Went late night with friends. The restaurant had an amazing dj playing music outside. It was quite busy but inside was less people. Our server was nice and attentive and offered food suggestions which was appreciated as this was our first time. The lamb meatballs were not my favorite. If you are not a texture person then you will probably be fine. The whipped feta was definitely a favorite. Not pictured are their lamb chops with asparagus and potatoes. The lamb chops and potatoes were cooked and seasoned well! The only thing we wish was better was their bathroom setup. They have one single-occupancy men's restroom and one single-occupancy women's restroom. They do not keep up with making sure the bathrooms have toilet paper nor keep it clean. We understand it was busy but hopefully they can improve this in the future. Otherwise, I recommend especially when there is a dj! read more

This was my first time checking out Dio and it honestly reminded me of Miami after 10. They had dancers outside and the whole vibe was incredible and so fun. Everyone was super nice and it just felt like such a lively spot. Our table got a bunch of apps to share along with a couple entrees and all of the food was fantastic. The sangria was also incredible and definitely a standout. The only downside was that the service felt a little slow, so in between ordering drinks it felt like a long time. Although this restaurant has been open for 7+ years and I'm a regular in downtown Tampa, tonight was my first visit. I debated between 3 and 4 stars, but I'm going with 3. We had a 6:30 PM reservation and the restaurant was fairly empty (about 4-5 tables occupied), yet we were seated at a very small two-top directly next to another couple where we could clearly hear each other's conversations. Several larger tables nearby remained empty the entire evening. When I asked about moving, we were told the tables were reserved and we'd need to leave by 8:30 PM ~ yet we stayed until 9:40 PM and those tables were never used... Service started off slow. No one greeted us for about 20 minutes until we waved someone over. When our server, Briana, arrived, she asked if we had been helped, which made it seem like there was a lack of communication between the host staff and servers. Food was okay: the branzino with grilled vegetables was very good, but the octopus was extremely tough and chewy. My plate was also chipped on both the left and right sides, which was surprising considering how expensive the dinner was. Drinks were fine, just a bit too sweet. What really caught me off guard was the automatic 20% gratuity added to a two-top. The most expensive restaurants in Tampa don't even do it and this is not Miami. Overall, not a terrible experience ~ but not one that makes me eager to return. read more

With outside/indoor seating (ideally outdoors which is sitting on the sidewalk), you know it's going to be a good time. They have live music, a DJ, and dancers the night I went to dinner. It was a vibe! Not sure you can sit long enough to eat. One minute I'm eating my filet mignon kebab with fries (which is on the pricier side for Mediterranean food, I believe it was over $30). We were the only customers at the time. They were setting up for the evening events. Apparently they have belly dancers and bongos on Friday nights. We would've gone back but we already had plans for the evening. This was a nice little spot for a quick late lunch. The only downsides: how dirty and torn the menus were (disgusting... dried food everywhere) And the amount of destitute (dr*gs) people are constantly walking by you if you sit outside. Had a dinner date with my daughter at Dio and it never disappoints. She is a regular however I have been about 3 times. It was cool/crisp weather however we sat outside on a Saturday evening. They accommodated us with a heater. For appetizer we ordered the Tzatziki ( fab). I ordered the lamb chops and my daughter had the salmon( scrumptious). None of us had alcohol however they did make me off menu a strawberry lemonade and it was so good. The only thing I wish were different there is if they had more than one restroom for each gender. The line can get pretty long. My daughter smoked hookah and it was a great ambiance. Will most certainly return. I did not take any pictures so you will have to use your imagination like in the 1980s however I will say whatever you order will not disappoint. read more

My wife and I stumbled upon Dio Modern Mediterranean in downtown Tampa on St. Patrick's Day, right after the parade--and wow, what a lucky find! We didn't have a reservation, but they were kind enough to seat us anyway, which we really appreciated. From there, everything just kept getting better. This was honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I'm not someone who usually goes out of my way for Mediterranean food, so I wasn't totally sure what to expect or how to order--but the experience was top-notch from start to finish. We decided to share a few things instead of getting individual meals, and it was the perfect move. We started with the mixed Mediterranean dips (so good!) and added a side of fresh veggie crudité for dipping-- refreshing and flavorful. For our entrée, we shared the filet mignon kabob with a side of asparagus, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was probably the tastiest filet I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, super tender, and just packed with flavor. Service was excellent--Javier took great care of us and really made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. With food, drinks, tax, and tip, it came out to around $60 per person, which felt like a solid value for the quality of the meal and overall vibe. The restaurant itself has a really fun and energetic atmosphere, with seating both indoors and outside. We sat inside and loved the energy. If you're staying downtown (we were at the Hotel Flor / Hilton just around the corner), it's a convenient walk and absolutely worth it. The location and the vibes are great but the menu is super limited with only about 6 entrees to choose from & the night I went they were out of at least 2 of the dishes my table ordered. So we all settled on the chicken kabobs. They all came out with a grand presentation which was kind of funny considering our table was full of these chickens just dangling on a stick. I see the vision but they missed the mark as far as taste. We could see all the other tables ordering some kind of kabobs bc that's basically all they had on the menu. It was crazy to see how many of these kabob set ups they had knowing there wasn't enough food to serve the entire menu. Our under seasoned hanging chickens costed us a whopping $29 each which is a pretty steep price considering it didn't taste great at all. What we didnt finish we boxed up and gave to a unhoused person nearby. I guess this place is worth the experience being that it's a downtown Tampa hotspot, the drinks are great, they have hookah and live music. It was hot and since it's downtown there's not a lot of shade. I will say the food I ordered was good but in order not to break the bank I got lamb meatballs- an appetizer and a side salad. We were staying at a nearby hotel for St. Patrick's Day weekend and decided to give this place a try on Saturday around 5. It was extremely busy both inside and outside because the parade had recently ended. We were lucky enough to get a table inside the restaurant. Service was quick from our waiter, despite the big crowd. The menu has about ten appetizers, several spreads, salads, and about ten entrees. We started with the dip combo, which was four different spreads with pita bread. We also ordered the vegetable platter to use with the spreads. They all tasted great. For our entree we split a filet mignon kabob, with asparagus and a Greek salad. The filet mignon was one of the best we have had. My mom and I had afternoon drinks and apps at Dio while visiting tampa for a show at the Tampa Theater. We came across Dio and enjoyed our time dining here. I love Mediterranean food so of course I enjoyed our meal. We ordered sangria and the hummus and grape leaves and I thought both dishes and the drinks were delicious. Having lived in Spain, I can't say no to a sangria and Dio is the perfect place to find that! The food tasted fresh and authentic and it was a nice place for a light snack. I like how they gave us lots of pita bread for the dip also ;). The service and ambiance was enjoyable. Our waiter was very friendly and responsive. The food came out quickly and I felt the menu offered a wide variety of Mediterranean options. Dio has outdoor seating although it isn't the nicest patio. I preferred to sit inside where they have a bright and welcoming ambiance. There is a bar as well as table seating for both large and small parties. It is also a plus that it was walking distance from the Tampa Theater! While they have plenty of nice looking seating, we were seated outside by a grayish wall with a flickering white light above us (see picture). The service was quick and friendly, but the food was not great. The tzatziki was plain, with no seasoning. The salmon tarator was interesting and well cooked but absolutely over salted. I was looking for an alternative to another restaurant whose kitchen was closed ~10pm on Saturday night. Walking past Dio, it was a very lively patio with live music. I was asked if I wanted to sit indoors or outdoors and was subsequently seated promptly outdoors. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered all mezze plates - Lebneh and roasted eggplant, spanakopita and saganaki. Both the former were delicious. Saganaki, I personally find very salty but the first couple bites until I no longer wanted it was good. The ambiance was fun, live dancers even made an appearance and some guests were dancing by their tables. The restaurant also offers hookah which I did not order but was available to do so. Me and three of my girl friends decided to drop in on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks - we had no idea how packed this place would be and pretty much every single table and standing space were occupied, but there was a gentleman (I believe he was a manager, perhaps owner, I wish I would've gotten his name) standing near the young lady at the hostess stand who offered to try to find us a place to sit - and he made it happen! We sat outside at one of the tables with the couches - it was perfectly comfortable for the 4 of us. We ordered a hookah while we enjoyed our drinks and ate our food - and then we were able to see the excitement of the dancers that come out in their stunning outfits! The dancers were really fantastic. What we ate - the chicken souvlaki platter - it was delicious, zero complaints. We also had the baklava cheesecake - it was also tasty, and I've never had baklava cheesecake so that was a new experience entirely which is always fun. What we drank - espresso martini - I've had the espresso martini here before when me and some friends stopped by for drinks, so I already knew it was a winner - but again, it didn't disappoint. I love the espresso martinis here. The environment was very festive, fun, and exciting. I will say - if you're hoping for a quiet dinner, this might not be the place for that. But if you're looking to eat good food, have a fun environment and be uplifted by the music - this is a great place for that! We will 100% be dining here again. read more

Great atmosphere! Came here on a Friday night for dinner & they have dancers come every hour after 9 I believe. The food and drinks were great! My only complaint, and the reason I didn't give it five stars was because we ordered hookah, and for whatever reason they put them on the ground instead of on the table, meaning that the coals are right at arms level. I definitely hit my arm a few times, some of my friends knocked it over while trying to get in and out of their seat. Definitely a safety hazard, and some thing that could be improved. I was like whatever, but really is this right? My friend asked if they had ranch, of course no ranch, but offered aioli sauce, but charged for it on the bill. Sub for Truffle fries is extra $5 fyi. I came to Dio Mediterranean in Tampa and was told by the server that I could choose any table and wait for the dance time at a good spot. I picked a table, ordered a beer and a hookah, and everything was fine--until the host came over and told me I needed to move because I was alone and they wanted to seat four people at my table (keep in mind: more than half of the venue's tables were EMPTY). The way it was handled was extremely rude and unprofessional, they moved me to a hidden table that I did not like and that was the only option I was offered. We stumbled across this cute place and were able to be seated immediately. We weren't up to purchasing expensive meals, but there were still plenty of options for us. My friend who is gluten free ordered hummus and the waitress was very accommodating to figure out what she could eat with it instead of pita bread. This dish did not come with any protein so I had to add it for an additional charge. 7/10 On a previous occasion I got the Gyro that came with the traditional lamb gyro, tzatziki, tomato, & onion. 9/10 The Filet Mignon Kabobs is one of my favorite dishes here. It came with whipped garlic, chimichurri dipping sauce herb French fries! 9/10 This restaurant is not as lively as Acropolis Greek Taverna in Ybor City and I like the selection of dishes a bit better there. However, Dio is one of the only Greek restaurants in Downtown Tampa. I was in the mood for some med food. I was greeted by Jade and shown to a table. Nice music and kinda quiet on this night. Jade was helpful in offering some suggestions and recommendations. I asked her to just pick something for me. The restaurant has a nice vibe. Everyone was having a nice time. The food on other people's tables looked amazing. I couldn't wait to get my food. She surprised me with the chicken kabob. Nice choice. The dish comes with 2 skewers of chicken, French fries, a nice whipped garlic and a small dish of chopped cucumbers salad. All the flavors mixed well. The garlic was a nice dip for the chicken and fries. I almost ended with the baklava dessert but i was too full to try. It really sounded great though. It's a fun experience and reminded me of Miami. The food was delicious and a priced for the area and experience at 19.00$. The Dio Mojito I had was so delicious I ended up having two more, only thing is they weren't very strong. The food took a while to make but we were a large party of 10 and all the food came out at different times. It seemed to be a busy and stressful night for them.
