Falafel Sandwich
Sorb D.

this sandwich will heal you of any depression, you will have the most beautiful amazing day after eating this sandwich. I literally saw a rainbow on my drive home- this sandwich blessed my day, i'm so serious. The man who works there is very nice and the food he makes is fresh. The falafel is the best you'll ever have. My mom took me here one time like 2 years ago, and I never stopped thinking about the falafel.

Being from Detroit, I grew up eating Lebanese- Middle Eastern food, so was more than excited to find the locally owned La Pita. This is a fast casual spot that is probably more frequented as carryout. The falafel was handmade and delicious but the accompaniments didn't enhance the meal - would have preferred hummus, tabouli and toum to a traditional salad. Shawarma was good, though sliced too fine.

I was worried when I opened the containers and saw the portion sizes. I thought surely, I will still be hungry after this. I'm glad to say that was NOT the case. The Kafta and Shawarma I ordered were seasoned to perfection and meant to be eaten with every side in the to-go containers which really brought the flavors out even more. This was my first time trying La Pita and I know for a fact, I will be ordering from here again. The ingredients were fresh and I'm interested in trying their other menu items.

Chicken Shawarma Platter

An explosion of great flavors in every bite. Fresh and delicious food, with very pleasant and quick service. Generous portions, and lots of options on the menu. The atmosphere is decidedly casual, and well traveled, but you're there for three food, and it's definitely worth a trip! I had a traditional Gyro, and it came with a mound of meat, tasty sauce, and fresh veggies on a puffy pita. My wife had Shawarma, which also had fantastic flavors and was a huge serving of food. Definitely recommended!

Hummus

An explosion of flavor was met with every bite. We had the hummus appetizer with lamb&beef gyros, and both were excellent. The lamb&beef gyros were juicy, packed with flavor and generously filled. If you'd like to try authentic Lebanese cuisine, please check out La Pita.

Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. In the spirit of expanding our culinary pallet, we ordered two apps that were new to us. The Kebbeh was very good - i'd say similar to a meat hush puppy? Krispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. The Baba Ganju was different than what I was expecting and not something I personally liked (not any fault to the dish, I'm just a texture person). The chicken shawarma and gyro platter (it's a platter at dinner) were FANTASTIC! Seriously, so much flavor, fresh, the meat was not overly cooked. Everything tasted very fresh and we seriously had no complaints!! We also ordered a side of Batata, which are sort of crispy potato cubes with chili flakes + garlic - so good! I will say when we got there, there was a mishap and we waited over 20 minutes to be greeted and introduced to our server after we sat down. Once our server realized we were in her section, the rest of our service was amazing! I think that was just a one off fluke, and I would not let it negatively impact my experience.

I got the chicken shawarma and it's served deconstructed (as in you get the meat, veggies, and hummus all separate with pita to make it yourself) and the chicken was really lacking flavor. My brother got the chicken kebab and also thought the chicken was bland. My girlfriend got the gyro (also served deconstructed) and we both thought it was the best dish but also nothing special. In terms of parking, there is no parking lot. There is some free street parking but it is limited.

Maybe it was the brand of Cognac they used for my drink, but it did not taste good at all. Neither of us finished our drinks and left and went to another bar. Maybe their wine and charcuterie plates are better?

We like proper food. Bar Ten and Cheese Please DELIVERED. The service was exceptional and I truly don't know why we didn't have to wait in line to get a table. They are in a pretty inauspicious location, in a small strip of businesses on MacDill, but there should be a path of folks beating a path to the door. We ordered an aggressive amount of food for two people. We asked and received for the bartender's choice on a charcuterie board. She nailed it. We were two bites in and planning our next visit. I want to eat every pairing they suggest. My husband cannot get over the Merlot cheddar and chocolate jam. I was partial to the potato cheddar and sweet onion jam. The Fattoush dressing is the type that has olive oil instead of pomegranate molasses (or at least includes it) and you can legitimately taste the quality of the olive oil. Literally everything we had was fantastic.

There was one other couple ahead of me, and only one person working, so I did wait a bit, which was fine since I needed to peruse the menu. There are a few tables inside to eat at, but I chose one of the three outside tables. After conferring with the couple in front of me, I decided to go with the Mezze platter - your choice of 5 items. I thought it was expensive at $24, but it seemed to be the best way to try a wide variety of things. The five items I got, ranked from best to least best: 2 falafels-really good, hummus-very good, cucumber salad-good, cous cous-fine, beet salad-meh. Make sure you ask for the hot sauce - it jazzed everything up. The platter was served with a couple of pieces of pita, but there really needed to be more to dip into all the salads. The only available drinks were to purchase bottled water or bottled soda. I only ate about a third, but I will say it did not travel well. Because three of the salads were placed in the same section, by the next day all three salads were a combined soggy mess, and the only part that was still edible was the hummus. I did enjoy the food, and the worker was incredibly friendly and hospitable, but it was a bit too pricey for one lunch for me.

It was very tasty and a good amount of food. The only thing I would change about my experience would be for the fries to be advertised as a side so that we'd know how much they cost, since the price wasn't listed on the menu. When I grabbed some ketchup packets for my fries, the packets had dirt on them which was a bit weird. Maybe I got the bottom of the batch or something. It may have been the fact that at my first job out of high school, folks called the truck that swung by the "roach coach." Conversely, it may be my binge watching of food network and their Food Truck Rally that has changed my mind. Either way, I'm very pleased with the fact that I've begun exploring these great little mobile sources of food pleasure. This food truck swung by work recently, and I have to admit I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Middle East cuisine. The young woman taking the order was very patient and explained all the different plates, the variations available, and what came on each. Her top recommendation came for the beef shawarma and I told her I'd take it. One thing that folks have to realize is that these are mobile kitchens with very limited space. In today's age of fast food that seems to be sitting under a food warmer and being prepared long before you order, there is an unrealistic expectation that a food truck will spit your order out in a minute or two. I played on my phone for a while and was delighted when my name was called. The meat was perfectly seasoned and there was no skimping on the portions. The liberal amount of sauce on top added to the tastiness (and most definitely the messiness) of this dish. I'm hoping this food truck comes back soon. Not only for a chance to try some other of their tasty dishes, but also because of the friendliness of the woman at the window, and for how (relatively) quickly my food was served.

I did not mind too much though because the overall experience was still really fun. Definitely a place I would go back to!

We had a 6:30 PM reservation and the restaurant was fairly empty (about 4-5 tables occupied), yet we were seated at a very small two-top directly next to another couple where we could clearly hear each other's conversations. Several larger tables nearby remained empty the entire evening. When I asked about moving, we were told the tables were reserved and we'd need to leave by 8:30 PM ~ yet we stayed until 9:40 PM and those tables were never used... Service started off slow. No one greeted us for about 20 minutes until we waved someone over. When our server, Briana, arrived, she asked if we had been helped, which made it seem like there was a lack of communication between the host staff and servers. Food was okay: the branzino with grilled vegetables was very good, but the octopus was extremely tough and chewy. My plate was also chipped on both the left and right sides, which was surprising considering how expensive the dinner was. Drinks were fine, just a bit too sweet. What really caught me off guard was the automatic 20% gratuity added to a two-top. The most expensive restaurants in Tampa don't even do it and this is not Miami. Overall, not a terrible experience ~ but not one that makes me eager to return.

Restaurant was clean, white table cloths, older decor and booths, but cute. Place was full of two large family groups celebrating the holidays together. Bathroom could use a better cleaning and update. We decided to get a small appetizer plate: Humus, Baba Ghanhuj, Falafel, Labneh, we opted for no grape leaves as we don't prefer them and got extra falafel instead. Portion was great. Our favorites were the Labneh absolutely delicious and perfect taste and texture, humus was seasoned perfectly and falafel was good, but I can't say it was amazing though, something was missing in taste to me. We also ordered the mixed meat entree, portion was large, no way I could have eaten it alone! We shared and still had left overs. The entree came with Kufta Kabob, beef shawarma, chicken kabobs, beef shish kabob, tzatziki, fattoush salad, pita, basmati rice. We had wanted a side of extra tzatziki but instead received a large side dish of tzatziki (we let it go, but neither of us truly enjoyed the tzatziki that much. It was bland to our liking). The one thing we absolutely did not like was the bland, no dressing fattoush salad. It literally had no dressing, no taste, not recommended at all, as the side. So here's what we did like a lot was the chicken kabobs, beef shawarma, basmati rice, beef shish kebabs, kufta kabobs, humus, and loved the Labneh on and with everything. The chicken kabobs were our favorite meat, tender, juicy, seasoned perfectly! We truly enjoyed and savored the Pistachio Baklava, so yummy for dessert! Overall we gave the place a 4 out of 5. We enjoyed our food, service was attentive and friendly. We had to downgrade from a 5 because we did not like the no dressing fattoush salad and the tzatziki tasted bland to us (we are used to the more Greek style). We will be back to try some other dishes!
