb was a bit dry but the chicken was great! And the rice was truly the best rice I've ever eaten in my life the 3 of us were fighting over the leftovers. This is definitely a place you wanna experience. Try weekdays tho because weekends are usually packed.
We had a great experience here! The food and drinks were both really good. I had the fried chicken, and it was packed with flavor. My nephew ordered the chicken and rice, and that was delicious too. I also tried a lemonade that was really refreshing. The only downside was that the bathrooms needed some attention -- they were in pretty bad shape. Service was good also .

Starting off with the Freshly Squeezed Lemonade, I asked for a little less sweetness than usual and it's amazing! We also got the Red Tea which is has mint, it was very tasty. For appetizers we went with Hummus and Baba Ghanoush, and this Baba Ghanoush was one of the best we ever had! The hummus was also good. We had three people and shared the Abu Naji Platter for 2, it was huge! For the meats, we chose Mendi Lamb and Madbi Chicken. It could definitely feed four people, especially if you have an appetizer. The server was able to explain the dishes to help us decide, and he was helpful with our selection. The restaurant is decorated with Yemeni decor, and there is a padded area where you can sit directly on the ground and eat. Very cool experience to try.

The chicken mendi lacked flavor. It was disappointing. Sure it was soft and tore off the bone easily but the rice and the chicken flavoring isn't up to the point. It gives a very middle eastern vibe but for the price you pay, you expect a little more upscale restaurant and this didn't hit that. The AC was set to 80 on a hot 92 weather but the room that did have AC had some sort of smell and the seating wasn't the best. This place could use a remodel. It basically didn't hit the mark as to what's given in the other reviews.
We have order in for the food for big office gathering. We were excited because the food representation is big. We have a mix Mandi rice plate that is very impressive. The rice is perfect cook. The only thing that they can improve on is the grill chicken. A few place is burn. Other than that, they have good lamb meat and rib. I also like the side dishes. It accompany well with the rice. Overall we have a good experience. It is a lot food for twenty people.

The rice comes out well-seasoned and cooked The Portions are generous -- you will be walking out satisfied or with leftovers. The platters are meant to share, which makes them great for groups. When you factor in the quality (halal meat, smell of slow-cooking, etc.), prices are reasonable.
The food was outstanding- all the dishes we had were delicious! We enjoyed the ribs, steak, lamb mendi, and chicken mabdi. We sat on the floor for a full authentic experience! Our service was average the delicious food made up for it.
The service was great! This is my old stopping ground, meaning I had a home near by. And The area has grown. But back to the food. I ordered the salmon.and it comes with rice, my wife ordered the chicken. We are waiting to see what it will test like. Ohh ya! I also ordered a lemonade. This is a great place for taking your wife out to eat, or a first date.

The food was absolutely delicious! I have tried many Middle Eastern restaurants, and this is definitely one of the best. If you love Middle Eastern food or want to experience authentic Yemeni cuisine, this place is a must-try. Eismaiglyn took great care of our table. He was very friendly and provided excellent service throughout our visit. We came during the busiest time, and even without a reservation, they were able to accommodate us. I would recommend making a reservation, especially during busy hours, to avoid waiting. Great food, great service, and a wonderful experience! read more

If there were more star options I would easily give this place 10 stars. It's no surprise that when i visit home this is where my family chooses to have family dinner at. This time we got to try the floored seating option which was super fun to do! We were all sitting and enjoying our company in a much different way than your traditional seating. The floor seating was surprisingly comfortable and overall a really fun experience. This business is ran by a father son duo both of who are so pleasant to interact with. The owner is constantly smiling and we recently found out he wakes up and gets started at 5 am to start preparing the meats of the day! Such a hardworking man who is committed to his food. His son is super kind and always made sure we had what we needed. My family can be a lot to deal with but these two never made us feel like we were tok much and are a huge part of why my family keeps returning here. The food here is on another level. You can have pretty much anything in the menu and walk away happy and satisfied. The meats are marinated for many hours and the flavors and present throughout your entire meal. If you're in Tampa and haven't been to Abu Naji yet... you're missing out. This place is the real deal when it comes to Middle Eastern comfort food. We tried the Fancy Romancy--a loaded platter with chicken, lamb, rice, and a bread dome drizzled with honey. Sounds wild? It is. Wildly delicious. We also had their mint lemonade--refreshing, tangy, and perfectly balanced. One sip and you feel like you're on vacation in the Middle East. The presentation was next level. You can tell they care about how the food looks just as much as how it tastes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe was welcoming but modern. Great food with nice portion sizes. The lemonade was made to order and was so refreshing. It was our first time experiencing Yemen cuisine and the server was really nice and provided recommendations. All of the dishes could use a pinch more salt and garlic but over all it was delicious. read more

Out of all the restaurants I've been to in Tampa, this one is my favorite. It's made authentically with quality ingredients. Their hummus with EVOO was exceptional. Their Mendi Lamb and ribs were delicious. I especially love that they put the phyllo dough on top of our combined entrees and drizzled honey over it. I look forward to the next time I come back. Sitting on the ground was quite an experience because I could stretch my legs waiting for the food and eat traditionally. read more

Food was great, we got the chicken and lamb mendi over rice and wrapped in bread. The meat was very tender and flavorful. It came with small side of tomato-cucumber salad. Important to note if you have a nut allergy as there were some in the rice. They checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. The place is cutely decorated. Overall, the food /service/ambiance are all really great and we would come back again. read more

Came in with a large group. Ordered the baba ghanoush and hummus as an appetizer. Both were excellent and we could all tell it was made from scratch. As the main, we ordered the Fancy Romancy for 6 but it could have easily fed 8. Went with chicken, beef ribs, and lamb as the protein options. We were all in awe when the server brought it out and started drizzling honey on top of the phyllo dough crust. Inside was a beautiful assortment of braised meat over rice. Incredible meal and service was fantastic. They were also able to accommodate a vegetarian among our group. Will be back. And definitely stop by if you're in the area. read more

Fantastic, authentic Yemeni restaurant located in the heart of Temple Terrace. You'll find Abu Naji restaurant in a small sleeper strip mall off Bush Boulevard. It's worth the hunt to try something different and unique. read more

They food here is amazing. I got a chicken and lamb mendi platter and they were both falling off the bone yet crispy on the outside. The server was super nice and helpful to explain the difference between the mendi and haneeth. I would recommend this hiddento everyone read more
