Herb & Roasted Garlic Cornish Hen
    Rachel M.

Came here for a Pre-Valentine's Dinner. Valentines Day dinner was Prix Fixe. I'm just not a fan of those bc it's a set menu. So I came the Friday before that. Our service was great. Initially I will say, it was not so busy however since there was a group, the sound was very loud. This restaurant location is where the courtroom use to be, so the sound did travel for some reason. Soon enough, I adjusted and was happy I was on the other side of the dining room area. I do wish there were more decor inside the dining area. It was very simple. For our dinners, we had Herb & Roasted Garlic Cornish Hen & Island Sea Bass, we also had a chicken croqueta appetizer, and it came with Cuban bread and the best thing ever Mango Butter! We asked for extra mango butter, it was so good! Our dessert was a heavenly tropical cheesecake. The following week, we came back for our stay at the hotel. We had breakfast which was included with our stay. It was so cute how they packed it kind of like a breakfast bento box. It came with coffee and orange juice. I took a picture which I posted and it was wonderful. We ate it in the lobby area of the restaurant which is very cute and cozy. Brunched is being hosted by Le Meridien, which is where Sal Rosa is located. It's on April 26, 2025. I wish I could go. It's such a beautiful setting, and such great service with food with a tropical and Latin flair.

I went to dinner here for my birthday and thought the environment was really nice but surprisingly empty. I had the shrimp appetizer, strip steak and birthday cake gelato. The shrimp and gelato were very good! The strip steak was okay overall. I thought it was going to be more tender and flavorful. I did think the portion sizes however were generous. Our server did occasional check on us but it was clear that he was not a people person and did not want to be there. Overall, it was a positive experience but not at the top of my list to return.

Lemon poppyseed pancakes with bacon and the world's best fried potatoes-full stop. July 2025

Hear ye, hear ye, brunch is in session! (Look out, I have a whole pile of puns/plays on words much lamer than that) My friends and I try to meet once a month-and July found us here, in the old courthouse in downtown Tampa, that's now the Meridien Hotel. Walk up the steps out front, through any of the three sets of tall doors-and there you are...in this striking, sleek, chic dining space. It's not huge, but the ambiance is. From my spot, I could see a vintage glass and wood door with the words "hearing room" stenciled in a retro font. You just know men with fedoras and starched shirts and full briefcases went through here. It felt like the room could fade to black and white and melt into a film noir or Dragnet scene. But this brunch was full color-from the bottomless pineapple mimosas (you can choose other juices), to the lemon poppyseed pancakes-with berry compote. We met at noon on a Saturday, had a reservation and were seated immediately. The place was lively, but not crazy busy. Our server came right away and did a great job taking care of us. She picked right up on our group vibe and knew just when to swing by and check on us, bring water or mimosa refills, etc. The menu isn't huge but the variety is intriguing. I have a feeling they everything they do, very, very well, here. I certainly can recommend the lemon poppyseed pancakes. A generous stack of three, with a lemon glaze as well as the berry compote on top. It came with some very tasty bacon and, hands down, the best breakfast fried potatoes I've ever had. Ever. Had. One of my friends ordered the exact same dish and completely agreed. They're heavenly. I thought the $16 price tag was super fair for all this gorgeousness. (The mimosa were separate) Our other friend had biscuits and gravy, which he really enjoyed. In fact: he went back the next day for brunch #2! You can park on the side streets or in nearby lots, with a parking app. I believe there's also a valet. There's a gelato stand in the lobby-which we all agreed to check out next time. I'm so glad my friend suggested this place. Now I'll do the same. (Without another bad pun, like "it would be a crime to miss it.") (whoops)

Sal Rosa is quite a charming place. Situated in the old courthouse, it maintains its lofty heights but blends a vintage hotel style that feels almost like stepping back in time, just not quite. The food was great! The mango butter tickles your tastebuds, and the bread is so soft, with a great, light crunch to the outside. The house salads are enormous; you can easily split one between two people which is what I wish we had done! My partner thoroughly enjoyed their paella which came chock full of hefty seafood bites. But it's the lamb shank which is truly the star of the show! It's so tender that you barely touch the tine of a fork to it and it practically leaps off the bone before melting across your tongue. The risotto left a bit to be desired, but was fine overall. Service was a bit relaxed for my personal tastes, even if it was the middle of the week. But our waiter was pleasant enough, as was the rest of the staff.

This is the restaurant at the Le Meridian Hotel which you can directly enter through the amazing front of the old Courthouse building. We were there for dinner and it was an off night since their menu was being updated and many items were unavailable. Service was excellent and the food that we did get was good. Would have been a solid 4 if not for that.

Sal Rosa is a charming restaurant located at the Le Meridien (former courthouse, renovated hotel). As a guest of Le Meridien, I dined here a few times during my trip and our servers were friendly and attentive. The food, drinks and dessert (peanut butter homemade gelato) were delicious. This place does get busy so service can be hit or miss. On one of the days, it took a bit longer for service as the restaurant was short-staffed. This place also offers weekend brunches, so it gets super busy. Overall solid experience and worth the trip if you're visiting or new in town.

A restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, though the prices felt a bit high to me. I went with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday, and both the service and the setting were excellent. Some dishes stood out for their flavor, while others were just okay. The portions were small for the price. I chose the three-course menu for $50, which included an appetizer, a main dish, and gelato (the pistachio and chocolate was a great choice). I should note that the food took a little while to arrive, but it came out fresh and piping hot, just how I like it. PS: Due to its location, it's better to park on the street, though there are public parking lots nearby.

    complementary hotel breakfast to share

We stopped in after dinner for some dessert. Their only options were gelato and churros so we went with the churros. They were excellent and had a good chocolate dipping sauce. In the morning we came here for our complementary hotel breakfast. It comes out on a large board with a variety of items. We were given an option between two flavors of muffins and two flavors of breakfast quiche pastry. The almond flavored granola was really good with the yogurt and berries. It was a light breakfast, but we had eaten so much the night before it was fine for us. My husband said the coffee at the restaurant was good and he got some to go. There's a coffee and gelato bar at the entrance of the restaurant. We were able to get a complementary specialty coffee here using his Marriott loyalty membership. I think that is only good for people staying at the hotel, but we were never asked for our hotel key. The waiter probably guessed that we were staying there. They didn't have many guests the night of December 23. Their dinner menu looked really good with Cuban cuisine. I would like to try dinner here sometime.

We had an incredible time at Sal Rosa on a Saturday morning. The restaurant is beautiful and as parents to a toddler we like restaurants that offer a chilled and quiet space. We opted to sit off to the side, near the bar area, although there is a main dining room area, which is beautiful. Michelle and Jorge were excellent, they both made our experience so delightful. They are professional, kind and courteous and they both went above and beyond. If you go to Sal Rosa, you should request to be helped by them. The food was really good and the bottomless mimosas on the weekend is a really good deal. I highly recommend Sal Rosa.

The place is so beautiful. It was a court and now it is a hotel and restaurant. The food was ok and the drinks too. The omelette is not an omelette it is a tortilla with the things inside.

Stopped by on a Sunday night since it's attached to my hotel. The place was has a mini coffee bar by the entrance and the seating at the restaurant is spacious and feels upscale. The menu has a nice selection of seafood, homemade gelato, and tropical drinks. I ordered the fish ceviche and it had a spicy kick to it! The avocado helped tame down the spice. The service at the bar was quick and the staff were friendly.

Chicken tortilla soup, empanadas, and jerk chicken

Had lunch here during the week with my family and it was a nice change. Our waiter Jorge was super friendly and attentive. We had the empanadas, ropa vieja, chicken tortilla soup, jerk chicken drummets, kid's grilled cheese, and peanut butter gelato. We really liked the empanadas, ropa vieja, soup, fries, and gelato. Drinks were good too, we tried the espresso martini and Bloody Mary. It's a nice quiet restaurant with some music playing the background, very cool that it's a historical building. Our waiter encouraged us to look around the building after our meal and glad we did. It's not a museum by any means but nice to appreciate the historical aspect of this particular building.

Old courthouse building in downtown Tampa converted to a very beautiful restaurant adjacent to a wonderful hotel. The food was very good, but not presented the way it showed for a higher class restaurant. We opted for the prime rib empanadas which only came to on a plate, no decoration no salad nothing. The shaved scallops with the pineapple ice appetizer was also extremely delicious. Gelato was offered in the lobby with nice coffee bar Street parking is what we found to be most convenient.

Everything was delicious, and I'd give this place a 10 out of 10--I'll definitely be back. Shoutout to our waitress Sienna, who was absolutely amazing. She was super friendly, recommended a bunch of great options, and made deciding easy. She checked on us often and even brought out a new syrup they make for us to try, which was so good. A full service bar and restaurant on one side and a lounge type atmosphere on the other side with a live DJ. They play a variety of rnb and hip hop from old school to modern day. I really had a nice time. The reason only 4 stars was due to the host not being actively present at the reception area when you walk in. He was too busy on the lounge side dropping it like it was hot and helping the bottle girls "hold" the sign. We stood at the host stand upon entry for a while until someone went to get him from the other side. The food was just "ok". For the price of the food I expected more. I had the lemon pepper honey wings and the chicken and French toast. The wings were not cooked through and served in a bowl which made it very difficult to eat. It came with 2 cornbread muffins that were dense and very dry. The French toast was great. I opted for the one with peaches and icing. It was great. It was served with chicken tenders. Again, in a bowl, which made it very difficult to cut, as I had to dig in the bowl. They were ok, a little on the dry side, the breading was falling off but they were edible. The drinks were flowing and the vibe was good. No complaints there. Would I go back??? Yes, I'll probably try something different on the menu. I feel like if the service was a bit better, more attention to detail on the food and the plating of food was different it would have earned 5 stars. But I had an overall nice time.
