Zaky Zak's had exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want much for dinner and had a taste for baba ganoosh. This is a smoky egg plant dip with olive oil, paprika, and tomato. You eat it with pita. This is a quick spot for it with an amazing A/C and a good amount of tables and chairs. My order was given to me right away, & from what it appears the pita bread is baked in house. Their baba ganoosh was very tasty and a good size amount that I couldn't finish it. I'm looking forward to eating it for leftovers tomorrow. Super friendly and quick service too. I didn't want to sit in a restaurant and wait. Next time I want to try their wraps, falafels, & shawarma.
This place is one of the freshest Mediterranean fast casual spots I've ever been to. The falafel Saj and the hummus are soooo good. The ingredients are authentic and fresh. The breads are soft and flavorful. There's such good ingredients to choose from that are spiced and flavored well. The staff is kind and knows what they're doing! I'll definitely be back, I wished I lived closer!!
Grilled chicken kebab is very very good steak bowl was awesome! Rice was pretty good. Workers were very nice!
Located in a shopping center on Fowler ave just between the dead University Mall and USF, Zaky Zak's is a hidden gem. I was in the mood for a good pita and I found one of the best here. I would describe this as a quick serve/takeout restaurant. The staff is attentive and welcoming. The restaurant is noticeably very clean and spotless. You walk up to the counter and order your food Chipotle style, choosing a protein and type of entree, then selecting fresh toppings. The toppings are clearly fresh. The shawarma looks great as you can see it being cooked behind the counter. We ordered a pita and a saj. Both were excellent but the saj was the favorite. It's wrapped like a burrito and then browned on a griddle. The spicy pepper topping was excellent. I asked for mine extra spicy and my wife asked for hers with little spice and it turned out exactly as we asked. As we were eating I think we must have repeated the phrase "this is so good" about 10 times. Overall, this is an excellent restaurant to eat shawarma. The meal is so satisfying you will want to eat it again. I think the quick service style where you choose your toppings and see all fresh ingredients in front of you is perfect for what they are offering. I will be returning.

The restaurant is clean & the workers were very pleasant. I ordered a chicken shawarma pita. I excitedly got it topped with cabbage, tomato, sumac onions, pickles, tehina, & amba. The filled pita arrived & I noticed it was much smaller than normal. The food was very fresh, but very plain & average tasting. The chicken was lacking the shawarma seasoning I was expecting. I wish them well, but in my opinion, their competition nearby is at a much higher level
Zaky Zak's serves a delicious and authentic shawarma, especially the chicken and steak options, along with fresh falafel and flavorful hummus. They give you generous portions at reasonable prices. The food is consistently fresh and made with care by the associates. The associates are extremely friendly and helpful, the dining area is very clean, and the restrooms are spotless.
Best middle eastern food I've had in Tampa . Very authentic . Fresh food . They have amba and garlic sauce . Fresh pickled veggies . Service was good too . I recommend it
I love Zaky Zak's!! The food is freshly made and the service is swift. There is some space to eat inside, but it can get a little noisy around lunchtime. I frequent this spot just about every week. It's the perfect lunch meal!
I had high hopes for some really good shawarma today... and have wanted to go to Zaky Zaks for while now. The reviews have been decent, and the pictures look good. Arrived, ordered a Chicken Shawarma plate with everything but Baba Ghanoush, as I wanted to order a side of that. The fries have looked awesome also... so ordered that too. Wasn't paying attention... and the bill came to $27.00 not including the tip. Lol... Ok. Well... what the heck, right? I figured a good lunch would be worth it. Interestingly, they shave the shawarma with a large handheld electric meat shaver... and it is set to a very thin setting. Probably makes for a much more precise serving than cutting by hand as is tradition (and more profit that way)! I got what may have been 4oz of thinly shaved chicken... no real chew, or texture.. and not as much as flavor as I had hoped either. The hummus and pickled veggies were good... and the very thin layer of chicken on top made it look pretty substantial. But not really impressed.. I have had tastier shawarma at mall kiosks. The Pita I received was very thick, and soft... but not hot, barely warm... and not much flavor there. The Baba Ganoush was ok... nice serving, and great presentation. Taste was good except for what seem to some sort of smoke flavor enhancer, or something that made that delicious eggplant taste sort of artificial. I make Baba Ganoush at home, and yes... the recipe calls to get the eggplant really well roasted, (charring the skin which is removed before preparing the dish) which does give a wonderful smokey flavor. But this was just a little off for me. Just tasted like burnt plastic or something. The fries were ultra crispy, and delicious. And a decent serving for the price. The bottled Tea was good... lol. Service was ok... not much to it really... but that was ok. I probably won't be back.
This place is really excellent for Middle Eastern food! I decided to get the Falafel Pita and it was delicious! Loved the freshness of the toppings and vegetables. The highlight was definitely the falafel itself. Nice and crispy on the outside while staying tender on the inside. I love the vegetal flavor of it. The fries were also delicious. Hot and crispy on the outside while soft and tender on the inside. This place makes for a great meal! Service can be a little slow at times depending on time of day or number of orders. But overall, I definitely would come back again! Keep up the good work!
Zaky Zak has young people energy. The entire store run by young staff. They also experience and know the customer need. The two major proteins are the steak and chicken rotation skewers. Love this Middle Eastern street food. We got the Saj with two proteins. It is not in the menu. The mix proteins is a dollar more than the steak. Saj is Arabic traditional bread. It is a wrap. Very delicious. We got the recommended sauce with one of them is mango sauce. The food is good for street food. The Saj also delicious. The restaurant also serve in pita or bowl. I like the protein choice and preparation.
I have been consistently coming here. I crave the Saj. The service is great. The quality and value is excellent. If you like Mexican food, try this, there's flavor, spice and Saj is a middle eastern burrito. It's so good and filling. It has become one of my top comfort foods. I have been exploring more middle eastern cuisine and this place is a regular place I visit. It's comfortable to dine in and bring a friend to try new food. read more

I had high hopes for some really good shawarma today... and have wanted to go to Zaky Zaks for while now. The reviews have been decent, and the pictures look good. Arrived, ordered a Chicken Shawarma plate with everything but Baba Ghanoush, as I wanted to order a side of that. The fries have looked awesome also... so ordered that too. Wasn't paying attention... and the bill came to $27.00 not including the tip. Lol... Ok. Well... what the heck, right? I figured a good lunch would be worth it. We were headed out of town on a road trip, but we needed some lunch before we rolled. We were both craving shawarma. I saw this spot pop up on a buddies feed, so we decided to check it out. I am glad we did, it was excellent. We walked in and we were greeted immediately. We reviewed the menu and they explained their offerings. They had a bowl, a wrap, and a pita. They had a selection of proteins, a bunch of toppings, and a good selection of sauces. My buddy rolled with the beef saj and I rolled with mixed grill bowl. The saj was like a tortilla, but a bit more stretchy. The mixed grill had chicken and beef shawarma along with all their toppings and sauces. We were interested in trying the falafel and they made a couple patties for us to try. We grabbed a seat after our food was made. It looked amazing and tasted just as good. The falafel had great flavor, good texture, and wasn't dry. We loved it. My mixed grill bowl was perfect. It had an amazing mix of flavors and textures. The sauces made it extremely flavorful. My buddy enjoyed his saj. It was a lot less messy than a pita and was super tasty. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch. The food was exceptional and the folks serving it were really nice. We will definitely be back soon to try some different menu items. Awesome new spot! read more

Food = yum Service = efficient Ambiance = it is in a strip mall I'll post the pictures and you wouldn't know it to look at them but this is some delicious pita. This isn't Greek pita with gyro meat. This is pita with hummus, sumac and garlic sauce. It's delicious and I also watched them hand make falafel to order. What more could you want. Yum. So satisfying. Go cram your face into one and taste all the flavors. read more

This place is the jam. We were looking for a quick k place for lunch, and I remembered this was new-ish in this plaza. It was sooooo good. We got both a chicken and a steak bowl. We added all of the toppings, and they were all amazing. The s'kug is pretty spicy, so be prepared. They only had rice today, but it was also really good. Hubs got the tahini sauce, and I got the garlic sauce. We even had enough to bring home and eat the rest for dinner. Service was great. The gentleman answered a few questions and was very friendly. The dining area was clean. There was one other table of people in there eating. 10/10 we will be back. Go here. read more
Can't ask for much more! Stopped after busch gardens on my 7k mile 24 city food trip for a "snack." And this is where i landed. Super quality. Friendly counter service made to order chicken bowl shaved thinly right off the spinner. Yellow rice, red cabbage, fresh jalapeño, sumac onions, shatta, cucumber, and hummus! everything blended nicely. The shatta was the star. Nice touch to add a schmear of hummus on side of bowl. My only feedback is consider serving with a few triangles of pita to get the residual sauces and whatnot. read more

Came out here to try the shawarma. Pita Bread baked fresh every day and is very good! Tried the chicken shawarma and was impressed. Pretty flavorful. I would request to toast it next time or just get the Saj instead because would be toasted. Also, ordered the Zaky fries and those were extremely delicious. Nice guys running this hole in the wall; would definitely come back! read more
Had a hankering for some shawarma so I decided to check out the new spot in town and boy were we pleased. The food was fresh and packed with tons of that Middle Eastern flavor we love... Extra toum Yes please!!! The staff and very friendly and helpful with answering any and all questions about the menu. After seeing that the falafel were made fresh to order we just had to get some and man was that a good choice... I would have to stay the best falafel in all of Tampa... so what are you waiting for go check them out you will be pleased and your taste buds so happy... read more

First time coming in and I'm glad I stopped in! The front manager (didn't catch his name) was extremely kind and patient while going over the the menu. The establishment was extremely clean, as well as the topping/kitchen prep areas (bathroom was very clean, too!). I ordered a steak bowl with a couscous base, cabbage, cucumber, tomato, onions, tahini sauce, lettuce, hummus, and some spicy stuff to mix the hummus with (think, like a Chipotle bowl set up...you pick your base, meats, and toppings in a similar way). I also ordered a caramel cashew baklava and got all of it to go. The food was delicious, and so was the baklava. My only reservation is that I'm not entirely sure that I received the correct baklava because it just tasted like a classic baklava to me (either way, the baklava was very tasty). Definitely will be back with some extra mouths to feed next time! read more

Excellent Palestinian style shawarma pita! Everything is really good, from the pita bread that they bake in house to the Hummus and even the tahini sauce! One of the best shawarma spots in Tampa! I tried both the beef shawarma and the chicken shawarma; highly recommend the pita because their bread that they bake fresh daily is ! read more

DELICIOUS AND FRESH!!! Super clean inside and can easily be customized for those who are health conscious while not sacrificing on flavor. The pickled cabbages and sauces were so tasty. Highly recommend. read more
