Great Shawarma spot and I dare to say this is as authentic as it gets! Reminds me of Shawarma back home in the Middle East. This was my first time trying out Syrian Shawarma and I was happy to see the massive chicken and beef meats that they had on the skewers rotating. That's what I knew, I was in for a treat. I tried both the chicken and beef Shawarma's with fries and pickles on the side. While the beef shawarma was pretty good, the chicken Shawarma is what stole the show as it was excellent. The saj bread was fantastic, and perfectly crisped. The garlic toum was the perfect touch that had the right balance of garlic flavor without being overpowering. Finally went to check out Syrian Shawarma on 56st and Busch. Not too small, has a dining area for sit in. I got the shawarma chicken wrap with garlic butter and lemon zest. I was pleased except I asked if they could add little garlic sauce because for me it was overwhelming taking away from the chicken but overall it's a nice wrap. Some may debate the price of $16 for the size but seems like places are trying to make up for the economy from the customers and that's why it's not a repeated customer. I finally achieved my goal of trying every shawarma spot on 56th. I stopped by on a Sunday evening. The restaurant wasn't busy inside, but they clearly had plenty of takeout orders going. I ordered my usual beef shawarma with fries, and based on their recommendation, I went with the combo--perfect for a chilly winter night. The shawarma came pre-cut, which made it easy to grab and enjoy. The fries were fresh, and the pickles were crisp. One bite and the juices burst out--the best feeling. Everything was very enjoyable and flavorful - we ordered chicken shawarmas and beef shawarmas, and had our meals with fries, toum, and pickled veggies. It was great seeing the meats in the vertical rotisseries, and so satisfying seeing them shave off the meat for the orders. The space seemed to have plenty of indoor seating, I didn't see it all since we were taking our order to go. We tried this place as we were super hungry and looking for halal food so came across this on Google search. To be honest it wasn't the best. It was very very salty. Their garlic sauce had so much salt in it. Staff was mean and they wouldn't do anything about salty food. They opened at 12 and we were there at 1230 and they told us oh we are sold out of rice. I mean someone they just opened and how can they be sold out on rice. What a lame excuse. It's pricey and quantity wasn't good either. We paid almost 50 bucks for 3 of us (2 adult one child). Their bread is something we couldn't eat. They just put some kind of ketchup type of sauce in. The meat quantity is very less. I've never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant before. The woman answering the phone had a very rude attitude, and another employee (curly hair, glasses) matched that same energy. The looks and behavior toward me and my mom were honestly disgusting and completely unprofessional. Customer service should never make people feel uncomfortable. We came here after doing Busch gardens for the day. We love middle Easter food so this place looked amazing plus the reviews gave it a 4.9. When we walked in, it was busy. We ordered a kibbeh, tabbouleh, and chicken and beef loose shawarma. It took a while to get our food. We finally got our food. The kibbeh, was good. Not the best, as it was crunchy and thick but I feel the meat could have been a little more seasoned. The shawarma also was very bland. It was good not dry but they missed the mark with seasoning again. The garlic sauce was good, but light on garlic and whipped. The fries were the most seasoned thing in our food. Overall, solid 4. Overall good and full of flavor. One of the best beef shawarmas I've ever had. The kibbeh was full of flavor too. There's also a kibbeh shawarma option which I've never seen before. My only issue is with the portions of an extra jumbo beef shawarma ($15) didn't seem worth the price. It doesn't seem that much more filling than a regular at almost half the price. It is amazing how great the shawarma tastes at Syrian Shawarma. Each country in the Middle East makes their shawarma a little differently. I particularly love the shawarma from Israel & from Lebanon. But now I have to say Syria is in a 3-way tie with those others. I ordered a mixed combo of chicken & beef. The chicken was my favorite of the 2. The meat was all white, & the spice mixture used on it was extraordinarily delicious. In addition to the meats, the bed of yellow rice it came on was moist & tasty. The food tastes good but the seating inside is very casual. There is no Arabic tea which is a must in Arabic place I have been too. The place just lacks a good vibe on the inside. It's very gloomy. For an order of just one dish it took over 30 minutes to be prepared. The restaurant was slow -- just a few other tables similarly waiting forever for their food. The worst part is that you can see the people in the kitchen -- two standing at the front yawning and chatting without a care for the customers, and the ones in the back moving like sloths.
